@detroit1 Although I’m a Bears fan through and through I can and do appreciate the way the Lions have turned things around. It’s my belief and I could be wrong but watching them on 🤔I’m having a senior moment here 😆the show “hard knocks” I feel Dan Campbell has a lot to do with it and my wife and I became huge fans of his. I’m rooting for them to make the NFC North proud going forward.

I was at the show on Sunday last year and I can honestly say underwhelming is an understatement. If there were more than a half dozen booths selling new fishing gear(lures) I’d be hard pressed to remember them. The only big name and most well rounded booth selling a good selection of everything was Anglers Outlet which is where I got this years information from.

@MN Fisher I sure hope you treat us all to your impressions/review when you do use that reel.😬

Me I’m personally happy as I have a strong dislike for Mike McCarthy and Jerry Jones alike. I also find it a bit disappointing to keep hearing at least on my sports shows that Dak Prescott is going to be the highest paid quarterback/player next season as I just don’t think he has “it”. Also although I’m a Bears fan I’m really impressed with Jordan Love and Matt LaFleur and feel they truly earned the opportunity to be in the position they are in.

I will add that @MN Fisher hit this on the head. I purchased mine for around $65.00 shipped a few seasons ago and it’s one of my absolute favorite reels I own. If you’re patient and have the time to search you can find some great deals.

@krshome I’ll throw my .02 in the ring. For $40-$60 dollars you’ll be hard pressed to find something you will like imho, I purchased a Kast King Royal Legend 2 and although I’m comfortable yet by no means an expert with baitcasters I found the reel wouldn’t hold the appropriate settings which makes it a pain in the butt and no fun to use it n the long run. Although I have zero experience with the Abu Max series they are highly recommended here and elsewhere so I would personally go that route. With that said the Piscifun Alloy M offers an aluminum frame for a little over your price point around $70.00 but you can generally find some deals on Amazon and even the official Piscifun site. Although I have zero experience with the Alloy M I have 3 of their spinning reels and really find they’re built above their price point. Also I’m drawing a blank on which member here it is but there is a good review of both the Piscifun Carbon XCS and Alloy M on this site. Best of luck and keep us posted.

@detroit1 That’s awesome you kept the monkey at bay. My favorite local shop “Anglers Outlet” out of Tinley Park Illinois was up there this year and was how I heard about the Tinley Park show.

@LCG I’m in the same situation and just took the advice of @TLHSS and wow there are some cool and creative ways to display them on the site. This is my favorite so far.

@Jmurphy87 & @Derek1 don’t let the fear of ordering from Japan hold you back, other than some minor differences between the usdm and JDM models such as smaller/shorter handles and aluminum vs brass gears the frames are the same and the cost savings are too good to miss out on. I’ve ordered 2 times from Japan Lure Shop and couldn’t be happier. Also @Jmurphy87 can you tell me where you saw the updated SLX MGL? Funny enough my last order was a SLX MGL from JLS.

@J._Bricker We have Amazon prime in my house but it’s secondary as a streaming service due to buying so much stuff on Amazon and if they require a separate subscription my wife and I agree we’re not going down that road. With that said my 17 year old son has friends coming by tonight and it appears they will be streaming both the UFC fights and the game tonight 😃

@J._Bricker I think you hit the nail on the head here. But I still call 🐂💩on paying to watch any sport especially my hometown teams.

I just heard it’s coming back to the Tinley Park convention center February 16th, 17th & 18th and they’re supposedly doubling the size and vendors. Although I wasn’t impressed last year if I’m around I’ll be there.

Are/were they available in the Japanese domestic market?

@Puggz I was gifted a spinning reel this past season by our very own @bulldog1935 with a double handle, first time I’ve ever used one and I will say it has made me a believer in the balance on the retrieve if that makes sense. It may be in my head but dang if it didn’t have a certain feel that has me wanting to look into a double handle for an older Daiwa I have (Laguna), the reel he sent me is a Tica btw.

@Fishing_FL_WI_Will Although I don’t normally use expensive spinning reels I did purchase both a Daiwa BG 1500 and a Stradic 1000 last spring both at a great price. I will say both performed well but there’s something special about the Daiwa even with the weight, the line lay is absolutely perfect and the reel is eerily smooth.
