  1. Have not enough time to read all posts, but I do need support. Just bought 2 Curado DC's one left and one right! Decided if I was going to buy nice reels.....what a shame not to pair them with nice rods.....Loomis of course....well it gets more heartbreaking from here, I'll spare the details but will mention the purchase of a Bass Raider and 55# TM.... Pray for me....
  2. Reckon that all depends if I'm hungry for fish or not. I target mostly LMB and probably 95% of them go right back in. Like others....if I'm asked to keep a few for someone, I will... If I should ever be fortunate enough to land a 10#er or bigger she may end up on the wall. I suppose I'm a hypocrite of sorts.....cause I would dearly love to whup the Arse of any so called "Big Game Hunter" that kills for trophy purposes only....but my mind sees a huge difference between millions of bass versus animals no one intends to eat. Just my $.02
  3. Don't know how much the Merc weighs.....but Honda has a 2.5 @ 48lbs.
  4. Proud new owner of a Bass Raider 10E. Currently outfitted with MinnKota 55 and the Striker 4 fish finder. I saw a question posed about transducer mounting on these boats. My solution was to order a transducer pole mount from Fish Finder Mounts.com. Solidly constructed from aluminum, this mount is designed like a trolling motor. Clamps to the front transom and is capable of rotating 360, Not a cheap option, ($150 US) but should last the lifetime of the boat. Can be easily detached for use on a friends boat or a rental boat. Highly recommend you give them a call. Matt is very knowledgeable about all things transducer ( and will not hesitate to tell you so....lol) and will work with you to make sure you are fixed up right the first time. 3M marine adhesive 3200 is your best bet for sealing anything on these boats. Read about it a 3m web site, but dont get the 5200...problems with adhesion to plastic is the rumor.
  5. I understand and accept the pendulum action as described. It would seem to me that this anomaly would occur on the initial cast only. I have no way of knowing how many senkos are hit on the first free fall, but I suspect as many or more strikes happen while retrieving. If this is the case....then spinning tackle for Ned rigs lose their edge during retrieve. I'm interested to know how many of you are hit on senkos during the initial drop and how many are hit during the retrieve?
  6. I'm using 832 20# braid on all my baitcasters with a mono backing. If clearwater conditions are a problem I will tie on a fluro 15# leader. Wind knots and backlash no longer plague me now that I am using the Curado DC. Mono only is my line of choice for spinning, but am curious about the new hybrid lines for spincasting.
  7. I own 2 DC's.....One is mounted on a 7'2" Loomis NRX MH/F and the other is on an Expride 6'10 MH/F. I am well pleased with both matings.
  8. I have only tried ned rigging twice. Both times I fished it with the Loomis 873 mh/f. Did not boat any fish, but the sensitivity of the Loomis is so good I doubt I will be missing any hits.
  9. Purchased 2 of the DC's one right....one left. Had the problem early on with the first one. Like you I never heard the famous whine I had read about. Opened the sideplate and rotated the selector knob back and forth a few times. I did not respool, I was using a 15 lb mono as backing for a 20lb braid. I did use the KVD line treatment before trying it again. Long story short.....works perfectly now. Set mine up so freefall will leave maybe 2 or 3 loose coils. I can cast braid on setting 1 with just a slight amount of mid cast fuzzing.....but backlash free at end of cast with no feathering. To say I am well pleased with these reels would be a major understatement. One added note.....casting should be a free and flowing motion.....with 4-8 inches of free line to pendulum. Wrist snaps and shooting for the moon doesn't work well for me with these reels.
  10. IMHO Fluoro is suitable for leader only. Tried spooling it one time.....never again!
  11. I own the 873c Loomis and the 6'10" Expride both in M/H. The Loomis comming in at 7'2" seems to handle finesse type baits better than the Expride, maybe because of the added length. Both of these rods are excellent choices.
  12. I throw my jigs, worms, spinnerbaits all on a Loomis 873C paired with the Curado DC in 7.4:1. The rod is listed as a Med/Heavy designed for Carolina rigging. I may be missing something or using the wrong rig....but this setup works great for me.
  13. Recently acquired 2 curado dc's 7.4 : 1 left and right handed. Have used them both with weightless senkos w/o any problems. Using Suffix 832 20 lb with 12 lb floro. Casting distance with the #2 setting exceeded 30 yrds and some of the casting was into a 10 mph headwind. Yes....it really does all but eliminate backlash. If you have the chance to fish one, don't scratch it off your list untill you do.
