Look for some of those grass style jigs with more of a bullet shaped head, like the Duckett 4x4 I mentioned. With that being said, sometimes it just comes with the territory fishing that type cover from the bank. But a bullet shaped head will definitely be more effective. Another option is a pegged t-rigged plastic with no weed guard or exposed hook to get caught up in that slimy stuff. Also work on pitching your jig in holes in the cover, rather then dragging in through. Think of a vertical presentation as opposed to horizontal.

What kind of cover will you be fishing? Cant go wrong with an arkie style jig, as a all around jig. This year Ive been having success fishing a duckett 4x4 swim/grass jig. Its been very versatile for me. Pitching it, swimming it, hoping it, etc..

I throw 3/8 oz, 1/2 oz, and sometimes a 1 oz depending on the type of cover.

Usually when punching I will rig a bead between my knot and bullet weight. My question is, is this necessary when using a skirt? Ive never used a skirt while punching, unless its a actual jig. Ive got some heavy grass in this local pond ive been fishing, and I believe there are some big bass in it. I want to create a larger profile bait while t-rigging a creature bait. thanks in advance

IMO it does seem like the St. Croix runs heavier. At least with the Triumph line of rods. Ive fished the mojo series rod before and dont remember it being that heavy. I also have a gloomis in similar specs and I feel a big difference

My favorite way to fish is casting/pitching 3/8 oz to 1/2 oz arkie style or swim jigs into cover. Be it brush, vegatation, logs, etc.. Nothing too too heavy though. I'll swim it, hop it, let it fall into pockets..whatever. Im looking for a versatile rod to pair up with my Curado. Right now Im fishing with a 7ft MH/F St. Croix Triumph. Its a great rod, but just to heavy for what im wanting to do. Im having trouble feeling the lure, and the weight of the rod just doesnt feeling right to me when working a jig the way i want. Im looking for something light with enough backbone to set the hook and get a big bass out of cover. 6'6" to 7ft at around the $130 price range would be perfect. I'd prefer MH/F but was at Dicks today checking out a Fenwick HMG 7ft M/F and it felt pretty. Just worried the medium action might be to light. Any of you guys have any recommendations? Thanks in advance Edit* I should clear up what I meant. I probably shouldnt of used the word "light". What i meant was, IMO, the truumph feels heavier then other rods around the same specs. And for me it feels clunky, and unbalanced.

Forgive me if this is a stupid question, but what are the benefits of swapping out a citica spool for a curado? Ive read on here about people doing this to their citica but im wondering why? I have a curado g6 that i rarely use. Would it be beneficial to put that spool in my citica 200e?

Hey Fellas,l Im interested in upgrading my Citica 200e gear ratio from 6:1 to something higher. Could you guys point me in the right direction? Could I buy a complete kit somewhere or would it be better to order parts from Shimano? Thanks in advance
