  1. @Texas Flood If you’re looking for a Lews rod they have quite a few rods to choose from. You should look up the David Frits crank bait rods, they also have a 7’-3” TP1X available at Tackle Warehouse that is a medium heavy rated from a 1/2-1-3/8 ounce and a TP1 Black 6’-10” med heavy moderate fast rated to 3/4 ounce. I have the previous version of the TP1 and other than the rod being white colored which is not my favorite color it’s a nice rod at its price point. Although if it broke I would replace it with a speed stick custom lite in 7’-3” medium heavy moderate fast rated up to 1 ounce myself. All are showing availability on Tackle Warehouse for an exchange if you’re interested in Lews rods.
  2. I’m using these in black and chartreuse and really like them.
  3. @lastmanstanding I’m going to sound like a broken record but this is right up @bulldog1935 and @redmeansdistortion’s alley and hopefully they will chime in 😉 By the way that is a cool side plate to boot.
  4. I’m going to beat the proverbial dead horse again. As I’ve said a few times on here before 🤔probably too many times 🤪 The biggest problem is parts support, not that it has stopped me before and probably won’t in the future either. The second problem is on some of the lower end reels the adjustments made ie tension knob just doesn’t seem to hold and winds up varying from tight to loose without frequent checking. With that said I have 3 Piscifun Carbon X spinning reels and I have and still will recommend as a bang for the buck reel, a Piscifun Saex Elite casting reel and lastly a Kastking Royal Legend 2 casting reel that is a 5 speed in left hand that doesn’t see much action but I just can’t seem to get rid of it and when I think I will I wind up using it and thinking it serves its purpose. Lastly I just purchased a Kastking rod that I really like but a 1 year warranty on a $120.00 rod that said warranty has a few complaints about made me a little nervous. So again in a long winded way ask about parts support.
  5. Although I don’t own any round reels I couldn’t agree more with the above statement. I also own a few “other manufacturers” reels and as I’ve mentioned in a previous thread I got lucky having a Piscifun reel fixed when I realized it’s the same reel as an Ardent and was able to order a part from them when I found out Piscifun doesn’t offer parts. I also have a Dream Tackle reel that’s a pleasure to use and extremely lightweight but it too has zero parts support as far as I can tell.
  6. @djhands That is a fine looking trio right there 👍🏻
  7. Calling @bulldog1935 and @redmeansdistortion to chime in on this one not to mention @TnRiver46 and quite a few others on here.
  8. Hey everyone although I’m a bit late on this I have to say “Good Lord” did I receive some of the best customer service ever from Bass Pro Shops. So I sent in a 2001 BPS Pro Sho Pro Qualifier spinning reel which I said “please just grease and lube” not only did I receive my reel sent back in tip top shape I received a spare spool which I paid for but also the original frame and the spare parts as BPS is getting ready to call the reel vintage and no longer offer parts in that lineup 🤔
  9. @Flyfish-mt No Daiwa is not offering their Hyperdrive on the Tatula 150 yet. But the Tatula 150 as far as I know and someone will correct me if I’m wrong is the same frame size as a Tatula CT which I have and love and the 200 is the same size as the original second generation Tatula which I have in a Type R and also love. I’ll try to upload a few photos tomorrow to show what I mean unless someone else beats me to it😉
  10. 🤔I’m a bit confused as to what you’re referring to as the TW stands for T-Wing as far as I know. You said you were interested in a larger framed reel and the 150 offers that and a bit more line capacity. As far as the frame sizes and line capacity you can find that information here as it’s been explained before or google Tackle Warehouse or Daiwa and you’ll find the line capacity for the Tatula series available.
  11. If you’re happy with the Tatula 100 you should look into a Tatula 150 which is a bit larger. Or they offer a Tatula 200.
  12. PS I’m right there with you but it’s a bit more than my budget allows for 😉
  13. For what it’s worth I have several different “panfish” rods ranging from short 5’-6” ultralight & light powered rods to my personal longest 7’-2” light powered rod and a handful of others in ultralight to light powered and if I had to choose only 1 for all of my panfish applications it would be either my 7’-0” St Croix Avid Panfish light powered rod or my 7’-2” BPS Panfish Elite light powered rod for the versatility of casting and retrieving jigs/smaller crank baits or casting a jig or baited hook under a bobber, I feel the light powered rods are more versatile. I fish from the bank with very little obstructions in my path but if I need I have a 6’-4” light powered rod that will handle the same duties I mentioned above that I also love. As far as I’m concerned if the rod in question is only for panfish there are quite a few rod companies from low end to high end specializing in panfish series rods but for my money light powered fast action rods are the most versatile with soft tip sections but good backbone to be versatile.
