  • About Me

    <p>
    I used to fish a lot when I was younger, but life got busy, and I haven't fished since my late 20's. Now I'm about to turn 60, early retired due to back and joint problems, so I'm bored out of my mind. Decided I needed a hobby to get my old tired butt out of the house, and my old favorite pastime of fishing seems like my best bet, without putting to much undue stress on the old joints.

  1. Hello and welcome from Upstate/Central NYS. I'm new myself, and kind of like you, time to start getting out and enjoying fishing again after a long layoff!
  2. Thank you. When I saw this forum, I kind of figured was a good place to start!
  3. Hello everyone, I used to fish a lot when I was younger, but in my late 20's, life got busy, I moved away, and haven't fished since. I'm now about to turn 60 this summer, and since I took an early retirement due to back and joint issues, decided I'm way to bored, and need a hobby to get me out of the house and into the outdoors that I love. Fishing immediately came to mind, since I used to love it so much. Admittedly, I'm pretty rusty, and having no boat, not really sure where to go around here (upstate NY..more specifically, Rochester area) but I thought I'd start here. Bass was always my favorite fish to go after. but honestly, I'm happy catching pretty much anything. I just like to get out and enjoy the sport. Stumbled upon this forum, and so....here I am. Any tips or ideas would be welcome, but I'm sure as I hunt through the threads, I'll pick up some ideas as to where to start. I'm hoping to find some shore spots to dip my line, but also, places where I can rent a small boat to get away from the shore crowds. If there's anyone around who would like a fishing partner, feel free to hit me up, but alone or with a new friend, I'm bound and determined to get out and drown some baits.
