  1. If you don’t need the extra line that the 3000 takes get the 2500. The only difference between them is the spool. The frames are the same.
  2. I have tried it both ways and never have seen any difference. I make a lot of my own plastics and don’t use any scent.
  3. I do not. I see no need for that. The impoundments that I fish range from 25,000 acres to 54,000 acres having from a few hundred to over 1,000 miles of shoreline. One of my favorite feeder creeks has dozens of coves containing hundreds of cedar trees and is close to 2 miles long. During a normal day I will travel 6-10 miles to fish different places. Where I live there are lakes in all directions within an hour’s drive. Some offer black bass only while others have musky, stripers, or hybrids.
  4. I have a Dowco for my boat. The poles are only necessary for outdoor storage. It works great going down the road. You might find a custom cover maker who can make you one without the boat being present.
  5. My eat most of them but my favorite is asparagus. I grow my own and for several months a year I eat them twice a day. I eat them raw, steamed, baked and grilled. I store some chunked and frozen for winter frittatas.
  6. You might call Humminbird customer service and ask them. They have a bunch of good techs.
  7. Google used boat values.
  8. I just ordered polarized prescription sunglasses at the shop where my optometrist is. I wanted progressive lenses and have had to have them redone in the past so I was leery of going online.
  9. In general I think if you can see them they can see you.
  10. I believe it is going to be regional. What is good for me may not work north or south of me. I am not locked into any bait or method. I use whatever I can get them to bite. The last few years a ZinkerZ fished shaky would work all the time. This year I went for months without a bite on it. The one year around bait for me is the jig. However even that has changed. This year finesse jigs are all that have worked, especially in 3/16 oz.
  11. I suggest that you go to a dealer and tell them what you want to do and let them tell you what options might be available for you or call the boat manufacturer and ask them.
  12. I am a Power Pro user. I started with it many years ago and have never seen a reason to switch. I use it in several sizes and only use white or yellow.
  13. Devcon 2 Ton is highly regarded as is JBWeld.
  14. I use braid with leader in clear water especially when finesse fishing. I had my butt beat too many times until I finally added the leader.
  15. This thread got me to thinking about my boat. It is 20’4” long. Add the jack plate and motor makes it 23’4”. Then the crank and trailer tongue another 3’. So it is 26’4” with the motor trimmed all the way down. I had my boat bay in the garage built 15x30. I have walking room in the back but the tongue has to be swung away so I can walk around the front.
  16. I spend very little on baits because I make most of mine. I only had one custom rod built. I’ve probably spent about $200 on hooks and other supplies. My big expense is boat and truck gasoline which is about $50 a trip and I go twice a week.
  17. 6 for me. Three Gloomis rods for 5/16, 3/8, 7/16 and 1/2 oz. And three custom rods for 1/8, 3/16 and 1/4 oz.
  18. Does your lake have gar?
  19. I have 3 rods with them. I only have one con, my line threader does not work with them. Everything else is a pro.
  20. I typically go twice a week. My outboard is a 250 hp and uses quite a bit of gasoline. I fish lakes where I might travel as much as 30 miles in a day. I budget $500 for boat and truck gasoline and boat fuel additives. Some months it takes it and some months it doesn’t.
  21. Small square bills have worked well for us on some days in very shallow water.
  22. I started using it last winter. I was having trouble getting consistency in my knots. I decided to make a kit just for the fg. So I bought the knot tool and put the kit together. As I practiced tying it I was not keeping things in the proper sequence so I made a list of the exact steps needed to do an fg knot the right way. I’m not saying make a kit but you might benefit from creating a list of the proper steps so you can be sure to repeat them in order.
  23. Thanks for your concern. I wore glasses with progressive lenses for years to help with my astigmatism. In 2011 I had to have cataract surgery and opted to pay the additional cost for toric lenses. I haven’t worn prescription glasses since.
  24. I go to the eye Dr next Monday. I need bifocals for threading hook eyes, etc. I am wearing off the rack now. Do your polarized lenses work well on the water? Is it worth it to shell out the bucks for polarized glasses with progressive lenses. Thanks for sharing your experience.
  25. I remember you guys from that forum. I had the same handle on it.
