  1. Attacked by the bait monkey over the past two months. Much of it not pictured, because it hasn't arrived yet. The monkey made me buy the rod, then made me hunt down and buy the sv103xs to mount on it. THEN, shouted that my TDZ 103H needed some parts upgraded. sv103xs with RCS 1016 spool, mounted on a first gen Orochi XX Tour Versatile. TDZ 103H with ZPI RC-001 spool, Steez EX 100mm handle, OG Zillion drag star. The monkey and I have like 30 jigs in the mail from Siebert. The monkey is VERY serious. Spooling up now!
  2. Awesome, guys. Thank you for the timely responses, and great info as always. This site has been extremely helpful in making tackle purchases and getting the information regarding the tackle I'm interested in. The washer between click plate and AR bearing is there, and the drag adjustment yielded no changes in the spin. I'll check out that felt washer you mentioned. The reel fishes great, but this is my first venture in to the TD-Z. I just wanted to be sure it wasn't an issue that may cause avoidable or premature wear to any internal components. I have much to learn and also much to appreciate about this platform in the future. The handle on my only OG Zillion spins very free and smooth, when compared to the TD Fuego or TD-Z. Each of these reels are the first ones I have owned from these platforms, so I'm still getting to know them. Over time I hope to learn all I need, to build and maintain an arsenal of more TD-Z's and Zillions to come. Cheers!
  3. I'm bringing this thread back from the dead just a little, but I am going to be on topic a bit. I have an eBay sourced TDZ 103h, and it's my first one so I'd like to present an issue and see if it's related to that shaft bearing. While the spool free spins great, and everything is pretty dang smooth on a normal retrieve motion, there seems to be an issue. Once I give the handle a good free spin, the handle moves well at high speed for a few seconds, then sort of abruptly slows and stops. When it slows and stops, it's accompanied by a slight geary/rough feeling. The previous owner cleaned serviced this reel before shipping it, and when I did the carbontex swap it looked good to my uneducated eyes. Are the symptoms I'm experiencing on the free spin of the handle, related to an issue with the "ball bearing c" you mentioned or could it be a number of other things? Sorry if I should have created a new post. I just felt you guys are already on point with this reel and the topic was relative enough. Thank you for any help.
  4. Awesome. This is the kind of information I'm after. It seems like Norman isn't really worth the time for the most part, especially since I've done more research after reading your comments. Wylie has been on my list since I saw Takahiro Omori win the classic there when I was a kid, so it deserves a visit at the least. It seems the fisheries you mention as primo, are the ones worth investing some time learning if I decided to relocate to that area. Especially once I own a boat ? You guys have many fun pond/river bank fishing opportunities out there as well? River smallies are fun, and farm pond largemouth are classic. Thanks to all for any info, if you decide to chime in. Interesting info on the cancer cases, huh. That's over my head for now! Mountain trout waters are something I'll miss, leaving Colorado so that's a good point. Santee Cooper rings a bell, so that's some more research I can do. I also have friends in Asheville, but I know that's 3 ½+ hours West of the areas we're talking about.
  5. Very cool. I appreciate your response! It sounds like you guys have a lot of opportunities for great fishing close to home out there, with much more within a couple hours drive. I also know you guys have a longer season, and more attainable year round fishing for bass compared to us in Colorado. Would you mind if I shot you a PM, with a couple questions kind of off topic from fishing? Thanks.
  6. Hello, fellow members of Bassresource. I hope you're all doing well in these wild times. I'm currently working towards getting my ducks in a row, so I can get myself a truck that will one day tow a bass boat behind it. For many years, I've day dreamed about having my own boat, and fishing some of the classic waters in the South East. Becoming a resident in an eastern state with great bass fishing seems like a logical step, since being a Colorado resident is a geographical disadvantage in that regard. I've considered many places, but I think North Carolina would make a fine home state if I were to venture East. Now, I have a question for all the North Carolina resident members. Where would you recommend one live in NC, to access some great waters for the green, and the bronze fish?? I'm also a musician, so a balance of city/country life would be great. Hoping to be in close proximity to a large b.o.w. like Norman or be able to visit Wylie in SC often. This is the beginning of my research so I'm open to any insight, information, and advice you may have. I hope you'll welcome me as a fellow bass angler, once I decide to make the move East. Thank you!
