  1. I am known to throw 1/16 oz Ned rigs on my daiwa tatula sv's without any problems. The thing is, once you add he Ned worm it is closer to a 1/4 oz and flies better than a lot of 1/4 oz lures that I cast on baitcasters. When it comes to dropshot I just think that spinning rods work better for the technique and the longer awkward leaders.
  2. So lately I have really been only fishing jigs. I am throwing them as deep into fallen trees and brush as I can and somehow have lost very few but decided to try some 3/4 oz ones and more trailers since those have been dwindling.
  3. I pre-rig all my rods with terminal tackle but never thread a soft plastic on until I am ready to cast it. This is the way
  4. Things haven't been getting any better as summer grinds on... Last 27 hours of Tournament fishing I have managed a whole 6 fish. Last 24 hours of fun fishing, only 7 fish. I have never had this much trouble getting a bite. I am banging my head against a wall. Last 2 man tournament had 25 boats and in 8 hours only had 2 boats get a limit. The bite right now is the toughest I have ever been through.
  5. I use 15# big game or 15# suffix advanced copoly for smaller swims. Up to 8 ounces i use 20# Big game leaders on 50# braid.
  6. When they say tight l, they mean tight. When I am reeling on braid I lock down the drag, lock the spool in my vise so it will barely spin and then reel it with addd pressure from my finger tips. You do that all the way and you won't have dig in.... I use 15 and 20 # braid on my baitcasters without any issues.
  7. WCZ products are so overpriced to me. Even their stupid travel boards are overpriced. Nice baits but just ridiculous pricing for a soft plastic
  8. I have no idea what rig you are using it on, but just continue using it.
  9. That spool looks rough. It definitely looks like your line is getting chewed up and is probably all nicked up. Also check your line guides.
  10. Yeah, I never heard of milky Fluoro
  11. Anything up to 1/2 oz+ tackle is still dropshotting. I would condider power shotting 3/4 oz + weights. And why not use a baitcaster since the technique is to blast it into the thick stuff?
  12. There doesn't appear to be any shortage of them on fleabay or online...
  13. Johnson spoons you say. Mine were all rusty.
  14. I always have the wrong lure tied on.
  15. When i was a teen i was given a bunch of Johnsons spoons and thought they were to be fished like a daredevil but in weeds...they didn't work and I put them in the box never to be used. Now they are old and rusty. I may need to get new ones now that I have a better grasp on how to fish them...
  16. Yeah, I spent a few hours with it and caught a dink. That sound though is so nostalgic as it creeps closer to you in the pitch black night.
  17. Do you plan on using the same worms forever too? I wouldn't get a lifetime supply because I change sizes and styles depending on the situation. For texas rigging I usually use owner or gamakatsu 4/0 and 5/0 ewg's. For wacky rigging I usually use gamakatsu octopus style 2/0 and 3/0.
  18. If you are going this route, remove all the split rings. If you don't, it has a tendency to run crooked and not at the depth it should.
  19. I am usually at that range. At least 2 feet for me.
  20. I use 10# braid to a 6# fluoro or mono leader for my finesse fishing. I never have problems with breakoffs except for pickerel hitting it.
  21. I have some 80 mm handles and some 110mm handles and some 120mm on 400 sized reels. Overall for a 100-200 sized reel I like 100mm for most applications. The 80 mm works great for buzzbaits and other baits I am burning...
  22. What's a spinning reel?
  23. I use a ML 7'0" Dropshot Tatula Elite rod. It works very well but sometimes I wish the rod had a bit more parabolic bend to it on bigger fish.
  24. Yeah, its actually easier landing swimbait fish on shore than a boat. Netting them by yourself sucks balls. I lost an easy 8 pounder a week ago in Beltzville trying to wheel it into the yak and net it in the dark. Those baits weigh too much to screw around
