  1. None of the colors I use are in stock...dang.
  2. I only use EWGs for senkos and thicker baits. I personally prefer offset round bends... One of my favorite baits to throw a offset round bend is a baby brush hog by zoom.
  3. I use spike it chartreuse for dipping and to cover scents bang formula but I'm on the verge of switching over to megastrike because I don't like spray cans.
  4. No but I have walked ankle deep into riprap to retrieve a snagged jackhammer before.
  5. 2 to 3 feet water clarity? It sounds like your dealing with slighty stained water. Black n blue jigs will work best on overcast days but try green pumpkin or some kind of light colored craw pattern. PB&J also works well in that.
  6. Do you have any pics of the water clarity while looking at the shoreline? I had a similar question about water clarity and I posted my pond clarity (pic below) based on my initial thought I have to agree with some of the other members any kind of green pumpkin or black n blue will do you just fine. If you do manage to send a similar pic like mine I will be able to help you out further.
  7. I second this Any sort of live minnow or a small spinner like a beetlespin or a rooster tail will catch anything. I use panther martins for trout up here when they're stocked in the rivers and lakes. Also never go wrong with a white 2 inch grub. Catfish WILL eat your lures from time to time.
  8. What's everyone's favorite texas rig weight size for bank fishing? For me I usually use 3/16oz or 1/4oz if it's windy or I want to keep it on the bottom. I personally love fishing a pitboss or rage craw on the 3/16oz size in the summertime, something about that slow fall and the flapping action drives the bass nuts.
  9. Yeah a little bit. I've lost plenty of small texas rigs and jigs to riprap. Would the swim n shake retrieve work well in the pre spawn? It sounds like a good warmer water technique. I'm still fairly new to ned rig fishing and I fish it like I do jigs and texas rigs 90% of the bites come on the initial fall.. Always glad to learn new retrieval styles though, definitely gonna try them out!
  10. So with that technique you don't pause it at all? I always thought with the ned rig the pause is the most important part.
  11. Explain the never stop moving part? How would that work from the bank then? Hoping it over rocks? I understand the concept from fishing on a boat though lol.
  12. is it possible to fish the TRD around riprap? I have a lake near my place that has some on a dam.
  13. That's pretty much my answer to a certain point, I love the amount of variety of this sport. The only thing I really keep "simple" is my bait colors and the amount of gear I own. 5 setups total but most of the time I only use 3. In reality I could probably use only 2. One spinning and a casting. This!! You'll never gain confidence if you keep switching things out! I always tell new anglers this.
  14. What would you recommend then for ponds/smaller lakes? The finesse shroomz?
  15. Really? I tried the finesse shroomz and it seems kinda small for the profile of the trd. Maybe I'm wrong lol. Hook in the pic is a 1/10oz pro shroomz hook. Would the finesse shroomz work better?
  16. 6lbs on the first cast? On the ned rig? Wow. Nice fish!
  17. First full pre spawn since 2018 so i'm still learning the ropes for this time of year but the bait I'm throwing the most right now is the lipless crankbait and ned rig.. have I caught any bass on them so far in 2021? No, but I'm keeping faith especially with the lipless. The baits I should be throwing are chatterbaits and senkos, but I'm stubborn and want to learn new techniques
  18. The dirtiest water I have ever fished was green pea soup in the summer time and even then I had luck on black ned rigs and worms (my ned setup pic below), would these baits also work in chocolate water that is known to come with spring time or would I need something with more action to get those fish to bite?
  19. Tell my bass that hahaha
  20. But in ponds like this though do the bass even have anywhere to go during the winter? If it's featureless they would just suspend I guess right? Or would they always be nearby?
  21. My pond is a max of 7 feet but has a steep bank side on the other side (behind the fountain) it's basically a featureless fish bowl that also goes down in the summertime if we don't get rain, it also has storm drains that bring in runoff. Pic below is the northwestern side when water gets lower, all that bank and rip rap is underwater right now.
  22. What are some good Colorado blade spinnerbaits that work well in smaller bodies of water?
  23. Even in fishbowl ponds like mine? I haven't seen any bluegill activity yet which is kinda disappointing. I honestly just want to locate the fish right now. Baits are secondary. It seems like none of the fish have moved shallow yet.
  24. I've only used 4/0 that was a typo. One problem with weedless senkos is sometimes they'll choke it and you will either get a gut hooked or tounge hooked fish. Pretty messy situation. Guessing the 3/0 prevents that from happening? I always try to be quick with hooksets when that happens.
