  1. What I would do if I were you is give that Curado DC to me! ?
  2. The ice needs to melt or I need to quit looking at this thread.
  3. It would look nice with a Expride 7' Light + or 6'10" Med Light. Pretty sure you can still get a Dobyns Kaden 711sf also.
  4. I'm a Dobyns guy also, the only rods I can think of that would be close to the Extreme IMO, is the Expride in that price range, maybe the Helium 3 and the Megabass Orochi. The Megabass Destroyer but it is a little over that range.
  5. Ever thought about building your own rod? The MHX 784MB sounds like it might be perfect, it weighs 2.4 oz. I'm kinda looking for the same thing but in a Medium power for smallmouth.
  6. 6 ft. Ugly Stik GX2
  7. I got a cheaper Daiwa Revros LT on sale for $30 for my St. Croix Panfish UL rod and I'm liking it so far.
  8. I didn't mean to have a referral code in it, I just copied and pasted the url that was in my address bar. This one is a Yo-Zuri 3DS Minnow Suspending for $3.09. I just copied the url from my recent order list, it may have a referral id in the link, but I don't think it's mine. I think I got the deal from Tackle Advisor off of YouTube, so it's probably his. https://www.amazon.com/Yo-Zuri-F1135-BG-Suspending-Bluegill/dp/B00LDYR4HE/ref=pd_cp_200_1/137-0543589-8838839?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B079Z9ZN8N&pd_rd_r=eeb6a503-91b1-48ef-a381-6c6d472b4853&pd_rd_w=4TrDs&pd_rd_wg=y4xvP&pf_rd_p=e44de6bb-cc27-4696-9c22-3a1bddefabbd&pf_rd_r=Y1Y855GFX9ES1WV7KXMS&refRID=Y1Y855GFX9ES1WV7KXMS&th=1
  9. Amazon has some Yo-Zuri Crystal Minnow Jerkbaits on sale for just over $3 on some colors and sizes. I was able to grab 4 of them earlier today, all different colors and sizes. Looks like there are still a few left for that price. You have to use the drop down menu and check each color and size for the price. I believe they are $9 on Tackle Warehouse. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07DVKY8YN/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1
  10. 734 would do the job and a lot more, very versatile model.
  11. It's not just some dude with a FB account! It's a Carleton University Biologist that has actually launched the first scientific study on the subject. A Canada Research Chair in environmental science and biology, along with multiple other people assisting him. https://ottawacitizen.com/news/local-news/do-the-dew-for-a-bleeding-fish-an-ottawa-biologist-investigates-the-healing-power-of-pop?fbclid=IwAR0NdiIQV8QHLSG-_91mgGXprDGAN9yMyKGywBb_h8kkw05TtyaABf6SRhg Maybe it works, maybe it is bad for them in the long term, but so far there is no evidence to say either way and I'm just interested in finding out the truth. We know it stops bleeding and has saved fish, and all we have against it is a couple scientists saying they have a “difficult time believing this works, and isn’t actually harmful to the fish.” Sorry, but that doesn't exactly convince me. The river I normally fish in gets it flow from agriculture runoffs and all the chemicals that comes with it. It's so bad, you are only allowed to eat one fish out of it per month and I wouldn't even do that or else I would just take the fish home and eat it. And, it's loaded with fish and they seem to do well year after year. I've only used mt dew a few times on fish that had a good chance of dying. If their just bleeding a little, I just get them back in the water as quick as possible. But, I have a hard time believing that after swimming in as dirty water as they do, filled with all kinds of chemicals, that a little bit of mt. dew is going to hurt them. But, then again, I'm not a scientist and that's why I keep an eye on the subject for actual evidence one way or another. I will error on the side on caution for now and skip doing the mt.dew thing just to be safe until more science is done on the subject. In the meantime, can someone link me to the Catch n Release product to use instead.
