  1. Although I’m not in the market for a new rod the Daiwas are pretty dang nice for the money IMO. Also how do you like the tac 40 ? I’m intrigued by the handle design but no Academy near me to look them over.
  2. I for one wouldn’t mind seeing them?
  3. I was literally listening to a radio segment just now on WLS AM 890 and Illinois is now changing the name from Asian carp to Copie or Kopie?. The biologist talking about this said they are a firm white fillet.
  4. I purchased the 10lb line. I’ve only used it a handful of hours with nothing caught but I will say it’s very manageable and my preferred knot (trilene) cinched down tight with 3 different lures. For what it’s worth I would purchase more as needed.
  5. Im laughing right now but I’m in total agreement.
  6. Because the average homeowner makes mistakes. And yes I can honestly say that as I was a carpenter for 20 plus years.
  7. I’ll agree with @FishinBuck07 Kastking reels and pretty much any of the lower priced point reels can be difficult to dial in. Stay around the $100.00-$125.00 range and you will be much happier and better off in the end. I’ll add the Daiwa CA80 reel is awesome for the price as is the Shimano SLX and yes I use both along with a couple lower end Kastking and Piscifun reels. If you can afford it the Daiwa Fuego CT has the friendliest braking system on the market in my opinion and gets killer reviews from most everyone who owns one. As far as rods, go to Wal Mart and get your hands on a Lews Hank Parker speed stick in either med or med hvy power, or go to Dicks sporting goods and look for the Lews Carbon Fire rods. Both are priced around $70.00 last I checked. One of my favorite rods is a $50.00 Wright & McGill 7’-0” medium powered rod still available at Wal Mart as far as I know.
  8. I currently have a Daiwa Tatula CT on my Lews 7’-3” Carbon Fire as a frog combo with 50 lb braid. The tip isn’t the softest tip out there but it launches a couple different frogs I bought off a co-worker a friggin ways?. My point is I’m not sure if it’s the rod, reel or combination but if you can swing it buy whichever Lews rod strikes your fancy and a used Tatula CT and I think you will be happy. PS I have the 6’-10” Lews Hank Parker rod and it’s identical other than color to the Carbon Fire. As for a killer color match mine is enjoying a Daiwa CA80 aluminum framed reel and it’s awesome. Forgot to add this photo ? it’s not much but it’s my start to a frog/slop only box?
  9. ?I’m going to need someone to translate WTH was just written ?
  10. I have 2 of the original (solid red Wynn grips) Carbon Fire rods and I love them both. Mine are a 7’-3” hvy and a 6’-10” med.
  11. I’ve not personally used the Omen Black, but I was going to purchase the 7’-0” after handling it at a local tackle shop. Felt really nice in hand but I wound up with a couple of bps crankin sticks instead.
  12. I have zero experience with the KVD lineup but I have and thoroughly enjoy my TP1 med hvy moderate. Fair price and well made rods imho.
  13. I believe these are 3 years old? This was the model prior to the newest version.
  14. So I know I’ve posted pics of both the rod and reel which I have officially fished both but not together. I just finally put it together on Memorial Day. Can’t wait to try this Sonny & Cher combo out? #love a color match? I cannot thank @FrnkNsteenenough for making me “an offer I couldn’t refuse” on the rods. This pic is 1 of the 2 combos for the upcoming season ?
  15. Be Truthful now, we’re you happier about the “greenback” or the “green bass” ?
  16. Finally got to use mine this morning. Although I didn’t catch anything I will say it is super comfortable and easy to dial in. Also used my new to me Revo ALF which is by far the smallest/lightest reel I own, again didn’t catch anything but happy to have them both and looking forward to using them.
  17. Went out for 3-1/2 hours this morning, tried 4 different retention ponds and numerous lures. Wind was definitely no help but the biggest problem is the weeds on my favorite pond grew with a vengeance this year, at least 15-20 yards from shore and super thick. Finally got bit at the last pond I tried, at least I didn’t get skunked ?
  18. I have (2) 1000 & (1) 2000 size Carbon X which is why I want the zephyr sfs even though I don’t need it? Going to take a look at Cadence again and I agree about Daiwa, as far as I’m concerned no other well known name brand comes close to Daiwas lower end reels. Also took out my Kastking Royal Legend 2 today and although I upgraded a couple of reels this year I’m definitely keeping this reel, as I said for me it’s much better than the comparably priced Piscifun spark.
  19. Wanted to point out one thing here about the Piscifun Carbon X, I’m interested in getting a Kastking zephyr spinning reel in the black & orange color. But if anyone is like me and enjoys color coordinated combos the Piscifun has an available shallow spool for an additional $13.99 and being all black it makes it easier to pair with any colored rod if that’s important. Also it appears to be the same reel as the Kastking just no colors.
  20. I have a few moderately priced Lews rods myself, if and when you can find them on sale I feel like they’re worth every penny. I have not handled the TP1 black series but I have the TP1 mod.fast and I’ve been very happy with it.
  21. In my opinion for the $58.00 it’s worth a try. The shorter length means you will not get as much distance as a 7’ rod. It will be easier to work top water lures with that length which is a benefit for when you add another combo or rod so you can dedicate this rod to top water only. Being a moderate fast/fast rod is similar to a rod I recently broke that I spoke about. IMHO without handling this particular rod, if it were me I would pair the rod with a quality monofilament for some stretch when using treble hooks and use braid if you’re planning on using single hooks such as Texas rigged plastics. I hope this helped and I’m sure you will get someone with more experience than me to answer.
  22. I have the casting version of this rod based on the recommendations and reviews from several members on here and I love it.
  23. Sounds like a kickass combo in my humble opinion. Can’t wait to see some photos in the latest catch pics thread??Also post in show off your stuff when you get it.
