  1. @Bdnoble84 I would go with a 7:? Gear ratio. The 7 speed is fast enough and you could always reel a little faster if needed when the conditions warrant it but a 7 speed is very versatile imho.
  2. @ATA I love my Cummins motor also although my truck isn’t a Dodge😉
  3. @Shinmothy Go to the upper left corner of the home page and tap the menu button then tap gear reviews and you will find the reviews there.
  4. Exactly why I don’t even bother 😬 With that said you can call site sponsor DVT as he seems to be more than willing to help out including advice as far as I can tell. Best of luck.
  5. I’m going to suggest the Okuma TCS A in 7’-0” med. hvy or 7’-0” hvy with lure ratings from 3/16- 1 ounce depending on model, both cost $165.00 on tackle warehouse but you may find one cheaper. They are listed as mod fast action and I have the 7’-0” med + power and find it extremely versatile, I bought it based on several reviews on here from both written reviews available in the archive section and members who use them and recommended them. Best of luck and keep us updated.
  6. @CaughtMeABiggun I wish I could help a little more and I may have a couple catalogs older than this one (2006) but I can’t get to them currently but I hope this helps a little.
  7. @slonezp Is that part of the Coors beer family? I hear Carmen DeFalco on AM 1000 talking about that whiskey quite a bit lately.
  8. @KP Duty Best of luck 🤞🏻 Although I don’t need it the 6’-8” lews rods are tempting 😬 Although I can’t figure out the difference in them based on their description but they have different model #’s
  9. Sierra has a couple different Lews Custom Lite (old version) rods for $69.99 normally $169.99. I have not used that rod series for the record.
  10. St Croix is doing a similar contest with their new PHYSYX rods and Sevin reels.
  11. @Motoboss “Where men are men and the sheep are scared” 😆😂
  12. I’m going with the Okuma TCS-A 7’-0” medium + moderate fast rated for 3/8-3/4 ounce lures. Nice soft tip to launch a bait a mile but enough backbone to set the hook. I have mine paired to a Tatula 80 with 10 pound Seaguar Basix fluorocarbon.
  13. @ATA looks like a gopher.
  14. @FrnkNsteen Good point as I’m the same when I’m trading in I’m walking out with something new even if I don’t need it 🤪
  15. @ReggieT Nice purchase for the price 👍🏻 Do yourself a huge favor and make sure it’s properly setup for the lures you’re using by reading and watching as much as you need and you’re going to enjoy.
  16. @FrnkNsteen I too took advantage of the BPS trade in sale but I’ve learned to hold onto my trade in until I’m ready to purchase and our BPS (Bolingbrook IL) has a cash register in the fishing department and he handled the trade in and sale transactions. I also stopped at my favorite local shop (Anglers Outlet) on my way home yesterday from a work meeting. I’m still debating on putting an alder Abu Garcia Cardinal or a Piscifun Carbon X 1000 on the St Croix and I’ll agree with you guys that love them and although as pointed out parts aren’t readily available but as of 3 seasons they show no signs of needing any.
  17. @Peacedivision @WaskaCrank12 I think you may be on to something 😉
  18. @Jig Rookie She’s a nice one for sure 👍🏻
  19. Although I don’t use my hvy powered rod’s much I’m going to say at right under your budget at $165.00 on Tackle Warehouse I really feel the Okuma TCS A 7’-3”rod is a lot of rod for the money. It’s labeled a frog/swim bait rod rated for lures 1/4-2 ounces and has a nice moderate tip that hits a solid backbone pretty quickly. You’re going to get a lot of options hopefully but it’s going to help if you offer what you’re looking to do/techniques with the rod. From the sounds of it maybe football jigs and buzz baits in your waters.
  20. @Way north bass guy Best of luck on your endeavor 👍🏻
  21. @T-Billy Couldn’t have said it better. I know it’s nowhere near as back breaking as carpentry. Not quite the same pay but I’m happy with the trade off.
