  1. Not gonna lie those vids on the dock demon blew my mind. Crazy! Zebco Lure rating.... 1/64 ounce-as much your weak ass can lift.
  2. So a little more to the story on this fish. When I caught this fish my friend and I both looked at it and thought, d**n, that looks like it would taste great. My buddy stopped me from throwinng it back and kept it. Completley forgot he ate it until he sent me some pics today. Mind you I would have just filleted that thing completely haha, but here are the pics he sent me. Told me he checked up on the lakes in weston and said they told him they are very clean and free of any toxicity....so he ate the hell out of it. Said it was like eating a mangrove snapper lol. I should have just taken it with me. I threw a second identical one back too.
  3. d**n man sorry to hear that bud. Yeah Snakeheads are really mostly in the coral sringns/parkland/tamarac area. Surprised they haven’t spread out more. I need to go out for them sometime, it’s just hard because I can walk outside and catch a peacock bass less than 10 feet from my house ?. So when I bank fish it’s usually spur of the moment.
  4. Ok so I’ve never caught a snakehead in all my time in South Fl (haven’t really gone up to those areas or targeted them...yet) Have you tried fishing the Cypress Creek greenway? Never been but it looks promising. C14 canal is definitely the most notorious for SH’s though. If you’re just looking for a nice day of fishing and want a break from the urban hopping, I recommend going to everglades holliday park and renting a jon boat for half a day. Never caught a snake head , but it’s a lot of fun. You may not catch a snakehead, but you’ll most certainly hook up with some huge gar, bowfin, bass, etc. I’ve caught almost all the south Fl freshwater fish there save a SH lol (they’re in there though for sure) I never know what I’m gonna pull up there haha, could even be a baby gator. They have live shiners there too if you get tired of artificials.
  5. Nope can you believe that had ZERO fenwicks?! I asked the guy about it and he said for freshwater they are really pushing their iwn stuff...very sad. They used ti have a much bigger selection. I still need to try the one in Miami. Dania/Ft. Lauderdale was a no go.
  6. Well truth is I'm one of those guys that are still using 6ft medium spinning rods a lot. I have some old 6'6's that feel great too, but most of the new ones in stores felt pretty stiff. I was looking for a split grip in that 6'6-6'9 range yet just about all the models in Bass Pro like the Mojo Bass felt so unbalanced. This Aetos has it's handle a good 2.5 inches longer than most of the Awkward feeling split grips I found in stores. The 7 fters felt better, but are just too long. I have 7ft rods for inshore, but want to keep it a bit shorter for this one. Basically most of the 6'6 rods felt a bit stiff. I always felt the 6ft rods feel a bit more sensitive and just felt better in my hands (but my freshwater rods are mostly $50 beaters like lightning rods/ugly lites etc). Besides the ponds and lakes in South FL, I also do some everglades fishing and with those smaller weak rods I have caught the surprise huge Bowfin, gar, etc. I rarely need to cast extreme distances and most of the ponds and lakes near me are very light on cover. I'm not on a boat most of the time and when I am I'm in the canals in the everglades. I just wanted to know as some rod manufacturer's "mediums" feel like medium lights and some "medium lights" feel like Mediums. I think I'm just going to go with the versatility of the 6'6 MF. I feel like based on the materials/specs that this rod is an underrated bargain for what you get (and I'm pretty dead set on it haha). Thanks for your responses! Thank you! I wish we had Cabela's in Fl!
  7. @GeekFisher, @MIbassyaker I'm interested in an Aetos spinning rod as well. I haven't found a single shop in South Fl that carries any Fenwicks other than the eagles I've seen at Dicks/Walmart. I really wanted to pick one up and see how they feel before buying. I'm between the 6'6 MF & 6'9 MLXF. Worried the 6'6 is going to be too stiff or the 6'9 too weak. How to the ratings compare to other brands?
  8. How big do Mayan's get? All the other one's I've caught before were much smaller. Never caught one in any of these Weston lakes before either. This was in a gated neighborhood so I'm guessing not many fish it...maybe that's why they were so large.
  9. Guessing large Mayan? Never seen any with these colors and I caught another identical one the same day. They just seemed a good bit bigger and lighter in color than other Mayans I’ve caught. Fish was caught in Weston Fl.
