  1. I use the cover when the roads are wet. I use it for long road trips like to TX or MS. I also use it when I am camped which is usually 8-10 weeks per year. Normal back and forth to the lake I don't use it.
  2. Not much of a job at all if you can find a trolling motor with the same foot print as yours then it is just a bolt on job and run some wires.
  3. Pro Craft was also absorbed by Johnny. He has also bought out a lot of aluminum competitors and center consoles that competed with his Maco boat.
  4. I thought Legend was basically Charlie Lunas Cobra rebuilt.
  5. I use shrink tubing that I bought from "the Mud Hole". That way I can color code them for easier extraction from the rod lockers.
  6. That is one that I don't understand at all. That boat is not widely enough marketed to be any kind of competition to him. He has bought up a lot of brands to get them off the market but this seems like a waste of money to me but what the heck. John L. has more money than he can count. He has spend millions and 7 years just redoing the Wonders of Wildlife Museum at the main store.
  7. Have a ferrite choke installed on the trolling motor power cord (not a clamp on). My X5 was driving me nuts till I had that done.
  8. Depends on the boat, your equipment, where and how it will be stored. All I did was put a writer on my equipment along with good insurance coverage. The only time my boat is not with me or in the garage is camping and I lock everything and try to park it near a lighted area.
  9. What ever the head, what works best for me is to down size the hook and use a leader with braid. When rigged that way I can lift the jig up to a limb and actually feel the braid on the limb. When it gets to the leader I can no longer feel it and know that I'll be needing to gently get it over the limb next time I feel something (unless that something is a strike).
  10. I use a Gloomis Bronze back paired with a Shimano Curado 70 and 6# fluorocarbon. I throw Ned rigs with it.
  11. I like Shimanos in the 2500 size.
  12. Bandit 300s and wiggle warts for me.
  13. Putting plastics in boiling water then removing them and allowing the to lie flat with straighten out the kinks but I don't think it will make them softer.
  14. The largest Nitro dealership is 100 miles away from me. These guys have had some great deals on their boats. I don't use them for service but I don't think you can beat their cash price anywhere else. Of course you have to get the boat to the east coast which won't be cheap but you might still save money, especially if you wanted to do some fishing along the way and scheduled a vacation to come get your boat. The place is called Pros Choice Marine in Warsaw, MO. The owner's name is Luke.
  15. I have towed thousands of miles with a boat cover. Like stated the cover needs to fit snugly. An important fact that will help with vibration and wear of the cover and straps is to give them 1/2 turn on the way to the trailer and another 1/2 turn on the way back up to the connection. That way they will brake up the air flow and not start flopping in the wind. We pulled my old Champion from MO to south TX and MS many times and when I sold it my 14 year old cover looked almost as good as new and never had had a repair.
  16. Your motor has 3 wires because it is a 12/24 volt so you can run either 12 volts or 24 volts. A straight 24 volt trolling motor only needs 2 wires because the batteries are hooked up in series. You just need to find out which wires are the series wires and then don't use the wire that has the parallel hook up for 12 volts. You will be able to tell this where they are hooked to your batteries. If you can't figure it out post a pic of the battery hook up.
  17. I've had all kinds over the years. I switched to rubber quite a while back. I won't have anything else in the boat.
  18. I use CLR on the motor and on my fiberglass boat when needed. I don't know how it would do on aluminum boat.
  19. My daughter got me some at Wal-Mart in the sporting goods section. I am wearing them instead of my Costas and doing fine.
  20. Your bait has to be in the cone for you to see it. The size of the cone is different depending on the kHz that you are using. A 200 kHz transducer's cone diameter is approximately 1/3 of the depth. Smaller numbers make a larger cone.
  21. There was a time when my wife had her own boat. She had a deck boat with a bimini top. I found it to be a pita. Every time I found a place to fish the angle of the sun would be wrong for her to be in the shade. Boy was I glad to see her finally get rid of it.
  22. Like the others said they look pretty good from a distance. I have both of the molds and the PT is my main jig these days.
  23. X2 You can get a fair selection at Hobby Lobby.
  24. If you can raise the deck before cutting it would be a very good thing.
