  1. If you want a company that holds their value very well it's hard to beat G Loomis, Shimano, Daiwa, St Croix, Megabass. They hold their value the best hands down from my experience.
  2. Not many places are going to let you take tags off use a rod then say you don't like it and return it. Better off selling locally and then buying the mojo and paying the difference.
  3. Dobyns make a balanced rod and quality control is good but the blanks are terrible. For moving baits I think they are great but for bottom contact look elsewhere. I think I've fished $99 rods more sensitive than the Champion XP
  4. SC is in my hands leaps and bounds better IMO
  5. 100% correct in staying a rod is much more than sensitivity. Handle length, balance, sensitivity, etc all create the perfect rod. In my hands the NRX is more sensitive but Conquest is a cleaner build. A lot of what you said is right on point but I don't think I would say the NRX is outdated in regards to technology. I agree it needs to address the balance and change the guide train but titanium framed SIC and recoil are not outdated just not most peoples preference. I think that's what you mean in that it needs an update but by no means outdated in terms of technology compared to other rods.
  6. I remember I bought a 6'6 M Veritas back in the day and it was really stiff for a M almost a MH. Over the years, the rod loosen up. The carbon fiber structure over years like WRB said has to have adjusted after years of usage
  7. Daiwa for sure! IMO Daiwa and Shimano are the only brands in the reel industry
  8. COVID has dismantled businesses across the U.S. To not return to a business after the COVID chaos based on a bad experience during the crisis is not giving them the benefit of the doubt. Companies are sold out of products and backordered. They could have it ordered but things are just backlogged. But I personally don't like BPS at all. I don't blame you for not going there lol. Buying line in bulk for sure but make sure it's legit.
  9. Must be that personality lol ?. Tom if you need anything let us know. I live in the other side of the US but let us know if we can help. Welcome anytime you come to the Southeast with me
  10. We all get stirred up time but guess what? arguments and hearing others P.O.V can be very informational. We can all learn from eachother. I am a rod and reel guru and understand river fishing very well but guess what? My offshore and graphing skills are so bad lol. We need others strong where we are weak
  11. 100% agree. Double San Diego Jam and no issues at all. Best knot i have found so far. Sniper is great line
  12. I would go to that tackle shop or else you will have to ship it so you will have around $30 in shipping there and back plus the repair. After everything you'd be hard pressed to spend less than around $40. Just about any tackle shop should have a rod and reel repair
  13. I highly suggested Shimano and Daiwa reels. For rods, I personally dont like Dobyns rods at all. Rods I would recommend Daiwa, Shimano, Miller Rods, St Croix, Phenix, G Loomis.
  14. I would have a local repair done for a new guide. It should be relatively cheap. Shipping is too expensive nowadays to ship anywhere. Even for warranty you'd likely have 15 just to ship. A local tackle shop charges $10 for a guide replacement
  15. While getting you his account number with a vendor showing he is a dealer can be reassuring, that doesn't mean anything. It could still be a different line. Unlikely though. I can tell the difference between cheap mono and Invizx for sure though. Only time will time. Hope everything turns out legit
  16. I believe so. Very interesting rods!
  17. According to ALX, they don't roll any of there blanks at all. We do source our rod blanks from 5 different factories. This includes both US and overseas facilities. ArkRod in Harrison, AR has never been a supplier of ours. ArkRod is now closed and has produced rods for other brands in the past, notably Falcon. Anyone using ArkRod is looking for a new blank company. So why do we not roll our own blanks? Several reasons. One - capitol. You are looking at over a half $M investment in equipment alone. As many of you know, ALX is a family owned operation that has been bootstrapped over the past 10 years. We have never had investors nor taken out a single loan. This means we have zero debt and we can run the business the way we want. A second reason is the benefit I mentioned... we benefit immensely in being able to source products from factories that specialize or excel in what we want. Great example - our new ENOX blanks required a unique cello layup to achieve the finished product we wanted. That would have required a big investment in equipment if we did everything in house. That same line may not be so good at glass blanks. Well, we want to offer both.
  18. Only some ALX are in the US. They source from other companies (some US, some overseas). They don't roll their own blanks.
  19. Lol. No idea how you hold it like that as it looks so uncomfortable but your line if this is wrong, I dont want to be right is CLASSIC! LOL
  20. They typically only clam pack lower end reels (99$ or less). I only occasionally see clam packs though
  21. Exactly my point!! I never said bass angler, I said fisherman which could be salt water anglers. It encompasses all. You aren't reading. You are making generalized statements about all mono and flourocarbon lines when in fact Invizx, Trilene, and Shooter are so different regarding stretch, abrasion resistance, memory. What you said is right but you can't group all as the same.
  22. While most of what you said is correct, you made a bunch of generalized statements that do not apply for all FC and all mono lines. Am I correct in saying you keep fish because most fisherman keep fish...
  23. Likely stolen from the factories or from a Shimano employee that would be in trouble lol. Any up close pics or more info would be awesome. Thanks
  24. Tranx 300 is a bit overkill unless you are throwing 10 XDs, Cloud 9 25s, Z Boss 25s religiously there is just no reason to have it. The Tatula 200 and Calcutta 200D are plenty capable. Have even fished a Ryoga CC and it's amazing! Never figured a 6XD would call for a Tranx 300 but to each his own lol