  12. A biologist has been performing a study about using mt. dew on bleeding fish for awhile and he is pretty convinced that it saves fish. https://www.facebook.com/pg/Save-a-Million-Fish-752045115140863/posts/
  13. Pretty much May thru October they will crush topwater and just about anything else really, they aren't real picky. I usually choose the Whopper Plopper because I'm in a kayak and can cover a lot of water with it quickly.
  14. I'm a big Dobyns fan, but the Expride seems to be the best there is in that price range.
  15. I tracked mine this year in my 2nd season of fishing and caught 515, and that's just what I captured with my GoPro, most of them from cast to release.
  16. So far I'm liking my SLX XT more than my SLX DC, unless it's really windy. I wasn't impressed with the casting distance, but I don't get backlashes when I have it setup correctly, but neither do I on most non DC reels if they are dialed in good enough. It was nice to try out, but I would rather have a MGL.
  17. If you're on a lake and have plenty of area to cast, it's fine to use as long as a rod as you want. It's when you're fishing tight quarters like a skinny river or creek that you need a shorter rod, where accuracy is more important than distance. For me personally, it's the handle length that bothers me the most. While wearing a PFD it can be harder to hold the rod in a comfortable position and tougher when going to set the hook, especially in a SIS without hitting the side of the kayak.
  18. The Exprides are great rods, not sure you would need something else, but there is the Dobyns Extreme HP 744c or 745c or the Megabass Destroyer FMJ, that might be a little more sensitive, but that's just a guess as I haven't personally compared them. The G.Loomis GLX is a good rod also, and you can usually find a used NRX for around that price in good condition and that is supposed to be the most sensitive. I seen almost new Dobyns Xtasy's selling for around $400 also a lot lately. All good choices.
  19. I have a 13 Fishing Defy Black Crankbait rod, 7'3 Heavy Power / Moderate Action that weighs less than my Dobyns Champion Glass 705 MH and is even balances better by a good amount. It's a composite rod, full cork handle, cost about $60 at full price, and is great for chatterbaits. I may go down to a Medium Heavy if you're going to throw cranks on it also. Another one that I like is a good old Ugly Stik GX2. It's another glass composite rod and very strong for $40 retail. I've caught hundreds of smallies using one, on a whopper plopper and even caught some on a chatterbait the few times I've thrown it.
  20. I only have a sit-in because I bought it before I started fishing just to take on recreational trips. My next kayak will most likely be a SOT, mainly because if you flip it, you can just flip it back over and get back on. With mine if it gets flipped, you have no chance of emptying out the water and flipping back around, you would have to get it to the bank somehow and get the water out before you can flip it back over. You won't be able to stand in a Sit-In either and a lot of the seats on SOT's are raised so that helps with hook sets and sight fishing. My experience with a SOT has been on rivers that will have occasional rifts and rapids that will come over the side of the kayak. On warm days or if you're wearing good waterproof gear, this shouldn't be problem. I've also never used a SOT that had a raised seat, so maybe those would keep you out of the water, the ones I've used had the built in molded seats. The Sit-Ins have some advantages like blocking wind and keeping rapids and big waves from coming in so easily, but overall I would agree that SOT is the way to go. I just make due with what I got right now. You could always get a spray skirt for sit-ins and stay completely dry, but it probably still wouldn't help much if you flip out in the middle of a lake. That's my biggest worry with sit-ins. I almost bought a new Native Slayer a few months ago, but I have a bad foot from a brain surgery I had years ago and I'm unsure if I can even use a pedal kayak, so I spent my money on new rods instead. I'm waiting to find someone around me with one so I can try it first.
