At night for LM, I'm fishing the surface(wake/buzz/frog) or the bottom(jig/big worm). I only use heavy gear and oversized baits after dark. I'm in total agreement with RRocket, in some ponds and lakes the bass just shutdown after dark. I tried over and over to figure those places out only to right them off as night targets.
I pass within a mile of the BPS/Cabelas once or twice a week on the way to the lake. I never stop with my boat and gear, to prevent involuntary donation. I do visit the store 3 or 4 times a year. My Bait Monkey is nocturnal, so TW, Digitaka, HookUp Tackle, etc. usually get my money.
I don't anger easily but the power company turn the power off to my electric fence while cutting limbs and clearing the powerline. When finished they failed to turn it back on, allowing our cows to destroy a $1,000 of hay and tear the fence down(8 hour repair). I'm glad they were not still around when I finally figure out the power failure, because I was mad enough to chokeslam the idiots.
I can assure you they have a dam and it's closer than you'd think. They don't travel very far and they're a pretty solid tough animal so I'd suggest forgoing birdshot.
I want to say Art. But like most scientist nowadays I make an educated guess, fail, make an educated guess, fail, make an educated guess and sometimes something works. So maybe both.
And I am actually a semi - amateur artist, just not at fishing.š
