  1. I believe you’re referring to the Carbonlite 2.0 I bought the 1500 size at last year’s spring sale and I love the reel.
  2. @galyonj I’m glad I wasn’t drinking anything when I read your post and got to him biting you otherwise I’d be soaked. Thanks for the laugh ?
  3. As per my prior post I got out yesterday for around a 1/2 hour, posted the fish pic in the appropriate post. I’m not going to try sell anyone on the Kastking reel but I will say for what I’m using it for it sure does a nice job. I traded in a Piscifun Spark reel at the BPS spring sale due to the fact I couldn’t keep the tension set to save my life and wound up backlashing that reel every couple dozen casts but my Kastking Royal Legend 2 has found it’s purpose in my collection of combos.
  4. I stopped off at my favorite retention pond on the way home from work yesterday, winds were pretty stiff out of the south leaving me fishing the northeast corner where this guy finally committed after feeling him bump it on 3 prior casts.
  5. @ol'crickety Katie I don’t go much to either but when I do I can honestly say I understand your feelings in that statement ☹️
  6. @throttleplate I just finished putting together a combination I tried a little bit at the end of last season in the hopes of taking advantage of a 2 day warming trend tomorrow after work. The rod is good lord I have no idea how old and I know I paid too much for it at K-Mart when I did buy it but Roland Martin endorsed it which made it worth it ?. The reel is a $40.00 Kast King that I really like, the line is Trilene Big Game and the spinnerbait I will be throwing is a Wal Mart $1.00 special. I do not have Muskie in the pond I’ll be hitting after work but I’m hoping I can borrow some of your mojo for the bass and crappie that reside in this particular pond?
  7. Not sure who has the capability of shopping at Blaine’s Fleet Farm but just got the flyer in the mail today.
  8. ? This is right up @bulldog1935 ‘s alley along with so many others on here.
  9. Although I’m not familiar with the reel you’re referring to if it’s the clone of the Daiwa CA80 I for one respectfully disagree with this comment. I would like to believe but have no idea that like PhishLi said Daiwa at least specified the design of the CA80 or picked the design based on their previous knowledge. Another brand that probably never had a engineering department but is in my experience a good reel is Piscifun, I know many on here will scoff but the 3 Carbon X spinning reels I have are fantastic for the price. I’m in no way implying they’re as nice as the Shimano Stradic I recently purchased but are in my opinion not far behind the Miravel I handled at BPS and are every bit as well built as my BPS Carbonlite 2.0 spinning reel which I believe is made by Daiwa.
  10. Hello and welcome from New Lenox Illinois
  11. Bucket Boss brand available at most home improvement stores or online had/has quite a few clip on options made for tradesmen/home improvement types. I’ve used some of their products in the past and they’re well made at a fair price as a bonus.
  12. Although I don’t know for sure my local Walmart isn’t offering that deal ☹️. I’m going to have to stop in tomorrow to be sure ?
  13. I’m pretty sure the reel at least is made by the same company making Lews reels (Doyo)? I know @volzfan59 has mentioned working at BPS in some other posts and maybe can shed some light. On a side note I’m a fan of my BPS branded gear regardless of who makes it?
  14. What he said ?
  15. I can’t remember which fishing show I was watching but the cameraman caught a small mouth bass eat a bat that was swimming on top of the water.
  16. First off I’d avoid buying a rod off of Amazon as their packaging on rods is hit or miss. Secondly picking from that list I’d choose the Black Max and totally avoid the Tailored and Shakesphere reels. If you have a Walmart near you they usually have the Blackmax combo in store or Academy sports if you have one in your area.
  17. I was probably 12 years old in Minnesota on our annual fishing trip, I was playing around watching my Aborgast “mud bug” fishing lure just over the side of the boat when the biggest yap with teeth I’ve ever seen came charging at it. I couldn’t rip my favorite lure away from that pike while my 5 year older brother is telling me to figure eight it. I don’t think my K-Mart rod and plastic bodied Zebco reel could have handled that fish. Not sure this is the rod but if not a close interpretation of it?
  18. It’s the folks who are moving out of Chicago and more importantly Cook County Illinois ?
  19. ⬆️THIS nails it⬆️
  20. I’m taking my Okuma TCS A 7’-0” medium plus paired with my Tatula 100 7 speed spooled with 10 pound suffix advance monofilament. On the cheap end my favorite rod so far a Wright & McGill 7’-0” med with 7 speed Favorite Soleus reel spooled with 10 pound big game monofilament.
  21. @Koz I know this isn’t the vehicle you want but my coworker bought a “Smart” car and put a factory accessory hitch bar on the dang thing. He uses it not only for work but hauls a pop up camper with it. I’m not sure how much they cost used but I do know it’s cheaper than a “utility vehicle” as my neighbor told me what he paid for his and heck it’s actually around the same size and can accommodate hauling your kayak. Just food for thought ?
  22. Although all of the reels being mentioned are great options I’m going to suggest if you have a local tackle shop with a good reputation stop in and work with them. They can guide you on the various reels and various speeds for what you’re looking to use the combo for and an appropriate rod to match. It will allow you to handle multiple brands as they all feel slightly different in hand and what I may find comfortable in hand you may hate. Lastly I couldn’t agree more with @BrianMDTX good luck stopping at one?
