  1. This right here along with the knowledge I’ve gained on this subject from everyone on here using “imported” braids about the listed diameters and breaking strengths is why I’m excited to try this line as it’s supposedly switched to a true “Japanese” braid that has much stricter standards as has been pointed out. Also although I can purchase Japanese braids from Tackle Warehouse or even ask my local tackle shop if they can get it the Suffix will be readily available and at least around here I can’t find braid lower than 8lb. Also I’m interested in spooling my shallow spooled Miravel with 4lb braid as it’s paired with an ultralight rod.
  2. Not necessarily true as far as I know. This braid as @bulldog1935 pointed out is made from Japanese materials (Izanas) which if you may have noticed a lot of guys on here especially the bfs crowd are using braids imported from Japan for a reason.
  3. I don’t want to put words in his mouth but I believe he meant as far as purchasing them from Japan.
  4. So Suffix is releasing a new finesse braid and I’m personally excited to try it out on both a bfs spool and a shallow spool Shimano Miravel. Anybody else interested?
  5. I’m not trying to sound like a jerk but your link shows a casting rod and your post title says spinning rod. Considering you’re pairing it with a Stradic I’m assuming spinning. Also how old is the rod? The reason I ask is St Croix has great customer service and may surprise you with a few options you didn’t know about. The premiere has a 5 year warranty but I believe the older models the warranty was quite a bit longer than that.
  6. Praying it goes well A-Jay.
  7. @FishTank Although I’ve never had the opportunity to personally speak to you I can guarantee that statement above applies to you and quite a few others on here at least when it comes to my local BPS, not that they’re completely clueless. @bulldog1935 armed me with enough knowledge on the Stradic FL that when I purchased mine at my local BPS the sales associate made a few comments that had me thankful I have a friend in Ron and also the knowledge that many of you on here have and are willing to share.
  8. @MediumMouthBass I was definitely referring to the 4th generation Revo X and to be perfectly honest I didn’t even realize the 5th or newer 🤔 generation was made from carbon throughout. With that said I do realize the Seven branded reel is made from carbon/plastic even though I will admit I would rather have an aluminum frame. At very least Seven doesn’t seem to be trying to hide that fact under a really nice paint job. I will add that lot of my personal preference for Daiwa comes from both their braking systems and what I perceive as a better built product vs what the materials used are and as I’ve already stated elsewhere I don’t really care where it’s being manufactured as long as it doesn’t have a ton of notable problems. But with that said I’d definitely take an SLX over the new Revo X and or the Seven at the current prices. With that said I can see all sides of this debate and I’m enjoying reading all of the different responses.
  9. I know you said you’re a Daiwa fan as I also am but Abu Garcia offers a few different options in 5 speed reels and ironically enough there is currently an Abu discussion taking place. The Revo X is right around $120.00 and offered in 5.4:1 in both left and right hand retrieves.
  10. I’m going to add on to my original answer. Again at the time of receiving my Revo X I held quite a few different reels and felt then as I do now the Abu offered quite a bit of reel for the price, with that said I preferred and still do the Daiwa braking system to that of the Abu and or the Lews LFS that as I’ve said before just doesn’t fit right in my hands and if they offered a 5 speed Fuego or Tatula CT I would have probably ended up with one of them instead. As far as being a plastic framed reel I can assure you it’s not and is an aluminum frame with carbon/plastic side plates which is quite normal even in the Daiwa/Shimano lines and fits really nicely in my hands to boot. Also as was shared with me by ironically @bulldog1935 the Revo X platform was used by the aftermarket company ZPI to produce the “Alcance” a reel that bulldog owns and hey if it’s good enough for them it’s definitely more than good enough for me. As far as my saying I wouldn’t purchase the Abu currently it’s because of this site that I’ve discovered purchasing from Japan and I really do prefer Daiwa although I’m using casting reels from 6 different companies currently. I will say the new Abu Revo’s do feel good in hand but I’m also just as inclined to want to try a Sevin branded reel as they also fit in my hand. Oh how I need to win the lottery 😜
  11. @J._Bricker This is one of the only commercials that doesn’t get old for me😉
  12. I’ve had the pleasure of talking about this exact subject with @volzfan59 and if my current job offered me the opportunity I’d work there in a heartbeat for the discount.
  13. I’m going to throw in my .02 in. So I’ve purchased an Abu Garcia and was gifted one. The gifted reel was/is a Revo X in a 5.4:1 gear ratio and at the time I knew nothing about the JDM market, the second is a Revo ALF in a 6.4:1 gear ratio I purchased on a close out deal from Tackle Warehouse. I will also add I’m a bit of a budget buyer and given the chance to do it again I would probably not buy/ask for the Revo X but it has and continues to serve it’s intended use. I will add both of my reels are left handed retrieve and when I received the Revo there weren’t a whole lot of options for a 5 speed left handed retrieve at least in the domestic market. As for the Revo ALF in my opinion it’s every bit as nice as my Tatulas and being a more compact frame it was and continues to be one of my favorite purchases.
  14. Great googley moogley😆🤣
  15. To @12poundbass and all the Bills fans on here Congratulations, to @BrianMDTX and all the other Ravens fans it was definitely one hell of a game and definitely the best game of the weekend.
  16. Ok is it just me who’s concerned that Jalen Hurts isn’t going to hold up to beat the Chiefs if that’s what it boils down to? I realize he has to get through Washington first and my concern is he just may, but it seems every week Hurts gets a knee or something else banged up and wrapped 🤔 Sorry to all you Kansas City Chiefs fans but I want to see an actual game when it comes to the Super Bowl. With that said go Bills!!!! Also I will add I personally feel Lamar Jackson has a curse when it comes to Kansas City.
  17. @T2DM I’m glad you took my comment the way I intended which was tongue planted firmly in cheek😉 This is without a doubt one of my favorite pages on here.
  18. @MiceNReets What kind of panfish are you after🤔 I mean hey to each his own but I’m thinking I’m overkill with a light powered rod and a 1000 sized reel with 6lb monofilament 😆
  19. I’ve never held the Victory model you’re talking about but if it helps I’ve fished both treble and single hooks on my bps crankin sticks with suffix advance monofilament and had zero issues setting the hook ever. Let us know what you think of the rod.
  20. Rule #1 it’s acceptable at work only, Rule #2 Always follow rule #1! 😆😜
  21. Am I the only one who noticed the pairing of a Shimano reel on a Daiwa rod 🤔 You may as well bring a bunch of bananas when you use that combo 🤣😆
  22. For $80.00 I’d buy it and find out. If it’s truly in like new condition you will have zero issues reselling it.
  23. @gim I will agree with you on that assessment and also a crappy way to end the season.
  24. I’ve purchased lower end reels Piscifun and Kast King along with my Dream Tackle reel through Amazon and the process was straight forward and very quick. I did order a 13 fishing rod to exchange for a rod my son bought me for Christmas through Amazon and although not pleased with the packaging both rods were delivered without a problem.
