  1. Even if it’s not in stock if they’re offering a sale price it’s worth ordering in my opinion. At least here in Illinois I will have to wait a couple months after the sale to use it anyway.
  2. If you can check out BPS panfish elite series, they have ultralight & light powered rods. I have the 6’-8” ultralight and it’s very sensitive. Also BPS should be having there annual spring sale soon and you might save a few bucks as well. Let us know what you ultimately wind up buying.
  3. Thank you for your years of service.
  4. I bought a Daiwa Tatula ct for $105.00 two years ago and a SLX last year for $85.00. I try to wait for bps spring sale or Tackle Warehouse Black Friday sale for rod and reel purchases.
  5. I’m hoping they continue the tradition of trading in old gear.
  6. Thank you for your service. And to all current and former service men and women on this site.
  7. Congratulations and best of luck moving forward .??
  8. Enjoyed the video, thank you sir. What about hair jigs? Maribou and the like I’m thinking 6’-6” med power spinning rod,1500 size reel spooled with some mono backing to 8lb j-braid or straight up 6lb mono. I know this has been discussed before but I enjoy seeing everyone else’s responses anyway.
  9. I’ll second this... have bought rods from Amazon (independent tackle shops) shipped to me and Dicks sporting goods shipped to the house. It depends on how it’s handled in between that makes a difference. As long as it’s packaged well from the beginning which most reputable businesses/companies who know how delicate fishing gear can be will take care of from the get go.
  10. I used 14 lb low stretch monofilament on my 7’-0” med/fast carbonlite 2.0 for last 2 years with no issues. I would pay more attention to your lure weights.
  11. Will definitely agree. Once you try you’ll definitely be back for advice on what your next upgrade purchase should be. Good luck and looking forward to hearing your update on how it worked out.
  12. Not sure what your budget is, but I received a Abu Garcia Revo X in 5.4:1 left hand for Christmas 2 years ago and was overall pleased with it last year.
  13. Check inside the box to see if they sent shims. I bought a 13 fishing spinning reel I couldn’t spool properly to save my behind. I wound up taking the reel to my local tackle shop and had them spool it,he informed me the reel needed shims which were not supplied with my reel. I’m certainly no expert but looking at the photo it seems to have line lay issues like my 13 fishing reel had. It appears at least from the photo angle to be spooling unevenly top to bottom. Perhaps someone with a better eye such as J Francho might chime in.
  14. Not saying you’re wrong just saying the one review was favorable. I enjoy, respect and personally find his reviews to be fair and the most accurate. And as you’re saying I agree most of the “Chinesium” reels do not seem to be very well made at least not for long term use when reviewed. As the old saying goes you get what you pay for.
  15. I own 4 Piscifun reels 2 bait casters and 2 spinning reels. The spinning reels are their top of the line carbon x reels in sizes 1000 & 2000 I will say they’re sized around a 1500 & 2500 and only buying them last summer I can not speak for their long term capability but I’m very impressed with their performance so far on par with my carbonlite 2.0 1500 which saw quite a bit of use last year and is made by Daiwa. As far as the baitcasters I bought a Spark (reg.) last spring $40.00 reel and it performs as one would expect for the price. It is not going to hold up to 5-10 lb bass being pulled from the Everglades but for fishing ponds it is very enjoyable and more than capable. My 4th reel is a Piscifun Saex Elite bought about 4 years ago and only available through Ali Express as of now as far as I can tell. The reel is the same as the Ardent Apex Elite with centrifugal brakes and magnetic brakes with red instead of blue trim. I purchased it on sale with a bfs spool for around $110.00 and have been using it with no issues since then, I own Abu,bps,Daiwa Tatulas ct & type r’s and find my Piscifun every bit as capable as the rest of my reels and with proper maintenance being that way for years to come. P.S Tackle Advisors reviewed the Spark Pro and gave it a pretty favorable review which was why I purchased the reg.Spark in the first place.
  16. I’m looking forward to hearing some opinions on these rods as I’m hoping to save up and find a spring sale on the 6’-10” myself. Just my opinion but it seems Daiwa isn’t advertising/promoting these rods the way they do/have others. For example as the thread on here about pros and their gear, although I don’t necessarily follow a lot of tournament fishing I watch enough to know most of the names and see their jerseys and know some of the rods they endorse/use. I do however enjoy fishing shows this time of season and haven’t noticed anybody using these rods this year or on last year’s shows, most notably Mark Zona who seemed to switch to Lews from Daiwa without really talking about the products as he did last year,at least in the first 4 episodes I’ve watched.
  17. I agree with everything said. I own both a Tatula CT & a SLX and find both extremely capable. If you’re someone who adjusts your brakes often or likes precision braking you will probably like the Fuego better. On the other hand the SLX is very comfortable and with the beetle wing side plate the SLX is easy enough to adjust.
  18. If you can’t find big game mono I’ve used Zebco omniflex monofilament line as backer. Cheap and readily available in 20# test size at your local Wal Mart.
  19. Not sure but that description sounds a lot like the Lews TP1 7’3” rod that I also have. I bought mine for “treble baits” mostly crank baits as MN Fisher points out. When I first researched my particular rod I read a review where someone brought up its merits as a “chatterbait” rod. If you find a recent post about “chatterbait” rods here you will see the varying opinions on power and actions not to mention materials used and a number of different opinions. I agree with all the responses given so far and hopefully I didn’t muddy the waters to badly with my 2 cents.
  20. I have a Piscifun Saex Elite same reel different color scheme as the Ardent. Would love to hear an update as to your likes/dislikes vs the Okuma TCS not that I need it but just bought a TCS rod on Black Friday sale and I’m a sucker for color/brand matching.
  21. I have 2 Piscifun carbon x reels, both a 1000 & 2000 size. They are very well built and I’m sure they will last quite a long time. I have a Piscifun Saex Elite casting reel been using that for the last 5 years with no problems. The one thing I will say is the 1000 size is more like my 1500 size carbonlite 2.0 and my 2000 is closer to a 2500 size. Very pleased with both. You can purchase them online directly through Piscifun and get an additional 15% off when you sign up for their newsletter.
  22. This thread has reminded me that I’ve had/have some fishing gear in the garage for the last 14 plus years. Just put in in my climate controlled basement about 2 hours ago and realized how cool some of it is. I was told it is not worth anything but sentimental value but that was probably 20 years ago when I first received it. If anyone could point me in the right direction for restoring/ learning more in the southwest suburbs of Chicago Illinois I would love to hear about them. Meanwhile I will look into ORCA. Sorry didn’t mean to double up on comments. I don’t plan on fishing the reels but would like them cleaned up so I can display them for myself and get some history on them. Again cannot say enough I’m truly enjoying this particular thread and this site?
