  1. My vote would be to try a local mom and pop shop (preferred) but if none available try the box stores. You’ll get a better idea of what others are using and hopefully some good advice to boot.
  2. Just remembered Lews has the custom lite HM85 in a med hvy jig special which is a mod. fast action with what I believe is a better weight range for bladed jigs than my TP1 for $169.99. It is a 100% graphite rod if you’re not interested in glass/hybrid rods.
  3. Like A -Jay,I have both a Lews TP1 7’-3” med. hvy. Mod.& a 7’-3” hvy. fast bps cranking stick and have thrown chatterbaits on both. The Lews is straight graphite the bps is a composite both around $100.00 retail. I like the moderate action in both rods but prefer the bps due to the weight range. If I was going to upgrade now I would look for a composite rod myself (Lews has new KVD) although in all fairness I have not tried a pure glass rod. If your willing to wait bps usually puts their brands on sale especially in the spring and they have a good range of lengths and powers. Good luck and looking forward to hearing your opinion on what you ultimately end up buying.
  4. I know I’m in the minority here as I suggest looking into Piscifun or Kast King. Although I have no experience with KK spinning reels I have a Royal Legend 2 casting reel that I paid $35.00 for delivered to my door. It is not what I would consider a long term reel, I have Daiwa Tatulas for that reason but when I wanted to see if I enjoyed having a second lefty 5:1 crank reel it filled the bill. I would however suggest Piscifun Carbon X spinning reels, I have 2 and I’m very impressed with the quality. Plus if you sign up for the newsletter you get an additional 15% off.
  5. I received for Christmas a okuma evx b 7’-2” med. hvy which I’m planning on using for jigs myself. It’s a fast tipped rod that’s not too much money for the quality in my opinion.
  6. I’m a fan of bass pros carbonlite 2.0, mine is the 7’-0” med power fast action which I find versatile enough to use for light jigs/T-rigs,spinner baits even light cranks/lipless cranks. In other words a good all around rod. If they do a spring classic sale up by you they’re even a better deal on sale. They’re $120.00 reg price here in the states. I’m pretty sure they have a 6’-9” med heavy extra fast also.
  7. How do you guys think the EVX b would handle spinner baits? Just received a EVX 7’-2” mh for Christmas and really like the feel in hand. Also keeping my eyes open for a sale on kast king 6’-10” speed demon pro as I’m thinking the 2” might help a little with distance on cast.
  8. Contact site sponsor Delaware Valley Tackle.
  9. I own both the CA80 and Revo X, if you don’t like the way the Revo X feels you won’t be happy with the CA80 in my opinion. I purchased mine last year on sale for $65.00 .
  10. I own three different models a Saex elite no longer available on Piscifun site but available at Ali Express same reel different colors as Ardent elite with Piscifun having dual brakes. Been using it for 4 years and it has been a solid reel so far with no issues. Bought 2 carbon x spinning reels this year a 1000 & 2000 size and I find them slightly larger than comparable Daiwa reels more like a 1500 & 2500 which is not an issue as they are light weight, not enough time on them but pleased overall with my purchase. Lastly I purchased a Spark (standard) this year also and I personally am having a hard time finding a rod to use it with. Bought it to use with small crankbaits (rapala style stick baits maybe small square bills)but cannot seem to get a good pairing with it as of yet. I have and use Several other well known brands and would second what Bait Finesse said. Not horrible but you get what you’re paying for.
  11. Just pulled the trigger on a Okuma 7’-3” TCS looking at the 7’-2” med-hey EVX B... anybody using either of these two rods/series?
  12. I don’t remember the Super Lite models but I’m sure they were as nice if not nicer then the tour series??
  13. Stick with your purchase a great reel at a great price. You can feed the bait monkey as you get more involved ?
  14. Wish I had the money back then for those Quantum Tours, they were/are really nice feeling in my opinion.
  15. First off congrats on your purchases, although I have not used either rod handling both side by side I would say the Dobyns is a better feeling rod imho. I do not have a Fuego CT but I have a Tatula CT with plans to get the new version next spring and a SLX and I don’t think you can go wrong with either. I personally like the Daiwa brakes for ease of adjustment but with the beetle wing side plate on the SLX I’m not bothered by having to make on the water adjustments.
  16. Check out tackle junky 81 on you tube and on here Glen’s review of Okuma tcs a casting rod. Supposed to be soft tip with plenty of backbone. Looking at 7’-3” heavy myself from TW Black Friday sale.
  17. Is this a Cadence?
  18. Bass pro shop/Cabelas panfish pro series rods, light sensitive and Fuji guides and reel seats. If neither near you they do a fantastic job of packaging/shipping.
  19. Jimmy Joe you can try the bass pro shop crankin stick. I have a 7’-3” heavy I’m using for chatterbaits. They’re relatively cheap (on sale quite frequently) and come in a good selection of lengths and powers. The bonus is bps is good with their warranty and return policy so if you break it or just don’t like it you can exchange/return it for something else.
  20. Looking at 2 Okuma rods, one bps rod,a Piscifun spinning reel and finally a new Tatula CT to round out and hopefully finish rods and reels so I can start saving and research a kayak purchase ?
  21. Not the most popular but I’m happy with suffix performance braid.
  22. I’m enjoying my bps cranking stick 7’-3” heavy power fast action rod. Bonus when you catch them on sale.
  23. I know it’s not what you’re asking about but I’m using a bps cranking stick 7’-3” heavy and it rips chatterbaits through grass no problems at all.
  24. That pike picture brings back cherished memories of summer vacations spent in Minnesota with family and friends. Thanks for the reminder of why I fish ?