  21. Jumped up to $89 earlier today and now is pretty much dead as it jumped to $142.
  22. I'll share my experience with recording since I'm always recording. First off, I love it, being able to relive those big catches, the wildlife and the odd ball things that we all have happen to us while spending hours out fishing. Especially at this time of year in my neck of the woods when everything is iced over and wanting to fish, it's the next best thing when you can't fish. And, on those big fish catches, it seems the moment goes by so quick and you have to get it back in the water and you wish you could just enjoy it longer. But anyway, I started with a imitation GoPro in 2018 that was like $60, and my youtube videos from that year are filmed with it. It came with a waterproof housing case that it went in which made the microphone useless and the quality a little less. The older GoPro's were the same way, the newer ones are waterproof without a housing case. It was better than nothing, but it did create some artifacts in the video sometimes, especially when it faced into the sun directly. Another problem was that I didn't use a external power bank to power it and only had one battery and it was impossible to find batteries for it online, I tried a few different ones and none worked with it. At the end of 2018, I think around Black Friday, I scored a GoPro Hero 2018 for $130, which is actually a GoPro Hero 5 Black, but with the firmware limited. So, it took me about 30 seconds to flash the firmware over to the Hero 5 and now I have a $300 GoPro with all the same options. My videos on youtube in 2019, all 45+ were recorded with it and the difference was huge. The video quality, the options, voice control, waterproof on it's own, the microphone is really loud, and it's pretty durable as I have dropped it several times now and it still works good. GoPro also has a editor you can use that has some good video filters for colors that I like, like Pro Tune. And GoPro has tons of accessories and attachments for it. If you can find one for a good price, they are worth it.
  23. Dobyns Champion Glass rods are actually composite. I also have a nice cheaper composite that I like from 13 Fishing, the Defy Black Crankbait Rod, it's a 7'3 Heavy, but it balances perfectly, it's a great rod for $50-$60. If you want to go cheaper than that, there is the Ugly Stik GX2 and that's composite, and I don't care what anyone says, they are awesome cranking sticks for the money, I have 4 of them.
  24. I can't really answer that yet because they are all new within the last few months and I've been iced in most of that time. Most people would say the Xtasy 755c is the best one there, and it may be, but as far as usage, I will probably use the Xtasy 723c more because I mostly throw 3/8 oz stuff or light T-Rigged plastics more than 1/2 oz or heavier jigs, but who knows I may start throwing more heavier stuff if the 755c is really that good. I will definitely use the Extreme 702c a lot, mainly for Ned rigs and I have fished with it a little and even caught a fish on it and I'm loving that rod. If I had to pick a favorite right now, this might be it just because I have got to fish with it more than the Xtasy and caught a fish with it. But, I'm sure once I actually get some time on the Xtasys, I will like them more. It's a toss up right now on which glass rod I will use the most right now, depends on which one I end up liking for the Whopper Plopper the most, probably the 704cb as long as it proves it has enough backbone, because I like the parabolic bend on it for river smallies. I haven't fished with the 704 yet, but I've thrown the 705 maybe 20 cast. The 705 is a good bladed jig, medium diver rod, and for 2.5 squarebills. The 704 has way more parabolic bend to it, I almost feel I could jig fish with the 705, but people say the parabolic bend shows up when you have a fish on the line and I haven't been able to experience that yet. The 704sf spinning rod is a nice all around rod, but I don't like spinning gear and I'm trying to sell it. It has about 10 cast on it. The Kaden 744c might be my the rod I grab if I'm only taking one, it should be a good all around rod, but I haven't fished with it either. The Fury 703c is the only one I've really fished with enough because that was my first one that I got back in October. I bought it for Senkos, light Jigs and T-Rigs, but it has become my Jerkbait rod. It's also a very versatile rod. And, I will always love the Ugly Stik GX2.
  25. Thanks! Yep, no Sierra or Colt, and the Savvy and Coalition were before my addiction. I would like at least one of each series, but I'm not really needing another rod for anything, I already have a couple of Lew's and Shimano rods that will probably get sold. I try to convince myself that I could use a 735 Sierra for frogging and just use the 755 Xtasy for Jigs and a Colt 705cb for jerkbaits, but that's what I use my Fury for.
