I don't like big bass, they pull too hard and hurt my arms. I can't begin to tell y'all how many giant followers I had to jerk my swimbait away from. I much prefer 2 or 3 maybe even 4, two to three lbers on a 6 to 8 hour trip.

I throw my large & heavy crankbaits on my Daiwa DX 8' Swimbait rod Med- Heavy that's rated for 1-6 oz. It'll launch the heavy cranks and squarebills along way.

Very true and if I had twice the storage I'd fill it quickly.

I use an old hunting backpack. Of course if I get rained on it gets hung up until it's dry then back in the backpack. I don't have 1/10 the storage in my jon that A-Jay has in his monster Lund.?

The Gerber StrongArm is a nice knife. I don't think I'd go gator hunting with it but it'll work great to remove a python from a leg. Just a thought, you might want to consider an inflatable life jacket.

I can throw 1/8 oz spinnerbaits and 1/10 oz head Ned rigs with a Curado 70( 10 lb mono) and a Revo ALX( 10 lb fluorocarbon). As stated above the rod is very important in casting lighter baits.

That's a fine looking rig with exactly 10 times the horsepower my big boats got.

It took catching two very nice fish when I had no scales with me to learn that lesson. I don't put a rod in the truck or hook up the boat without my scales. The big ones like to surprise me when I'm not expecting it. My last one over 9 lbs I caught on a crappie tube under a cork fishing for bream with 4 lb test.

I'd always go with the HUGE BASS pond. I like a chance at bigger fish as opposed to numbers of dinks. Goodluck.

A Rapala F05 in rainbow trout on 4-6 lb test mono cast parallel to the bank and slowly retrieved with your rod tip just above the water. I've had 20-50 bass days in water temps as low as 38 degrees all caught within 3' of the bank. I also carry a digital meat thermometer in my bank bag so I know the water temp.

I wear my Mustang Survival Elite HIT when going solo. It's not cheap but it is comfortable to wear.

I fish blade baits and lipless baits all winter. Which one I throw is chosen for the depth I'm fishing. Bladebait for deeper(12'+) water and lipless for shallower water. I cast them and yo-yo both of them and it's very productive. The blade bait sinks and falls faster than a lipless. I use the blade baits for little to no structure and a vertical spoon for thick structure. Tried vertical fishing the blade bait and had much more success with jigging spoons. Sorry for the long post but I catch more bass in three months of winter than the other 9 months of the year. Not the biggest bass but the most #'s wise.

Make some kind of journal. I use my phone and take pics of my truck dash when I arrive at the lake for air temp, depth finder for water temp, and every fish with the lure it was caught on. My phone automatically logs the date, time, and location. This is very beneficial after a couple years of fishing a lake. I just look through my gallery the night before a trip see what I caught them on last year and the year before around those dates and adjust for warmer or colder water temps. I tried the paper journal but failed to maintain it after getting up a 4am fishing all day in the heat or cold then drive home, parking the boat, feeding the cows, and eating supper, I wound up napping for 8 or 9 hours.

I fish big swimbaits, jigs, blade baits, and alot of vertical spoons with baitcasting gear. Ned rig, dropshot, and shakey head on spinning gear. Long cast and slow down.
