  1. Chicago was safer when either one of the Daley’s ran it. Hell it was safer when Rahm Emmanuel ran it. Mayor Lightfoot is quickly proving herself to be in over her head in my opinion. I’m from the south west suburbs born and raised in Tinley Park so I’m nowhere near as educated on the city as most of you guys on this post, but I worked down town for a couple years walking from the Lasalle street metra station to the blue cross blue shield building with quite a bit of my travel underground and I always felt “safe”, nowadays you couldn’t pay me enough to walk that route.
  2. What he said ?
  3. I’ll second this. I have the 6’-8” ultralight and it’s definitely built well above its price IMO.
  4. ?Do you think Bass Pro Shop will honor the price ??
  5. You were definitely fishing it hard in that video. I’ll be sure to keep an eye out for the next video you’re using it in.
  6. Not being a wise guy. Are you planning on displaying it or fishing with it? Either way that’s a good looking lure?
  7. I’m going with my Lews TP1 now TP1X 7’-3” med hvy moderate $99.00 all day long. Or you could try A-Jay’s recommendation from Lews. If you like something on the faster side look into bps crankin sticks.
  8. “Ding Ding” in best carnival voice “give that man a prize” ??
  9. So this popped up on Instagram, seeing as I would love a kayak I clicked on shop now and wow they are blowing out a ton of different yaks at unbelievable prices including a 12’ pdl version for $99.00. The only problem is when you hit shop now it directs you to cabelas closing out all these kayaks that you can only purchase with a pay pal account ?. Oh and see if anyone notices the first problem (see attached photo). ?
  10. I’m going to say a Daiwa Tatula CT or Tatula 150. I use a few different brands of reels but feel the Tatulas will hold up well to the nature of frog fishing, (heavy braid locked down drags) in general.
  11. I have no input on the model in question but I will say I purchased a bps carbonlite 2.0 1500 size spinning reel a few years back and I’m very happy I did. I believe it to be a Daiwa Exceler LT a $79.99 reel painted in a white finish with silver trim which I like better than the Daiwa colors. The one bonus is I paid $49.99 with trade in reel. I believe the reel in question is also a rebadged/repainted Daiwa although judging by the pictures I’d say it’s a rebadged Legalis LT which is a reel I’m trying to talk myself out of buying. If you’re going to buy from Cabelas/BPS I’m sure it’s going to be on sale soon (Spring Classic) and as @Fishingmickey said they seem to be out of inventory on all other brands. Me personally I like the the colors on the Daiwa better but as I stated on another post I’m a sucker for color matching? Lastly I will add bps has a generous return policy and I’m assuming you’re shopping the Gurnee or Bolingbrook stores which would be easier than shipping back to Daiwa should the need arise which I highly doubt will.
  12. I will freely admit aesthetics are very important to me. Case in point I had a Daiwa CA80 on a Lews Carbon Fire rod and couldn’t take it, so I bought the identical rod a Lews Hank Parker rod and now all is right in my world?
  13. Although I prefer to feel/see the rod in person I purchased 2 Okuma rods during the Tackle Warehouse Black Friday sale based solely on the recommendations/reviews written on here as no one near me carried the rod lines I was interested in. I’m glad I did.
  14. If you don’t mind my asking what don’t you like? I bought the 7’-3” hvy and I’m pretty pleased with mine. But as they say different strokes for different folks. I feel the build quality is pretty good overall and I’m pretty sure that’s about what I paid for my gray version.
  15. Curious as to which rods you have (length) I agree with you on the sales side and if it wasn’t for the reel trade in I wouldn’t purchase either.
  16. That’s awesome he was able to get everything needed for the record and his replica mount in around 2 hours safely returned where she was caught.
  17. For what it’s worth I had my bps order an out of stock item (a panfish elite rod) that was in the sale flyer but not available in store during the “spring sale” and they honored the price without me having to pre pay if that makes sense.
  18. I have the last version (grey split grip) in hvy power. As far as I know it’s the same blank as the new version and for $49 I think it’s well worth the purchase.
