  1. Thank you all for the replies. I went with the St. Croix eyecon 7ft Medium light fast action. In my hands, it balanced better than the curado, premier and carbonlite. The carbonlite was balanced, but not a soft enough of a tip for me. As for my OP saying the St. croux premier was too whippy, i kustve picked up a light action that day, as i felt the medium light and it was just about perfect. Thanks
  2. Hey all, Looking at getting a nicer rod specifically for ned rigs for smallmouth. Currently using a Kastking walleye rod, 7'1" ML fast, which has a softer tip which i seem to like. So far I've held the St. Croix premier 7' ML fast, which was very whippy, ie a much softer tip then id expect from a fast action rod. Also tried the BPS carbonlite 2.0 in 7'2" ML Xfast. I felt this was too stiff of a tip for small ned rigs. What would be your preference as to length, action and power rod for under $150. It will be paired with a Pflueger President XT 25 size, 15lb Power pro to SC sniper. Thanks
  3. Correct, both in the water. Humminbird is on the bottom of my trolling motor, lowrance is on the outside of the transom. I also tried adjusting the angle of the TD, which didnt do anything. I will contact Lowrance with the pictures and see what they say. For 750 bucks, i expected a little better. Thanks for all the replies!
  4. The Lowrance is the Elite ti2 7in bought a couple months ago, and the Humminbird is the Helix 5 DI GPS bought last year. Also, speak8ig of the lowrance, has anybody had the problem where in shallow water, say 3ft or less, itll say im in 800ft and wont give any readings ( even in deeper water) until i turn the unit off and on again.
  5. Hello, I have a humminbird helix 5 mounted on the bow/ trolling motor transducer. I also have a Lowrance Elite Ti2, with the active imaging transducer mounted on the transom. I attached two pictures of the same area. The humminbird image is much clearer, easily able to see individual stramds of weed, while the Lowrance is very blurry not easy to read. Ive tried to adjust the setting to no avail on the Lowrance. Both units are set to the same frequency. Any suggestions?
  6. If there is a Dicks sporting goods near you, they will price match the cabelas flyer and have a better selection of Power Pro. I showed them the price for the 300yd spool on the cabelas website and they honored the price. I have done this before for cabelas sales ( 2.99 red eye shads a few months ago).
  7. Looking to add a fish finder to my boat. want to spend around 600 bucks. The Lowrance Elite Ti2 7 looks promising. I had a couple questions that Ive had a hard time finding answers for. 1.) Is spending an extra 150 worth it for Active Imaging over the standard HDI transducer. I should mention i usually fish smaller lakes, no more than 30 feet deep. I also plan on attaching the transducer to the trolling motor ( Minn Kota powerdrive v2). 2.) I have read that a tablet can be connected to the Elite Ti2 and duplicate the screen? If so, that would be handy for a co angler in the back of the boat with a cheap tablet. 3.)
  8. Looking for a new spinning rod for around 100 bucks. The goals for the rod are to fish for walleyes in the spring using 1/8-3/8oz jig head with minnow dragging on the bottom. I'd also like to use it for bass fishing during the summer, which is the majority of my fishing. I'd like to use this rod to fish for bass which is where I do most of my fishing, I'm thinking of using it for senkos, drop shot, ned rig etc. So far i'm looking at the st. Croix bass-x and dobyns fury. What do you guys think regarding a rod for 100 bucks and what weight and action. Thanks.
