  1. You answered perfectly what I wanted to find out. I’m thinking a 746 cause I throw into very heavy cover. I got a sierra 735 I’m gonna use as a frog/swim jig when I buy whatever flipping rod I get. My 744 extreme is used pretty much for exactly what you use it for too, fantastic rod just not enough power for serious flipping
  2. Looking for a flipping rod for 3/8 and 1/2 ounce jigs. Bought a dobyns 744 I believe and don’t really have confidence flipping heavy cover like thick lay downs with it. Ended up using that for swimbaits and t-rigs. I just want first hand opinions of those rod line ups. I know dobyns would be a 746 for me cause they run lighter usually. But I’ve heard zodias is comparable to them even surpassing with sensitivity. I only run dobyns right now they haven’t broke and I love them. Just torn on what would be exactly what I’m looking for.
  3. Thanks to all for the input. I’m gonna keep it on for now and fish through the winter with it. Once spring rolls around I’m more than likely gonna replace it. I’ve never had gamma break off but 2 times on casts (both were jackhammers btw). Just feel like it would be a better idea unless it feels as good at the end of winter
  4. I’ve been out probably 100-120 times this year. When I hit brush or flip I usually cut off the line if I see abrasions. Knew it would wear out but still fishes good and feels good. I treat it with the kvd conditioner which to me actually seems to keep it in good condition compared to before. Not life altering by any means but in better shape and I keep rods stored indoors. Never really paid much attention to the stress stretch would put on. Kinda feel like changing it now cause I’ll pull myself over to the snag on a yak
  5. I have Gamma and red label on some rods. I was thinking the gamma has held up nicely and wanna keep it on till next year sometime. I don’t know why I wanna keep that and replace red label. Might just replace it all just wanted some opinions
  6. I love sharing moments with people, and wish I could when catching my 2 biggest bass. I had the best time of my life when me and my best friend fished for 31 straight days. I prefer fishing with fishermen when I do, taking kids out is a blast and helping young kids on the bank I always do. Giving baits and trying to teach tactics. I gotta say though, I LOVE being on the water by myself. Like most mentioned you get into a zone. No ones complaining about being bored. No ones trying to go to another spot(sometimes it pays off). You make all the decisions. Sometimes I like fishing with my girlfriend, sometimes I absolutely hate it. I hate when people complain about being hot. I’m never disappointed when I fish by myself even if I don’t catch anything. I guess that concludes my opinion on it. I will say though it is fun when you have a good time fishing with other people. Seeing my girl catch her pb. Seeing a kid loose their mind over a 3 pound bass. Yin and yang
  7. Well guys I found a place we’re my pb will more than likely be broken. I caught a 4.75 on a soft plastic swimbait after going through the motions. Stuck with that and hooked one, she peeled around for 3 minutes. Saw her multiple times and didn’t bring my net. Between 6 to 7 pounds she was, shook me of cause I was pulling her up and she shot up and gave me a head shake. I was told this place has multiple 7 plus pounders caught and a 9 or 2. Not a heavy bass population and good forage and lots of cover so I’ll report back when the pb is busted lol
  8. Wow you’re not kidding that is a skinny 10 pounder, never thought I’d say that. The head gives away how big it truly is
  9. Even if you break it that will always be your personal best moment
  10. The ONLY thing I buy from BPS or Cabelas anymore is clearance items or panfish baits. I’ve gotten really picky with what I like now. I know it’s subject to change but most that I’ve been to don’t carry what I like using and it costs substantially more. Dicks has dang good sales this time of year so I’ll buy some senkos and topwater there and Trokar hooks. I buy my bitsy bugs at wal mart. Other than that I have 2 online retailers and that’s all I’ve needed. People nailed it with the customer service. It’s all what they like or what they sell the most of at the 3 I’ve been at lately. Honestly, this one kid I met that worked at my old local bps just told me their is really nothing here worth buying. They had the old ducketts on sale and I asked him why he hadn’t bought any. Said look at the sign, we have to put a sign up cause of returns. He was THE ONLY honest one I had. Now there is a local shop off 50 called anglers inn. Everyone there is passionate anglers, some prices are compatible to online. Some are 2-5 bucks more. It sucks when tw is out, but I think they do very well for as much as they out through. It’s only the baits of the month that go out, I usually never have a problem ordering what I want. Sept early spring the most important time of year
  11. That’s great and all, but we are talking about a Mexican bass, unless I missed it I need a weight cause I know they’re monstrous I was wondering if that was yours. Watched a couple of your videos and noticed you are quick with the go-pro and see why you turn it off to geek out. Every video I’ve seen of guides in Mexico they are great net men
  12. Interesting point. Once I hit around 8 I enjoy every bigger bass (4 plus) a lot, but now I just wanna catch a dd
  13. That’s awesome you had your son there with you. Now you have access to a honey hole too. The glory of ponds To catch a pb on a frog is as good as it gets, crazy you caught it in the cold on topwater too. Always wanted to fish your neck of the woods
  14. This is something I never get tired of thinking about or seeing. I saw my best friend catch his pb and can re account the moment precisely. My pb was caught on what was a rough day. I always went to this one pond in MD cause the year before I had caught some 4 plus pounders and my pb. I just started getting obsessed and really diving into bass. That year completely cemented it. I knew fish would be bedding, so one night I worked till around 6 am and decided I was going to the pond for the heck of it. I worked 20 hours with a 4 hour nap in between and had to go. It’s a nice spot, a haven of sorts in a bustling city. Back in the woods a ways were I hunt, and a big chunk of woods so no one ever goes really. It’s at the end but Right off 95 so you still hear traffic. Anyways, I fished all morning without a bite. It was the first 80 degree day of the year and hadn’t got above 65. It just felt right. I was flipping with my first $100 plus rod, to no avail but with pride. Just bought Tungsten weight and was getting the feel of it. My dad swears by double tailed hula grubs and I grew up on em, hadn’t used them so I tied one on. Deep purple with a oil spilled colored drop shot weight. I make it to EXACTLY we’re I caught my pb the year before. It was a joke how I caught it honestly. I’m finishing a cast, and I’m seeing these dead rasa stalks in the bank. I’m giving it a hop every 2 to 3 seconds. For some reason I did this all the way up the bank till the water is literally 6 inches deep. I hope it and few a thud, just one and mind you I’m glassing it and can see perfectly. Never saw the bass. Instinct just set the hook and I’ve never felt this immediate power run until just last week. It took off and instantly I knew it was big, I turned it around and it Ran back the other way a good ways. I slid down the bank and i reeled it up and finally realized what it was. I lipped it as it was flopping in almost exactly were it was lying unseen when I hooked it. Only fish I caught that day and the feeling was like nothing I’ve ever had. Now I battle with finishing every cast methodically. It also taught me to just fish and fish through those slow days, and to take my time cause I never stop, I just panicked and fished to fast. Learned a lot that day and had the best feeling in the world for 20 to 30 seconds.
  15. I second this. I remember like a movie catching my pb. It was the only fish I caught that day
