  1. Gman a fluro leader has lessened the problem for me though not eliminated it.
  2. Wrap some thread around in the space and see if that helps.
  3. I don't change anything because of a front. This time of the year I am fishing tubes and craw jigs. I just expect the fish to be a little tighter to cover not any deeper. Most of the time they won't chase a bait. It must be right in their dinner bucket.
  4. My best day for any one species was white bass. Another guy and I had 312. The second best day was the two of us fishing for white/striper hybrids. We had 285 up to 8.5 lbs.
  5. I have a Gloomis IMX 843 SJR which is a little too stiff for the way I use it. I'd like to trade it for an IMX SJR 782 if anyone has one and wants it to live somewhere else.
  6. Loosening the drag is a good thing. I loosen the drags on all my baitcasters when the day is done before the boat goes on the trailer.
  7. That is a hard call to make. I have owned both and both have their good and bad points. I currently run a glass boat because I fish lakes from 20,000-60,000 acres. I have it for the stability and safety. I think you and your bud will just have to work this thing out. Is this a partnership with both of you paying for the boat?
  8. Organizing stuff is always a pain for me. I keep some in clear boxes, some in tackle bags and some in original packages. I bought a plastic closet at Lowes which has helped. In the pic it was just a couple of days old. I may have to buy another one.
  9. Deep is a relative term. If you are from TX it is anything over 5'. I seldom catch anything over 70' deep here in MO but do catch a lot of fish from 30-55' deep in the winter. Last year a big money tourney was won with the fish coming from 105 fow. I use tubes, jigs, grubs, and jigging spoons for my deep fishing. If you have any bluffs where you fish, I suggest you get on the end of some of them and do some experimenting.
  10. It all depends on the weight of the baits you throw. I use 3 different rods for spinnerbaits. They range from 6.5' to 7' from MH to H. It all depends on the size of the bait. For 3/8 tandem, single and buzz I like the MH rods. For 1/2s I like the H. The rods I use are Gloomis IMX 783, 843, and 844. They are priced from around $230-$265. I like them all but for the range of baits one rod won't do it all. The H is too stiff for long casts on the lighter baits and the MHs are too limber for the heavier ones.
  11. You will need a piece of plexiglass or sheet aluminum, drill 1" holes in it so the water can go back and forth. If you use plexi. you will have to rig some way to hold it (brackets). If you use alum you can bend the ends and screw or rivet it to the livewell walls.
  12. I have been in the boat business. I honestly can say that in my top ten boats Nitro isn't there.
  13. We fished post cold front conditions last week. Jigs and tubes gave us 40 bass.
  14. I have used sissors, side cutters, knives, nail clippers, etc. But now I use the Power Zap. It cuts through braid like a hot knife through butter and has a 1000 other uses for plastics. http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/CFPage?CMID=&objectID=28594&langId=-1&mode=article&pageView=image&catalogId=10001&partNumber=&storeId=10151&deptId=000000000&categoryId=000000000&jumpToPage=1&currentPage=0&subdeptId=000000000
  15. If you should heed the offered advice on the 843 let me know and we might be able to work something out.
  16. I heat the heads and put them hook first into the powder paint. The stuff on the hook wipes off.
  17. I have the IMX 843 and I think it is way too much for your trout fishing. I find that it is too stiff for most of the reasons I bought it. I would like to trade it for an 782.
  18. It is called the flatfoot. It is the one made for Motor Guide. They also have one for Minn Kota.
  19. That sounds real big. I have a 21' boat with a 27 gallon livewell.
  20. I have had one for a couple of years and this summer bought a new depthfinder. I was in the bilge installing a transducer. I was amazed at all the stuff (grubs, small jigs, and various other items ) which could only have come through that drain.
  21. In order to get the tax refunded on off road fuel we have to get a receipt and have it signed by the station attendand and marked paid. Then we have to fill out the proper forms and send them in along with all the receipts. In a month or so we get a refund check.

Check Jan's Netcraft, Barlow's Tackle Shop, Ztackle.com, Stamina Inc., Do-It I know Do-It has some because I ordered some yesterday.
  23. Yes as found in cigarette lighter fluid. A very good chemist recommended it to me a few years ago.
  24. Read your manual. You probably have the option of zooming after the pic is taken. If so, then all you have to do it get yourself in it then do the cropping later. Practice a few times in the garage. I actually had to build a little box to put my camera on.
  25. That is all part of the toy business. I have State Farm and it costs a bunch but the boat is insured for a bunch.
