  1. Spinning-Berkley Ultra 8 to Seaguar Red label leader Casting- Original Power Pro to Seaguar Red label I've used multiple higher end FC's for leaders and found zero benefits over the Seaguar Red label for my use.
  2. My Ned stick is the BPS Carbonlite 2.0 ML fast 6'9"
  3. Long cast and 6 lb mono is a perfect combo for a difficult hook set on trebles. You say you're casting 65 to 75 yards. Couple that with 25%+(per Berkley website) line stretch and those barbs aren't getting sunk. You're getting 48.75' to 56.25' of line stretch on a hook set which is why they're being prematurely released. Gonna need a good stiff extremely long rod to compensate for that much stretch. Go braid . I've spooled my 1000 Stradic ci4+ and 6'9" medium-light fast rod with Berkley Fireline Ultra 8 Carrier 8 lb to a FC leader and it'll launch a 1/10 Ned completely out of sight.
  4. I also own the Abu ALX and it's a great reel small and light. Just today I was tossing a 1/8 oz spinnerbait 20 to 25 yards with the flick of the wrist on 10 lb mono. The discontinued ALX has been replaced with the ALF.
  5. I'll throw clear/translucent topwater baits in clear water when the bass are targeting smaller baitfish.
  6. I keep on hand a set of compound cutters for the occasions I may need to cut a hook/split ring.
  7. Bluegill swimbait might help improve you avg. weight but may reduce your numbers. I can assure you they're eating them.
  8. Redfish magic comes with a single Colorado blade and elastic shad body but very easy to change to a willow. The arm is similar to a beetle spin so you can also change the jig head weight or shad body to a skirt.
  9. I fish 1/8 to 2 ounce spinnerbaits. Depends on the bait size and depth I'm fishing.
  10. 1) The 4 lakes I fish the most really slow down at around 80 degrees. 2) The clearer the water the better the big fish bite is in my opinion. 3) In clear lakes my better nights have been darker nights. Doesn't seem to make much difference on my muddier lakes.4) Yes. 5) I believe it does make a difference with larger bass. I bowfished for alot for 12 years and saw more 5 lb+ largemouth in 4' and shallower water at night than most would believe. The crawfish are of course nocturnal and threadin and gizzard shad cruise the shallows after dark. Especially the large gizzard shad.
  11. I fish a Stradic 2500 ci4+ on a BPS Carbonlite 2.0 7'6" medium fast action and Stradic 1000 ci4+ on a BPS Carbonlite 2.0 medium - light fast action. Very light and well balanced combos. I puchased at the BPS and recieved $50 off each rod (combo deal).
  12. Punch those turtles in the face with your paddle. Nets save rods everyday. Glad St. Croix is gonna take of you.
  13. Great info. Thank you Glenn
  14. I took my Revo ALX off a 7'11" heavy and mounted it on a 5'6" medium rod to go creek fishing. Pinpoint accuracy with a 1/4 oz spinnerbait. I really had a great time with that baby rod. Gonna invest in a few more.
  15. I have a school of Bull Shads and definitely feel like they're worth the price. They're not as refined as other swimbaits but they catch fish. The Bull Herring is also a great swimbait if you fish a lake with bluebacks.
  16. I fish at night basically all summer to beat the heat and humidity here in Georgia. As has been stated a headlamp is a must. I'll add get one with a swiveling head. A bright hand held light and air horn can help alert your presence to boaters not aware of your location. Minimize your gear as much as possible. Can't go wrong with Texas rigged worm or creature, jig, spinnerbait, and topwater. 3 rods and small tackle bag is plenty(less to step on or trip over). Bug spray comes in handy. I fish heavier line at night and upsize my lures. Knowledge of the area in the daylight is great or gps. I've been fogged in on waters I know like the back of my hand and if not for gps it may of been daylight before I'd of found the boat ramp. Slow down it's safer. Lifejacket at least when running the gas motor. If alone I always wear my inflatable lifejacket 100% of the time. I know more info than you ask but all mentioned go night fishing with me. Goodluck.
  17. Both a great. But I will not fish a T-winged reel.
  18. With 25 & 30 lb CXX and a 4 to 8 ounce swimbait, line capacity makes a big difference in LPT on a long cast.
  19. Renosky Keystone minnow?
  20. I fished a friends Ballistic LT for 6 hours and it's a very nice reel. But my 2500 ci4+ almost reels itself. My next 2 or 10 reels will be ci4+.
  21. My 09 Chevrolet Z-71 LTZ 6.2 for the off road destinations. I'll use my wife's 18 Z-71 LTZ 6.2 when I want to feel pretty.
  22. If you let the back seat up you can lay the rods across the center console with handles under the left rear seat and most likely get 8' rods in there. That works in my Chevrolet but is no good if you have a passenger that wants to ride up front. They can always ride in the right rear seat.?
  23. Another Revo Toro Beast 60 or Stradic Ci4+ 2500
  24. Trick worm, Fluke, and Senko are three that consistently produce for me. The Ned Rig is a good lure also.