  14. I just recently bought 2 St Croix panfish rods. My most recent is the panfish series and prior to that a Avid Panfish series rod and although I don’t have a ton of time or catches on either they’re both well made with the Avid being worth the extra money in my opinion. For a good handful of years I have been using 2 BPS panfish Elite rods and although lower in price they are excellent, again in my humble opinion.
  15. I’m running braid on my Ned rig setup, I prefer Daiwa J-Braid Grand 8X in light grey.
  16. I have a 6’-3” light powered extra fast spinning rod and a 7’-1” med light fast spinning rod. I’ve fished with 6pound test and currently with 4 pound test on the 6’-3” with 1/16 th ounce road runners and my 7’-1” has 8 pound braid and it’s primary use is Ned rigs. Mind you I fish retention ponds that don’t produce many large fish but I don’t feel I would be underpowered with either on a decent sized bass.
  17. I own a Curado 151 MGL and the Tatula 80 is definitely smaller than that so I would think the Tatula 80 is going to get lost in your hands. I wish I could help out on the new Tatula 100 but I haven’t personally handled one as I know if I do I’m going to want to upgrade my current Tatula 100 😉
  18. @Flyfish-mt Although as I said I don’t own the 24 Tatula 100 but I do own and love the previous version and I will say the Tatula 80 is definitely smaller than that. I’m not sure if you’re familiar with the Daiwa Alphas 800 but the Tatula 80 shares the same frame.
  19. I purchase from Japan Lure Shop as do several others on this site. Although I don’t own a Tatula 100 from what I’ve read and hear from others it’s a great buy, I’ll also add the Tatula 80 which I do own and love available from JLS for $109.20 and the Tatula 100 is $113.75 as of today. I will suggest the upgrade on the shipping which cost me $12.50 to Illinois and delivery was 5 days or less. I tried the cheaper shipping option as I was in no hurry on my last order and it took around 2 weeks but I believe there was a holiday involved. The bonus of ordering from JLS is you receive a free lure with your order, my 3 orders included a Jackhammer chatter bait, a Megabass vision 110 jr and a Megabass dark sleeper.
  20. I’m not saying you’re wrong @Peacedivision but always make sure the special deals such as these ring up correctly as I’ve had multiple occasions at the DSG by me when the store put colored dots on the clearance merchandise which dictated the % off and when it was rung up it didn’t match with the % off it should have.
  21. @slonezp Those are some beautiful fish especially the pike 👏🏻
  22. As some on here may recall as I posted before I’m the happy recipient of @bulldog1935’s retired Tica Cetus. He and I have swapped many pm’s and although I’ve never pulled the trigger on a Tica I can understand why he speaks so highly of them. It’s no secret I can’t service my reels opposite of bulldog and many others on here who frequently tear down and add upgraded bearings etc but as far as I recall the Cetus is stock with the exception of a set of aftermarket handles bulldog so generously supplied as well when he gifted me the reel. I had the reel paired to a bargain priced St Croix Premier light powered rod I bought on clearance too many years ago to remember when DSG moved into what was once Galyans sporting goods.
  23. Although I’m not sure how far back we’re going I have a few. I have a Daiwa Tatula Type R that I bought when a tackle shop website posted it for sale and told me they were cleaning out the warehouse and came across them still brand new and its brother the Cabelas Arachnid I bought at least 15 years ago and still love them both. Also although it’s not currently in my possession as it’s in Springfield being serviced I love my 2001 BPS pro qualifier spinning reel. When I spoke to the gentleman who worked on it I asked about a spare spool and he informed me he found one which is on its way to my local store as of Monday. As a side note I bought the reel second hand brand new from a guy who bought them on clearance and resold them for a minor profit and he included the free rod that was advertised which I also still own.
  24. @Bigbox99 I’m assuming you’re talking about the 7’ rod 🤔 although I held and almost bought the 7’ version mine is the 6’-10 medium powered fast action rod and it has a soft tip with a decent amount of back bone. I’m pretty sure it’s the same blank as the first generation Lews Carbon Fire which I also have in the 6’-10” version. Either way it’s a heck of a bargain rod imho. Dang it now I’m thinking I may have to purchase the medium heavy version based on your review. Dang Tackle Monkey 😆
