  1. Id suggest a fenwick. I will be purchasing either the HMX($99) or the elite tech($140) to pair with my tatula CT. But the HMX's seem real nice.
  2. Seems like the Nasci is the improved version of the shimano sahara which i absolutely love.
  3. Hey guys, Just wanted to share my experience with the abu garcia revo x and see if anyone else had the same issue with it or what may have caused it. I bought the revo x left handed 7:1 on july 2. Used it almost everyday, mainly frog fishing. 2 days ago, while frog fishing, i casted, and the thumb release popped back. After i picked out the birds nest, I casted again, and the reel was grinding and not giving me the same casting distance. I was really disappointed because it was a very quiet, smooth casting reel. Anyways, I returned it and put in $30 bucks with it and picked up a tatula ct. Anyone else have this issue of the thumb release popping back when you cast?
  4. I think a lot of people are missing the point of what I intended this reel to be used for. Im in chicago. So i am only frogging for a little bit until the weather goes nuts again. Right now i am using my abu garcia revo x that i just got with 12 lb mono and its working fine. My buddy bought a pflueger monarch from walmart the other day and it doesnt seem to be giving him problems at all. Unfortunately i am LH and finding Pflueger reels in Lh retrieve is very hard around here. Figured if im gonna order online, might as well explore other options. I can find the pflueger presidents pretty cheap, and I know everyone loves the spinning version of it. Hows the baitcaster?
  5. Hey guys, Looking to buy a cheap reel for frogging since I don't do it that much in a year. Was looking at the pflueger monarchs and trions and black maxxs, but I was wondering if anyone can tell me how the kastking stuff(in the 40$range) compares to these other cheaper reels from other companies.
  6. Still Berkly big game. Strong as hell and very easy to manage and tie knots with.. Suffix pro mix comes in 2nd. I know ill get crap for this but cajun red is another favorite of mine.
  7. So I am pretty d**n proficient with a baitcaster now after learning on my BPS Pro qualifier 2 limited edition that i got on sale for $50. Without the sale it is $100, but im just gonna say it, it doesn't feel like its worth $100. Anyways time to upgrade. I was looking at the shimano slx, but honestly after comparing it to what i have already, it doesn't seem like much of an upgrade. What price range would you guys say i would be in for it to be worth the upgrade from what I already got? Any suggestions on reels? A bps employee told me that even a tatula probably wouldn't even be that much of a significant upgrade.
  8. I don't know, I bought my first lightning rod about 2 months ago and bought another 1 in medium immediately. Does great in my opinion. If it weren't for having other setups (I was late to the lightning rod party obviously) I would have just used a fleet of those for all my bass fishing lol.
  9. Nice, maybe i should throw some light braid on and bust it out more
  10. What place in the fishing world besides ultralight would you use a 1000 for? I have a 1000 stradic fl and i love the reel, but it usually just sticks on my ultralight setup.
  11. As hwright said you should be fine and eventually the rod will be the first thing you upgrade. Berkeley lightning rods are great and cheap at $40 at retail(cheaper if you look around) if you're that concerned with the rod and want a cheap, quick replacement. The penn will last you forever. I dont see anything really overkill here especially if you are also putting livebait on it.
  12. Seriously. Its ******* bass fishing. They go after anything on any rod or reel.
