John L Morris has bought many competitors and discontinued a lot of them. Bass Cat, Skeeter and Phoenix are about all of the major glass companies that White River Marine Group does not have.
They don’t all carry the same things. 100 miles north of here there is a major Nitro dealer. He also sells Ranger and Triton but I’ve never seen a tin boat there.
The price point is normally due to the electronics, trolling motor, and outboard motor. Mostly they are smaller and less powerful, ergo cheaper.
I have had both. Imo Low is several grades up.
Go ahead and put the asgps puck on. It will be the most accurate for you. I have 3 Solix units. If I had do overs I would have Helix units.
When I switched to Humminbird from Lowrance I was used to touch screens so I chose the Solix. One of them is in dash. It has been back 3 times for repair. One of the bow units had to go back because the touch screen quit working.
Now I get gps lost alarms every trip. I had the asgps puck changed out. It didn’t help. No one has any idea how to fix the problem.
The shop that does my electronics work says they have several customers like me. The Helix seems to be the reliable work horse.
If you want the latest greatest the Apex is brand new. There are good reads about Solix on ***.
I just looked at mine. I have some dating back to the 70s. All I could find was on some of the very oldest ones, nothing. On others maybe as old, maybe not, Wiggle Wart. And on the newest ones, Storm. Does this help you?
I can’t speak to the wiring but on the batteries you need batteries of the same age for the trolling motor. You system is only as good as your weakest battery.
