Well you were right !
I just want thank you for recommending the tatula reel. I just recieved it in the mail and I am totally impressed. Can't believe how light and how well made it is. Also ordered a St.Croix bass rod to put it on . That will be in Friday . Can't wait to start using them . Again thanks.
I have been considering doing the same thing. I am ordering a 6'8" 2 piece St Croix later today. First I will try it out on the yak.
Than if I find handle the handle to long I'll bring it to local rod builder and have modify if for me .
Tell me about it . I used to live in lewiston. Up in the Trinity alps. My next door neighbor was a helicopter pilot. He would come up every summer it seemed , to deal with the fires . It sounds like you guys will have a good salmon season. That and the steelhead fishing is something I truly miss . I lived right close to the Trinity river so I fished it practically every day . Anyways I hope you have a good summer and tight lines .
I think you just hit the nail on the head. I have a spinning rod with a long handle that I use for chucking bait and 1oz chatter baits predominantly in the ocean for stripers. My shoulder kills me after about twenty minutes.
I don't think I have too worry I about the life best to much . I wear an inflatable on the yak.
Brad thanks for the reply. Nice fish you have there too . I fish out in the ocean on occasion , that was one of the reasons I have been thinking of something a bit longer with back bone . Love taking the Nantucket sleigh ride when that happens I hold the rod into my belly and go along for the ride. Other times I fish a reservoir not far from where I live.
I was thinking about possibly getting the rod and shortening the handle also . The think about it though the less I like the idea . More it will suite me fine as it is .
Thanks for reply. I know with spinning rods in past I never even gave the handle length a second thought . With having been said I am definitely the St. Croix.
I am thinking about purchasing a new casting rod . I am looking at a 6'10" the mojo 2 piece mhf . Wondering if the handle would be to long ? ( I believe it's 13" 1/2")
Check out Craigslist. Last ten years or so that is the only place I have purchased a kayak. I rarely pay over $300.
At the moment I have a 12' Ellie costal that picked for exactly 300 dollars and it looked brand new . Before that an ocean prowler for the same price . I had to get rid of that , because it was just to heavy for me to lift all the time .
Well I just ordered tatula 200 . Probably larger than I need but the price was perfect .I want to thank everyone for there advice that they gave me . It was was more than appreciated. Again thanks everyone and tight lines.
Believe it or not I really appreciate your advice . The problem with the tatula sv is my budget . I am limited to about $300 , with that I am purchasing a St. Croix rod , that I have been eyeing , plus I am looking at the tatula 150 . Your also right about getting a striper setup in the future.
Thanks for the input. I will look into the Diawa tatula . The reason I was considering the 25lb drag is because I do on a occasion throw my kayak in the ocean and fish for stripers.
Hi let me start out by saying that I am fairly new to bass fishing. Always used a fly rod or spinning reel set up in the past. Recently I decided that an old dog can learn new tricks so I am going go try my hand at baitcasting. I am looking at two baitcasting reels not sure which one to get and would like to get some opinions. The first one is a lews tournament Mb. The other is an Abu garcia revo 4 sx. Right now I am leaning toward the revo 4 since it has a max drag of 25lbs because I occasionally fish for stripers. Not sure which one is best for me .any opinions.
Hi guys I need some advice . After 60 plus years of using a spin caster and fly rod . I have decided to give baitcasting a try. I am torn between the Abu garcia revo 4 X-l hs and the lews tournament Mb . Let me , also add that I new to bass fishing , previously most of my fishing has been for salmon and steelhead in California.
