  1. and another.
  2. I don't know if it's the best cause it's the only fishing game I've tried on the PC, but give BASS PRO SHOPS TROPHY BASS 2007 a whirl.
  3. This spring I saw something inhale a baby duckling from under the water with violent splash, I always assumed it was a snapping turtle but after reading some others thoughts my curiosity is peeked.
  4. well some articles I've seen may suggest a 5/0 ewg, but personally I find that a bit too big and go with a 4/0. My buddy has even had success with a 3/0 cause we ran outta the 4/0's.
  5. When I was a wee little lad my grandpa taught me to trout fish in the Sierra Nevada Mountains, I then taught my dad. I moved to Kentucky a couple years back and take up bass fishing for the first time. I quickly realize that this is a whole new ball game and start scouring google for tips...I find a few articles on this website called bass resource that shed some light on the subject. I went out to the river after learning a few things and wound up catching my very first LMB. Needless to say I was hooked and proceeded to spent hours just reading any and all information I could find on this site. Within a couple of weeks I was catching bass consistently, and I hadn't even discovered the forums section yet! Thanks to BR I now find myself teaching a buddy of mine who's been fishing these waters all his life...all because the only website he concerns himself with is his my-space page, lol. Act like a sponge on this site, absorb as much as you can and it will happen for you. Testimonial over :
  6. Black w/ Blue Flake Fat Ika skirt up on a 4/0 EWG gammy.
  7. The one thing that helped me when casting overhand with a BC was making sure the handle is facing the sky when you release your thumb. I roll my wrist as if I was turning a door knob counterclockwise. I found that heavier lures are easier learn to cast overhand with.
  8. Now a days I lie all the time, at least when I am at my favorite little hidden gem. I will just have caught 4-5 large bass and someone will walk up and ask me about my luck, and as hard as it is not to shoot off at the mouth about how great the fishing is I usually reply with something like, "it's been tough" or "meh, 1 or 2 dinks". See, I learned a little lesson this spring. After some kid found our spot while hiking through the woods I shared a little knowledge and some lure recommendations. He has a bit of success and proceeds to tell everyone in his school and their moms about the spot. Since then things just haven't been the same. Between the litter, dead snapping turtles with theirs shells smashed with rocks, and dead carp shot with pellet guns I am no longer providing any help to any strangers about how to catch bass. I hope they think its as baron as Mono Lake as far as I'm concerned.
  9. I bought scent because I smoke, but I not convinced it makes a difference...so now basically the only time I really use it is after repairing a slightly damaged ika with a lighter, to cover the nasty smell of butane and melted plastic. For me its really become a last resort for times when you just can't seem to buy a bite.
  10. This topic reminds me that I wanted ask about a similar situation that occurred to me about a month ago. I caught a bass and that appeared to already be blind in one eye and my hook just barely missed damaging his one good eye. Hypothetically lets say I did hook it in the good eye, and completely blinded the fish...what next? I always CNR, but what about releasing a fish that you just blinded, can this fish survive blind or should the fish be kept or what? Opinions please.
  11. Sad, just sad...
  12. Just watched a dude dump the rest of his shiners into the lake as he was leaving...I'm curious to know what problems this can present?
  13. I'd recommend the spot remover pro 1/8th oz model. It tends not to fall over keeping the worm standing straight up.
  14. My line is usually wet somewhere between 20-25 hours per week, weather permitting.
  15. I caught a bass just yesterday on a lizard t-rigged upside down.
