  1. I’ve only purchased one used reel from ALF a Shimano Curado MGL in mint condition. But I also purchased a “open box” discounted Daiwa BG that was in perfect condition and I also purchased a leftover Daiwa Tatula Type R brand new in box from a tackle shop in 2020 that when I inquired about it they said it was sitting in the warehouse on a shelf forgotten about and again it was absolutely perfect and still is.
  2. @ATA I’m sincerely hoping everything is alright with Tank and his house along with yours more importantly. Also nice looking rainbow trout the better half is holding up.
  3. Soda bread not so much, but Firestone oh heck yeah count me in😜. My son turned me onto this brand several years ago with a 4 pack of double IPA’s or maybe imperial IPA’s that were some of the best tasting beers I’ve ever had but man did they sneak up on you 😬which is why they probably only sold them in the 4 pack😆 Tonight I’m indulging in Yuengling as it’s finally been brought to Illinois even though It’s been sold in Indiana for 🤔 I have no idea how long😉
  4. I’ve purchased twice over a handful of years and both times I received exactly what I ordered. I will say I agree with @JediAmoeba on both points as far as pricing and shipping but I wouldn’t hesitate to order from there again but I’ll add if you can figure out who’s selling it do a google search of that particular vendor.
  5. If I may ask where are you listing your used for sale gear? I’m not that far from you in New Lenox and I grew up in Tinley Park.
  6. He is definitely passionate🤣😂😆
  7. “Oh look honey he has his life motto tattooed on himself” 🤣😆 I know I’m paraphrasing the movie line but having a daughter of my own it makes me laugh .
  8. @bulldog1935 Although I’m not sure how comfortable those vampire grips are they sure do look cool in my opinion, but my favorite is still the green and black polka dotted pistol grip from I believe frog products. Feel free to correct me and share the photo if you remember what I’m referring to.
  9. @msgf91 Using braid on shallow spools is something you could spend a lot of time reading about on here from some real experienced members including but not limited to…on second thought I’ll not name anyone but the information on here is really well written out and pretty informative to me at least.
  10. So question for both of you, how do you like it just based on initial impressions? Is it smooth, and do you feel the diameter is correct without actually measuring it or does it seem they’re stating breaking strength but using larger than listed diameters? Again I don’t expect measurements and also @MickD what reel are you using the 10 pound on as most people tend to not recommend any braid under 30 pounds on a casting reel, and if you don’t mind sharing your initial impressions after casting it in the yard I for one would greatly appreciate your opinions.
  11. Dang $263.00 is definitely a bit steep. I will add though that I personally do enjoy my Revo X 5 speed which only cost $99.99 msrp at the time.
  12. @Sp33dSnake I’m going to agree with everything you said and I’ll add my first foray into bait casting reels was a low end Daiwa and then a Browning bait cast reel at least 20 years ago and I also almost also swore off bait casting reels. My current collection of casting reels includes a Daiwa CA80 bait cast reel that cost me around $70.00 shipped to my door that I really like and absolutely blows the previous 2 mentioned out of the water. I will also add the the Abu Black Max and probably the bottom line Lews today would also blow the aforementioned out of the water.
  13. @12poundbass Thank you for replying as I was honestly asking as I wasn’t raised with any sort of farm animals. I follow a handful of Instagram accounts that raise and or rescue everything from farm animals of every variety to domestic animals from dogs, cats and even small mammals and cold blooded animals and have learned that horses are prey animals and as you said very rarely sleep laying down which I found absolutely fascinating and love learning about animal behavior.
  14. @Motoboss I don’t personally have any sort of cattle and I don’t exactly live by many cattle farms but I pass enough of them in my daily work routine that I’m now going to be watching this season. Question for you, does the laying down theory work with horses also?
  15. Although I don’t own the reel anymore I had a BPS Carbonlite 2.0 casting reel that I believe is based on the Lews LFS reel with dual brakes and a different color scheme. I had I believe 12 pound suffix 21 monofilament spooled on and had zero issues for a few years throwing small cranks and spinner baits mostly but I just couldn’t get comfortable with the ergonomics. Based on that reel alone I would have zero issues purchasing a Lews reel and if I come across a good price on a SLP model I may just pull the trigger.
  16. My favorite retention pond literally just thawed completely yesterday so I’m hoping to stop next week. It was crazy yesterday seeing the Saganashkee Slough in Lemont thawed out on the west side while the east end was still completely covered in ice. If I wasn’t in my work truck I would’ve stopped for a photo.
  17. Sending a prayer up now. 🙏
  18. @FrnkNsteen I had the same issue with the rod tips and took enough rubber tubing sliced to be a flat square about 2”x2” and just used the house stapler on each end catching just the edge of the mesh and it works pretty well.
  19. @FryDog62 For what it’s worth I feel you did the right thing also, regardless of the store.
  20. I don’t know if you’re opposed to ordering from Bass Pro Shops but they are showing the LFS in stock in your preferred ratio and right hand retrieve.
  21. Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers today @Catt