  19. Anything Daiwa Magforce Z braking system.
  20. I’m definitely not able to pick just 5 as there is so much knowledge and therefore so much that can be learned from every member on here but in the spirit of the post here goes…Bulldog1935, A-Jay, Fish Tank, slonezp and Jig Rookie. As for pros Mark Zona, Al Lindner (or anyone associated with his shows), Hank Parker,Brent Chapman and although she’s probably not a pro Sarah Parvin who posts some of the biggest bluegill I’ve ever seen and are one my favorite fish to target.
  21. I have this reel in 6 speed and love it. I also have a few different Tatula varieties and I feel if your good bumping up to a Fuego your father in law will be very pleased and probably never wear it out. Either or will be a good fit but I’m a big fan of the fuego mag force Z braking system.
  22. I will start by saying the Bass Pro in Bolingbrook Illinois is on my “spring classic” sale radar for the trade in’s plus I like and plan on purchasing another “panfish elite” rod this year. The BPS in Gurnee Illinois has a special place in my heart as I had a hand “building” it as a carpenter in my youth. Used to love the Cabelas in Hammond Indiana but that was more for the footwear/boots but still love my Cabelas “Arachnid” reel. The “Dicks” sporting goods in Tinley Park Illinois carries a small but decent selection as does the Wal-Mart in my hometown of New Lenox Illinois. The Wal-Mart’s in Morris as well as Decatur Illinois are even better. There are 2 shops that stand out in my immediate area, the first being “Fishing Connection” in Orland Park Illinois, Greg the owner was as of last year still running the store that I first stepped into 25 plus years ago. And my favorite for the last 8 plus years is “Anglers Outlet” currently in Tinley Park Illinois. The store is completely awesome as it’s wall to wall and floor to ceiling fishing gear with the most “INCREDIBLE” staff from owner to sales people that are friendly and as well hard core knowledgeable. I’ve frequented the establishment as a youth when they were known as “Ed Shirley & Sons” in Markham Illinois for anyone old enough to remember them then. You’re greeted at the entrance with a sandwich board with the latest fishing reports from Lake Michigan to the county forest preserves and feel free to ask the staff about anywhere in between. The owner will buy/trade in your older/used fishing gear that he then resells for a fair price as well as offers gear from budget friendly to enthusiast level at the same or better prices you will find anywhere else. I’ve asked about ordering certain gear that I’ve not seen in store and have always been quoted a fair price also. They are/were a well known fixture at what was my favorite fishing show the “Tinley Park High School” fishing show held for many years in February where many fond memories of being with my brother were formed. One of my favorite things are the bargain/$1.00 bins where you never know what you will find from bobber packs to lead weights to open/old stock worms and lures that were probably purchased from a garage sale and long forgotten about but still work given a chance? Not sure if you’re referring to the Rosemont convention center show in Rosemont Illinois, but if you are wow it’s been a long time since I’ve been to that one?. Ed Shirley & Sons booth was where I bought my first bass fishing combo after getting back into fishing in ?1993-1994
  23. Just wanted to give a follow up. I received my replacement (med.light) rod this week, it was a nice surprise as it wasn’t supposed to come until 2nd week of March. I’m kind of shocked as I think I remember the med. powered rod being a little more moderate in action where as the med light feels faster? I’m not complaining and testing it next to my current rod of choice for Ned rigs, a 6’-3” x-fast light powered rod it seems the action is comparable, especially when compared to my 6’-6” med powered fast action rod (mod. fast) which was my 2nd choice for Ned rigs. Can’t wait to get this rod on the water this upcoming season. Once again thank you to those who responded to my original post.
  24. Still one of the greatest super bowl advertising runs? Although I was happy with the pre game commercial from Lays featuring Marshawn Lynch, Peyton, Eli Manning and their father Archie and the other NFL/Super Bowl greats?
  25. As I said to my brother with the face grab/tackle I’m getting tired of cameras catching the infractions but the referees miss them. I get the fact the referees are human and can’t see everything but stop showing the stuff after the fact.? I for one am tired of seeing these kind of infractions making the difference either way and costing one of the teams the game. I realize in the end it didn’t matter but at the time and as others have pointed out their are quite a few missed calls on the field but not missed by the cameras. ?Thinking maybe it’s time for some evaluation in the officiating of the game. I would love to hear everyone’s thoughts.
