  1. White Wing Resort has been good for me in the past. It is on Indian Point, just down lake from KC. Water front with access to a private boat ramp and slips. They also have a sister property right up the road (White Wing Lodge) that is a little cheaper and has access to the same ramp and slips.
  2. Thanks for the info. I assume that’s enforced for loading and unloading then too?
  3. Question for the KC folks. Does anyone know if you can put a standard fiberglass bass boat with gas motor on Shawnee Mission Park lake? I know the regulation says electric motor only and with purchase of a permit. If you were to not fire up the big motor and only use the trolling motor, I assume this would this pass? Any have experience with this? Thanks!
  4. 25-30 minutes for smaller idle only type lakes on the week days after work. 45mins-1 hour for some of the bigger lakes on the weekends. 3.5 hours to my personal favorite, which is Table Rock. I don't typically spend more than an hour driving each way.
  5. Nice work! I had one that I think was a bite and that was in the marina cove which was the warmest and clearest I found. It looked like maybe a mud line was creepeing around the corner when I left so I’m sure the marina was a little dirtier today. Stacks were not running at all yesterday and the outlet was the coldest part I fished.
  6. Was out there yesterday. Blanked. Cold, muddy, post-frontal. No bueno. Were the stacks back on today?
  7. For sure. That would be a big bag. And yes, 18” is very tough almost anywhere, not just Kansas.
  8. Yeah, I can probably count on one MAYBE two fingers how many times I’ve gotten a legitimate 18” limit by myself out there. One was spring time, the other “maybe” that comes to mind was a late spring/early summer outing. I don’t fish too many tournaments either after I graduated college, but the 15” limit has become the great equalizer amongst my buddies and I when counting numbers and weights. I just didn’t adjust to my audience here ?. 18” is a tough nut to crack on a lot of our lakes.
  9. I should edit this post! I guess I was meaning the 15" traditional keeper length as if I had a bass pass. The only one that went 18" was the 5 pounder. The others three "keepers" were at least 15". Boy, I only wish. That would have been a heck of a day. Being able to count "15 inchers always makes a guy feel better about his total weight that day ?‍♂️
  10. While just considering the activity of the fish, I can speak to the shadow rap and he shadow rap shad. The shadow rap is a slow sinker but almost neutrally buoyant. This is designed more for the cold water and less active fish. The shadow rap shad is a riser and will float to the top if allowed and is designed for fish that might be a little more active. SR Shad does not allow you to fish it quite as slow when the bass are wanting the cadence of a 10-15 second pause in the cold conditions (or longer but I wouldn't have the patience). I have never fished one, but buddy of mine absolutely crushed me on a rip stop one time. They are pretty erratic and will stop on a dime. I'd maybe throw this for more active fish? Just my .02.
  11. X2 on the zoom trick worm. I also like the zoom mag finesse worms when I want a bigger profile. Unsolicited opinion, but I prefer the screw lock design on the heads. Seems like the bait falls down the shank of the others if I don't glue it.
  12. Very unpopular opinion: I hate jigs. I catch many many more fish on a T-rigged beaver style or other type of creature bait. Jigs are not a confidence bait for me.
  13. Went out to La Cygne yesterday. Decent day on the water. I think I had about 13 lbs or so with my 4 best. Started out the day throwing a jerkbait. Missed a really nice one by the boat ramp on a pointer 100 first thing in the morning. Next, I went to a point by the hot water. Caught about 5 or 6 fish (two "keepers" of 15") on pointer 78, wobble head/trick worm, and a ned rig. As soon as picked up a ned rig, I caught two fish back to back. The first one was a 12 incher the next one was a 5 pounder. I ended up fishing a ned most of the day after that (not sure why I ever throw anything else). I did venture to the south side of the lake to get away from some of the traffic about mid day and to fish some less pressured water. I came away with two GIANT drum on a jerkbait and a ned rig. Water up there was about 44 degrees on that end. Finished the day on the bluff wall with about 15 more fish and 2 "keepers". Had to weed through a few dinks to get a decent bite. Caught a bunch of these: A few of these: And one of these:
  14. The bait monkey told me I needed to up my cold water arsenal with a couple things..... so of course I listened. The holiday sales at TW definitely made his point a little more valid. -LC Pointer 78: American Shad -LC Pointer 78: Aurora Pro Blue -LC Pointer 78: Crack -LC Pointer 100: American Shad -LC Pointer 100: Chartreuse Shad -LC Pointer 100: Ghost Minnow -Luck-E-Strike RC STX: Black Diamond -Luck-E-Strike RC STX: Clown -Luck-E-Strike RC STX: French Pearl -Luck-E-Strike RC STX: Purple Green Apple -6th Sense Crush Flat 75x: Chartreuse Pro Blue -6th Sense Crush Flat 75x: Bluegill Spawn -6th Sense Crush Flat 75x: Wild Lava Crawfish -Spro Little John 50: Cell Mate -Spro Little John 50: Nasty Shad -Gamakatsu Round Bend Treble #4 25pk -Gamakatsu Round Bend Treble #5 10pk -Gamakatsu Round Bend Treble #6 25pk -Owner Hyperwire Split rings #2 round, #3 round, #2 oval AND.... a free TW promo T-shirt for an order over $150 Excited to try these Luck-E-Strike RC STX. At that price point I would love to be able to stock a box full of them and not worry about losing them when at a lake with lots of cover. However, based on some you guys' reviews, I will be upgrading the hardware to Gammy round bend and hyperwire split rings.
  15. Thanks for the update. Sounds like a good couple days out there otherwise based on your reports. As long as it’s around 30 degrees or better, I’ll be out there. Kinda hope it stays nasty to avoid the bumper to bumper situation. Seems like the fishing is better on those days anyway in the winter.
