  1. That’s awesome Dad!!!! Happy Birthday young man?
  2. I have the tp1 7’-3” med heavy mod. fast and really enjoy it. Using mine for moving baits, cranks and larger spinnerbaits. Very light and comfortable really liking the Winn grips.
  3. I also thoroughly enjoyed the explanation. Thanks JJ??
  4. I have a ca80 and love it. Aluminum frame 6.8:1 gear ratio left hand retrieve. I’m using it on a 6’-6” med power fast action rod using it mainly with 3/8 oz spinner baits but have thrown some smaller square bill and minnow style crankbaits 3/16 oz range and it has been a great reel. Mine is spooled with 10 lb suffix advance mono and no issues since this spring.
  5. Thanks Str8braidPowa, I didn’t think to look at the bass x line but I will now.
  6. Thanks Bluebasser86 happy to hear from someone who owns the rod, I’m having a hard time finding any tcs or evx series rods in any of the shops by me as I would like to feel them in person.
  7. I believe the mat daddy is a 7’-11” flipping stick. Not looking to go over 7’-4””. Thanks for the options guys.
  8. First timer asking a question here, I’m looking at the Okuma TCS series rods to pair with a Shimano SLX to throw frogs and buzzbaits on but I’m not seeing anything anywhere on which rod would be best. I’m thinking the 7’-3” heavy to replace a lews carbon fire 7’-3” heavy as I’m finding the lews doesn’t have much tip action. Any suggestions? Looking to stay at or under $150.00. Also looking at Daiwa Tatula XT.
  9. If you can afford it I bought a bps pro panfish elite series rod in 6’-8” ultralight and plan on buying the 6’-2” light model. All of my fishing is currently on the bank at retention ponds. They are fantastic rods at $80.00 and they’re available in multiple lengths and either ultralight or light power. I find it easier to cast the lighter baits with a 6’-4” light powered rod but prefer the 6’-8” for bobber fishing.
  10. Made me smile. Thank you?
  11. Roland Martin seems to like them. If I’m not mistaken Phoenix rods has one that’s very similar with reviews on Tackle Tour. I’m digging the no wrap? finish on the butt end on the Phoenix. I believe it’s an M1 series. Sorry Phenix rods.
  12. If you can afford/ justify the reel I found it makes cranking more enjoyable. I have 5,6,7and 1reel in 8 speed ( not my cup of tea) and enjoy them all for different applications. Again for a lower price point try the Kastking or Piscifun lower end reels and see if it suits you. If nothing else if you have a Bass Pro nearby they do a trade-in every year,at least where I’m at.
  13. Although I cannot comment on the rods I use a ‘7-3” TP1 perfect crankback with a revo x in 5.4:1 gear ratio and a kastking royal legend 2 5.3:1? On a lews carbon fire ‘6-10” medium and have been happy with both. I’m planning on another revo x this year as the kastking is not built to last imo but hey at$30.00 on sale I’m not complaining.
  14. Like many others I have a mixed bag of each spinning and casting.13 fishing, abu, bps,Daiwa,kk,Piscifun ,Shimano and quantum but my two favorites (both spinning reels) are an old Daiwa and a old ryobi given to me by my older brother when he saw me getting back into fishing. Tragically he passed several years ago(construction accident) but those reels will stay in my rotation until I’m unable to fish any longer 51 yrs old now.
  15. I believe there is bps thread on hare referencing the bps patriot rod being made by tfo ,so maybe they make the carbonlite also?
  16. I have 2 lews carbon fire rods with the solid red Winn grips and I really like them but overall the carbonlite rod is much better quality in my opinion.
  17. Not sure on the rod but the components are of good quality, the guides are Fuji not sure about reel seat and I’m a big fan of Winn grips.
  18. Although I don’t own combo 1 I own a casting version of the carbonlite 2.0 Using it for 2 seasons and a 1500 size 2.0 spinning reel (new version) purchased this past spring classic. The rod in my opinion is really sensitive and very comfortable in the hand and when on sale a great option. The reel is made by Daiwa a white colored regal lt i believe and is smooth as butter. I have a st croix premiere ‘6-6” light about 15 years Already and it is still one of my favorite rods for bluegill to bass it casts jigs to cranks to a bobber set up no issues.
  19. I strongly suggest the guide gear Sherpa lined rod and reel carrying case available on Sportsman Warehouse website in both 3 & 5 rod/reel versions. I was gifted my 3 rod version at least 15 years ago from BPS and when I saw the 5 rod /reel version on Sportsman’s Warehouse I jumped on it immediately, best protection for the money in my opinion. Just make sure to remove or cover treble hooks before putting combos in bag.
  20. Hello all, really enjoy the conversations and advice here. With that said I purchased a Piscifun Saex Elite with a bfs spool during there thanksgiving sale for under $100.00 although weather has been too cold here in Illinois to use it I am impressed with the quality of the reel. I just started with baitcasters and used a bps carbonlite 2.0 and a cabelas arachnid last year and I feel the Piscifun is on par with the arachnid and only time will tell but better built than the carbonlite.
