  1. I fish big swimbaits, jigs, blade baits, and alot of vertical spoons with baitcasting gear. Ned rig, dropshot, and shakey head on spinning gear. Long cast and slow down.
  2. I fish the 1000 Ci4+ as my light finesse and the 2500 Ci4+ for heavy finesse. I personally see very little benefit in the 1000. It's a great reel, but the 2500 is close to a perfect fit for me.
  3. As long as the water is still a liquid you can catch fish. Goodluck. Be safe out there.
  4. ? So they pull you to the turn around spot then you pull them back??
  5. Muzzy 200 lb braid. Poor casting but man it's strong.
  6. Yep. When the knob quits spinning twitch your jerkbait. Then do it over and over. It's good for making you go slower when the waters cold.?
  7. Watch some videos, get the SLX schematic, get the correct size screw driver and wrench, and get to it. Go slow and take pics with your phone as you go. Worst case scenario is you have to send it to a pro in a ziplock bag. I broke my SLX down before I ever cast it and cleaned the (10w30)? oil out of the bearings and lubricated them with thinner oil. I service a 100 to 150 reels a year and until I tackled the first one I'd never opened one up. Servicing is easier and cheaper than fixing a reel.
  8. I installed a Solix 15 SI GPS , Terrova 80 with bluetooth, 360 Imaging, and 3 group 31 batteries on my 1448 Lowe and couldn't be happier. I'd start with the TM as it will really benefit you in fishing in any wind. In the past the wind was a major frustration for me fishing out of a light aluminum boat, fighting the boat more than fishing. But I do really like being able to tap on my Solix and my Terrova will take me right to a waypoint.
  9. I'm a speed freak and proud. I run all 3 of my boats WOT every trip. From slowest to fastest. 2.9 mph, 15.1 mph, 27.4 mph and those are GPS speed with just me and tackle.? My boats are simple fishing platforms and most lakes have ramps in the general area I'm going to fish. I fished tournaments for years zipping around and understand the need for speed. I catch bigger fish nowadays going slower.
  10. Berkley Ultra 8 Crystal (easy to see)10 lb braid and leader 6, 8, or 10 lb fluorocarbon depending on what lure I'm fishing and water clarity.
  11. Never handled the JMP reel. I picked up a SLX 6.3 a couple weeks ago and have been very impressed with it for a $100 reel.
  12. snake95 mid to high 40's? I'm in mid Georgia and we're at 58-60 right now. I'm fishing a short drop drop shot, Ned, shakey head, blade bait, jig, and a jigging spoon. We only got down to 47 degrees surface temp last year here. It's hard to beat a spoon when it's in the 40's.
  13. I tex pose my hook and haven't had any hook up problems. If I fish a worm thicker than the magnum shakey Zoom I use a Strike King Tour Grade Mag Jig Head. I'm fishing braid to fluorocarbon, so I'm not dealing with much line stretch. Full mono or fluorocarbon could have hook up problem due to stretch but it's not likely.
  14. Buckeye Lures Spot Remover Pro 1/8 paired with a Zoom Finesse or Zoom Shakey Head worm regular & magnum. Always experimenting and always comeback to those combos.
  15. Looks like a fine time to start super tuning reels. I've cleaned and lubed mine for years and finally polished internals, added and changed bearings on one. Now they all must be done.
  16. You sir and your family will be in my thoughts and prayers. Safe travels.
  17. Revo Winch is nice with 5,6,8, and 10 xd sized lures
  18. Always carry IWB my 9mm Shield unless I'm headed to the woods or into town then it's my Glock 20 10mm OWB.

She was back in the water in under a minute. My fat girls are too precious to kill. Only way I'll ever keep one from anywhere over 3 lbs is if it's a lake record.
  20. I quit hurting after a couple weeks and quit thinking it totally after 5 weeks. I still stretch daily and before any activity and I haven't any futher pain or weakness.
  21. Stop doing the movements that irritated it to begin with. Take an anti-inflammatory if you can. Gently stretching a couple times a day will increase the bloodflow and shorten your healing time. I used a TENS unit on my elbow and it helped. I also used a heating pad for 20 minutes then iced it for 20 minutes, once a day for the first couple weeks.

What's really amazing to me is I've caught two bigger than her and three close to her size in my 1.1 acre pond. My fishing buddy had just called me and I had my ear piece in talking to him when I hooked her. After I finally lipped her I realized he was laughing at me. So I ask him what's so funny? He said I hollered get the net 3 or 4 times. I may have in the moment. Yes it did. It's a great casting reel and surprisingly smooth.
  23. Welcome. Stick-O's and Zoom Super Flukes work and are affordable.
