  1. I fish 4" tubes with 1/8 and 1/4 oz jig inserts. Most of the time I use a weed guard that I attach to the jig head.
  2. 4" tubes are the only size I use and catch several smallmouth each year on them.
  3. I had some, cut it off, threw it away, bought Power Pro and haven't looked back.
  4. There is a unit that can be put in with a plastic plug that has a T on the end of it. I have had it on my last 2 boats but installing it will depend on what you already have and how hard it is to get out. I have run the type of plug you mention many hundreds of hours on the outside of the boat and had no problem. I don't pull my plug on the boat. That is why I have a pump.
  5. Many bass boats come from the factory with a 42" shaft trolling motor. If you plan to fish windy water then I suggest a 45".
  6. The one I like most is a MH F 6.5'.
  7. I have had a motor or two that did that very thing with cable steering. I used a bungy on the steering wheel to keep it from turning.
  8. If you spend a little time doing some research on this site and www.tackleunderground.com you will come up with all the info you need. Also look at places like Netcraft and Barlows to see what materials they have. You will need some molds, plastisol, dye, and a way to heat the plastisol.
  9. I never run the gasoline out of my motor. I only buy it 20-30 gallons at a time so it is seasonal and fresh.
  10. I have a spinnerbait box and a spinnerbait/buzzbait box. I threw my other spinnerbait boxes away. This thing is great.
  11. Don't worry about it. Take it back. Those people are fantastic. I lost a lens to one of my black lights. I called and asked if I could get another lens. They said bring the light in and we will see what we can do. I took the light in and they gave me another one. A couple of weeks ago a guy exchanged a fly rod and reel at the Springfield, MO store that had burned in his house.
  12. I buy mine 1000 at a time from Shortys. They have a retail online store. http://www.captainhookswarehouse.com/
  13. Good luck. I'm waiting for those pics.
  14. Here in Mid MO post spawn cold fronts rarely change the water surface temp more than a couple of degrees and then only for a short time. The post spawn fish usually react to this type of cold front by moving close to cover and not really changing their depth. For example, when we have flooded bushes and a cold front comes through you have to fish right in the middle of the bushes instead of on the edges.
  15. I live in the heart of Nitro country. Those things don't hold up very well and depreciate very rapidly. I have seen them only a couple of years old and they looked terrible with loose things flopping on the boat and trailer. Stratos is owned by the Genmar corp which also makes Ranger and Champion. I'd go with the Stratos of the two. Another consideration is service. I have read a lot of night mare stories about Tracker Marine and the (lack of) speed and quality of their service.
  16. You can but it isn't the best situation. Lots of guys who run 36V systems and don't have room for a 4 th battery crank off a deep cycle.
  17. Fish have no reasoning power. If it moves they eat it. Give the jig and any kind of trailer a try.
  18. If you don't want to drill holes below the water line, you can install a board like the ones provided with Lund boats. You put the td on the board and attach the board to the transom above the water line.
  19. I use a modified San Diego Jam knot on braid to bait and have never had any slipage. On braid to fluro leader I use the Alberto's knot. Neither one on them require any kind of glue.
  20. Aside from which might be faster or more powerful, the Opti is way more efficient and environmentally friendly.
  21. Here is how I do it. I took an old set of TV rabbit ears and cut off a piece. I cut the head off a nail and put it in the tube.
  22. The trailers that come with Trackers are the worse things I have ever seen. I have been around several different models and none of them load worth a hoot. You will have to install some side guides in order to get the thing to load properly. Then learn how deep to back the trailer and drive the boat on it.

  24. I only use Shimano reels because they last and I know how to service them. I only use rods with a lifetime warranty; St. Croix Avids, Fenwick HMGs and Gloomis IMXs.
