  1. Wow, very similar story for me. I was actually born in Bradford, Pa and grew up near Titusville Pa - we had great fishing opportunities! I left the area because the family business closed shop when my great uncle died and the family sold it off. Now I live just north of you in Albrightsville (20 minutes from Beltzville) and the fishing on this whole side of the state sucks. The people that fish around here keep everything they catch regardless of the regulations and almost everything is private due to developers and communities. It's tough fishing and pickerel are the rue of the land.
  2. Where are you fishing that is so terrible? I didn't think it could get much worse than Eastern Pa.
  3. Lucky craft pointer 78 flake flake golden Sunfish this year.
  4. You need to protect those lures so they are in pristine condition when you donate them to the bottom of the lake.
  5. The tires look great and the bearings were just greased up - I wasn't in the market for a boat but this seems like a bargain, but I could be wrong.
  6. The price is 1500. He told me he thinks he could get 2300+ out of it.
  7. My neighbor offered me a 12 foot alumacraft in pristine conditon. It comes with... -a 9.9 Mercury outboard 2 stroke with 30 hours of run time. - A minn kota 55lb thrust trolling motor with 12 hours of run time. - a trailer with a new axle that is registered and in pristine condition . - the boat, trailer and engine are all his, he is the original owner, has all the paperwork and has stored it in his climate controlled garage for the 5 years he has owned it. - it also comes with anchors, 2 adjustable seats, a small 15 gallon livewell with aerator(he used it for bait), oars, life jackets and 2 new deep cycle batteries. This seems like a fair shake to me but I was wondering yinz opinions? Edit - forgot the price! 1500 dollars.
  8. My dad quit fishing about 15 years ago. I have a lot of fond memories fishing with my dad and Grandpa as a kid. 15 years ago he sold his boat and gave me all his fishing stuff. Now the last few years he has been coming out with my kids for the first day of trout but otherwise I can't get him to go and he isn't into it anymore. He says he just doesn't enjoy it anymore... This is picture of my sister and I as an 8 year old catching a bass at my grandparents farm pond.
  9. Never give up on the cast. Lol When fishing by myself I have seen many a fish caught after digging out backlashes - not from me though, I never backlash. Once I caught a muskie on a lure dangling over the edge of out johnboat and just touching the water while throwing bucktails. It.must have followed in and whacked it. Luckily my friend had quick hands.
  10. We call this the "Mike Long"
  11. Six Gill has their BOGO sale on Rods going on. If you are looking for some good rods for the price I highly recommend them...
  12. You could have caught it on a sharp objects somewhere along the... line. Lol Seriously though, did you back lash at all with this line? A semi serious backlash puts a small cut into the line sometimes and eventually it will snap. If you are fishing from a boat you could caught it on the side or something. Sharp rocks in the water maybe? Are you using a sliding weight? There are a lot of possibilities.
  13. People will buy them regardless. I see Bass Mafia boxes a fair bit and I thought no one would buy those at their pricing.
  14. The picture link is broken... The fish story gets bigger!
  15. It just seems like such a nice place...they are kettle lakes so have been there forever so I can't believe have 0 bass.
  16. Barring the rivers, it seems like all the accessible fishing places in Eastern Pa are just Pickerel holes... I wish everything wasn't private.
  17. I can't believe this...what pros have shoddy 10 dollar budget reels? I don't think they like eating bluegill but they will on lakes without shiners or shad. What's wrong with green pumpkin senkos?
  18. I miss my muskie so much so I would tie on and go to lake 3!
  19. Depends on the vegetation I think. I have never used a popping frog as I would prefer to use a buzzbait or other plopper style bait. I interchange popping frogs and weedless frogs though depending on the amount of vegetation.
  20. So the 25 acre pond I trekked in over a mile to fish now, 5 times, apparently has no Bass. Just giant perch and big pickerel. Pickerel choked the frog...uggh.
  21. So this is a fun topic I have seen in a hockey forum - as long as people keep it civil. What is a popular opinion within the fishing industry you disagree with? For instance one thing I have always disagreed with is the fact manufacturers make 50 different colors of baits and people still want more... I think this is overkill and more marketing than anything else. If a bass was hot for your midnight blue craw with red flakes he would have eaten your midnight craw with green flakes. The industry has made us believe we need 50 colors in our tackle bags so we buy more. It's brilliant! So what are some things you see in the fishing community you believe are B.S.?
  22. You need to remember not everyone fishes or follows fishing as closely as some people here...they fish a few times a year and the way algorithms work on YouTube Tactical needs to revisit these videos each year to stay relevant. I will bet you more than 50% of people fishing have never heard of a Ned rig. I see people all the time going out and throwing huge bobbers with a pre-tied snelled hook hanging below it and wondering why they don't catch anything. Tactical is doing the community a huge service in reviewing relevant tactics each year when they come around.
  23. Somehow I have never done it really bad and I have caught some really big pickerel in my yak without a net, no grips, while using a 3 treble jerk bait. My day is coming
  24. It usually mean a fish (albeit, usually a small one) grabbed the tail and you jerked or pulled it out of it's mouth. Sometimes this is a result of premature "jerking".
  25. I think you are looking for Aberdeen hooks. They have those everywhere but they are usually lighter wire.
