  1. "Actually, Roy believes any additive serves both to mask human and other odors as well as give off a food appeal. The major advantage from his perspective is that fish hold a bait longer and thus this enhances the ability of fisherman to detect strikes. This is not a trivial issue since he is convinced that most folks get five times more strikes than they feel." https://www.bassresource.com/fishing/odors.html So scents may help with strike detection, as will finger on line, sensitive rods, keeping line tight, watching slack line presentations and knowing what a bite feels like as Glen talks about here, https://youtu.be/NxbSE8ffPFg Is there more? The thought that I may be missing four out of five makes me sick. I know that time on the water is key, I'm doing that daily, I've racked my pea brain seeking what else I could do to detect bites and cant think of much. I use braid to make up for my less that super sensitive sticks, I've switched to high-vis for wacky/slack line baits, I stay in physical contact with my line when fishing plastics and jigs, I swing on everything that I know is not a rock or wood. Dont laugh but I have even tried closing my eye's and wearing ear plugs to limit distractions. What are some of y'alls tips on strike detection? And are these high end sensitive rods really the cats meow when it comes to strike detection, what else could I do considering that my highest end rod is 795flip of the Fury line? Also do you guys find that the strike is different seasonally? Gotta be right? Summer has always been a slam feast as far a fish hitting for me, maybe it could be better? But with the slower metabolism that cooler water brings is the bite softer? Every fish that I have caught this fall/winter has been a reaction bite(jerkbaits). Might have to invent electronic strike detector!
  2. First what do you have that no one else does? Without a ground breaking new product, you will have a tough row to hoe. 1. How would anyone but you know this? What are warehouses renting for in your area? Starting small, I would think your garage may work, get a good lock. My last website was built for around 2000.00, but I didn't process online sales. Websites are a massive rabbit hole, optimization, SEO, the list goes on and on. Speed, function and relevancy and domain age are what matter to Google. And Google matters, for an online business. Best to hire a professional website manager if funds allow. I couldn't do it myself, dig ditches all day, get home and work on quotes and then work on website, only to screw things up. No thanks. 2. Contact an attorney specializing in copy right/trademark. Or, https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-1-d&q=copy+right%2Ftrademark+my+own+logo 3. You got me here, I'm a fisherman. I think asking fishermen how to run a online business is a recipe for disaster. Better to ask some businessmen, as any business is less about the product than putting product in front of people who are buying. I cant think of a more competitive sector, Googan baits doesn't have a great product, they have appeal. Marketing is where these bait companies succeed. How are you going to fiance. Inventory, materials, ads, marketing and promotion , website, acct software, payment software, shipping and packaging? And most importantly, how are you going to pay your self? Are you going to continue to work a regular job while you build up your business? Savings?
  3. Ya, well I'm liking you more and more all the time. I get ya.
  4. Jermination: Sougayilang minnows weigh in at .49oz and wLure Minnow (divers) .51oz. Terrible hooks and rings and some funky colors however they are catching fish.
  5. 6 month ago I bought several lots of jerkbaits on Amazon, something like 20.00 for 12 baits. Currently slaying smallies with them. Did the same with a lot of crankbaits and jigs, same result. Hooks and split rings sucked, still saved a bundle after upgrades. I did however get burned on my first jointed swimbait (didn't swim) of course Amazon accepted return.
  6. Dont think your going to need a swimbait specific rod for the baits and weights listed, I'm using a Dobyns 795Flip as my light weight swimbait stick. Very versatile rod, weightless stick baits through swimbaits to about 1.5oz.
  7. Why is it that some source their info and others dont?
  8. I run Green powerpro 50# for everything, except my wacky worm stick. It gets Suffix performance in Hi-vis yellow, allows me to detect bites on slack line better. I carry a small knitting needle to pick out tough backlashes(not my idea, I learned it here).
  9. It's gotta be Outlaw country for me, none of that Nashville B*! A little Hank Williams III, Bob Wayne, Coe and I'm lookin to rip'em outa whatever hole they be hiding in.
  10. I don't know, I wonder how much difference there really is? Tough choice. But for me if I were making this choice, line capacity would trump braking or light weight spools. Your going to lose some casting distance with the 200 over a SV for sure but my 200 isn't any more difficult to use that my 100's. In fact my 300 is just as easy as the rest and does not have Magforce-Z. I have my 200 mounted on a Dobyns 765FLIP that pulls a lot of GP use, from weightless stick baits to light swimbaits. Pitches and flips well and will send 3/4 to 1-1/4oz baits a country mile. According to this site the 200 has Magforce-Z, http://www.daiwa-cormoran.info/dw/en/products_1/baitcasting_reels_1/tatula_hd_200hsl/5,1,74,75,1,1__products-model.htm?ovs_prdrows2=10
  11. And that was 12LB, what if its thirty? Has me thinking a 200 size. Only one I've owned and used is a Tatula 200 h/s, love it.
  12. I'm using a Tatula CT with a Berkley BCLR701M, reel is loaded with 50lbs Sufix Hi-vis yellow. This setup allows me to fish the far bank on canals that I fish. Skips effortlessly under cover. With my heavy/fast, my cast distance was about 2/3 of what I'm getting now and accuracy suffered by comparison, In other words no where near the fish.
  13. I have to remember to grab a dowel, I keep wrapping line around my arm to do the same.
  14. Not one of yall but I do, floating braid is my bite detector. Tried mono and floro but kept missing fish, braid much easier to see. I believe that the action of the bait is also better with braid.
  15. You owe me a keyboard.☕
  16. And then there is build your own.
  17. Gotta fish it around Domino plant. Everybody knows that Stipers love powdered sugar dusted rats.
  18. I dont know, Bud. I know plenty of people who are itching for a fight, like the guy from last night. Maybe compensation, Raging hormones, just an *sshole, mental health issues, bullied at some point and want to make things right, too many Rambo films which plays into the big one someone who thinks he or she is something that they are not, Like the one guy you knew. None of which have anything to do with a Gun. My Gun is a deputy that does not take five minutes to act. And that is reassuring when I'm out in the sticks.
  19. And it has I carry so I will not be a statistic, I fish from the bank and some pretty sketchy people stop by now and then. Just last night a crazy dude stopped by, He'd been chased out of a camp ground near by. Kept going on about checking his perimeter and how the those that forced him out were going to get their due. As I was packing up to get away from this guy, I became another one of his enemies. I guess he didn't like that I wasn't going to listen to his B.S. I got out of there without having to resort to any violence or even the threat of it. But if the situation did go further south I would have been in a position to defend myself. Family and some friends have suggested that I fish elsewhere, the Second amendment ensures that I do not have to limit my choices. Period. My Springfield tactile .45 goes with me everywhere, As does my 74 lbs pit bull/Boxer mix Buddy. God help em if the dog has to act, and hell can welcome them if its me.
  20. I think a Tatula 100 was the perfect step up after my Kastking experience. As in night and day. There are some screaming deals right now, https://www.americanlegacyfishing.com/daiwa-tatula-100-casting-reels.html
  21. Ha, make my day jetski!
  22. I'm gonna invent this, then I'll have the $ to buy all the gear my heat desires! I shall name it the "super splice system 2000". And yes there will be an App!
