  1. The more it blows...the more I will reach for a spinnerbait. this time of year I am partial to Indiana blades. If your water has any stain at all throw a blue glimmer skirted 1/2 oz spinnerbait with an appropriately colored swimbait with the tip dyed chartreuse and a no.2 gold Colorado with a no.6 gold Indiana blade. With wind blowing in on a bank, throw it tight and roll it back to you slow. Thank me later!
  2. Yes half the width. It is not easy to do and I am sure there are better options as others have mentioned. I do not tack it down before I cut it.
  3. You are correct it does not cast very far, but it is a killer. I should note that I also have used the worm with great success on a drop shot rig or wacky style with a light jig head
  4. Hi everyone. I am new on here and wanted to offer up one of my secrets for catching wary fish around shallow cover. Take some 4” finesse stule worms and cut them carefully in half, lengthwise right down the middle on a cutting board with a sharp knife(do this with a whole bag at home and not on the water). Cut them carefully so that both halves are perfectly even. Wacky rig one half of the worm on a small, light wire hook rigged on a spinning rod with 6 pound line because it can be very difficult to cast great distances. The halved worm falls super slowly and has a great wiggle with the slightest rod motion, but I generally just cast it to the edges of docks, trees, etc and let it fall all the way to the bottom. If you are fishing an area you know has bass but they are reluctant to bite, try this. By the way, it is best employed on calm days.
  5. Have you considered punching through the grass with a heavy weight and a creature type bait?
  6. Thank you for the warm welcome! @Sam I have fished all of those places extensively. I actually live on the historic James river.
  7. Thanks Darren. From the looks of it we fish the same waters!
  8. Thank you Log catcher
  9. All good comments in this thread. I worked for a national bass tournament trail for several years and spent a lot of time fizzing fish in the release boat especially in the summer months. I always fizzed through the mouth with care as to not over-fizz the fish using a specific needle marketed for this purpose.
  10. Hi everyone. I’m zach from Jamestown va. I have Been fishing all my life and love the tidal rivers and lakes of va. I am looking forward to connecting with like minded people and share some knowledge and input where I can.
