  1. I would not wire to a switch, those accessories switches should have a terminal board they get power from. On the terminal board there is usually empty spots. If you need help message me, I have done a lot of re-wiring on my 98 ranger.
  2. They have a very good line of bass rods as well. if you ever in the market check them out.
  3. Love my buoys, worth the money.
  4. My wife laughs at me because I have dropped so many companies due to stuff like this, even smaller inconveniences. Anything I buy now I go through Cabela's, I don't even bother spending my money anywhere else. I bought the Lowrance boat in a box bundle, I believe it was over 2000 dollars. After installing and testing, I realized I hated the units. I called Lowrance to see if I had a faulty unit, long story short, they would not take my exchange. So, I called Cabela's, after a couple of tiers of management I got a full refund. This was over 30 days of owning the units. Their customer service in my opinion is unmatched.
  5. Agreed, I got away with a trout rod and my old ugly stick for almost every style of fishing for a long time. Now I have about 16 rods in my boat one for every style, yes, I am that guy. hahah!
  6. I have been thinking about making my own rods and tackle. Living in New England we have a pretty long offseason. I need something to keep me from going crazy!
  7. I don't believe personally in keeping fish, but its your right if you want to keep your catch LEGALLY. Hope this guy loses his rights to fish for a long time. My best guess is he probably doesn't have a sportsman license.
  8. I am sure it doesn't feel so good for them, I wouldn't go Gronk spiking a bass. We all drop one once and a while, just be careful.
  9. 75 percent of the time I use a pop frog in the heavy stuff, since walking the dog is useless. Only time I walk the dog with a frog is when I'm pulling it out from under something or on the edge of weeds. In new England a frog isn't a big key player for me. Ish Monroe has a couple useful videos on frog fishing, check it out.
  10. I do this as well, I thought I was the only one! Getting that sweeping side to side motion comes down to your cadence and the rod your using. My first frog rod was like a broom stick, I went to a softer tip rod and walking the bait became easier.
  11. 98 Johnson starts everytime rebuilt and machined powerhead myself. Some people actually work/maintain our equipment. Dont need a brand new boat when you know how to turn a wrench.
  12. Depth change
  13. I saw this on a video, the reason they do it is because the drag is not "spinning" smoothly. Its coming off the reel in spurts instead of fluently. I notice it on my lower end spinning reels, not so much casting reels.
  14. 2013 F350 to pull my ranger currently. I did like my Chevy with a 8ft bed, it fit the yak perfect, sucked pulling the boat.
  15. I fish with my wife and my buddy, of course my wife uses all my stuff! My buddy is always prepared (expect for food always steals mine). I am hesitant to fish with new people, I don't mind if they have older equipment, what I do hate is complainers. I fished with a small group of guys last year on my boat. The entire week of fishing all I heard was complaining, they never wanted to fish/graph new areas. We went to the same 3 or 4 points every day. I caught a small limit everyday, while the rest caught maybe one. My boat was trashed with garbage everyday and I was left to lug batteries by myself. By the end of the trip I was so frustrated that I just aimed myself for the bests cast, left them fishing no mans land. Probably not the most mature thing to do.
  16. Id love to sit on one of those boats with a case of beer and just watch haha
  17. - if your not fighting the fish like wicked tuna then your not fishing right
  18. I am going to Black Lake in Sept for a week with my wife to do some fishing and relaxing. Any tips would be great, stuff to do in the area, restaurants, and any rocks that like to high five your lower unit. Thanks, Ryan
  19. I don't like fishing with people that I have never fished with before, especially on my boat. I have had people stuff fishing line and all their garbage in my live wells with out telling me (found weeks later). Also as stated above, they sometimes fail to mention they need to be home by 12 when you get on the water at 8 and they don't bring any food or drinks. I do have one buddy that likes to fish from sun up to sun down, so I stay away from new people.
  20. My buddy has a 85 tracker with a 50hp, I think about 17ft long. He has been fishing with his two sons in it for 15ish years. They go to Lake Champlain and the boat cruises with rods tackle cooler and 3 people. As for the wood in the back, pull it out, replace it with carpet and half inch marine plywood.
  21. Id say yak, remember with a boat you need to be able to run it on a hose for flushing/fixing something. Guessing your neighbors wouldn't be crazy with you dragging a hose and running a loud outboard in the parking lot. Other option is a jon boat with a trolling motor. When I lived in my apartment I stuck with the kayak, I would just leave in in the back of my truck on the weekends for easy fishing.
  22. 20 year old boat that does 60 miles an hour with power poles mega imaging minn kota ultrex… ill take that over a kayak any day.
  23. Last 5 years I have really gotten into bass fishing. I started bank fishing ponds early 2013-2015. 2016 I purchased a ascend kayak from BPS. Then in 2017 upgraded to a 1985 bass tracker that I found to small. Then 2018 to present I bought a 97 ranger 518dvs. I love having a bigger boat, I got a really good deal on it in the winter. Moral of the story is you'll eventually buy a boat, So just do it now. Start up is a little costly, but the wife loves sun bathing in the back while I fish, Win win for me.
  24. Every video is click bait, their Videos no longer have an value. If your going to watch fishing vids, bassresource and fish the moment are beyond educational.
  25. I couldn't agree more, I have been bass fishing for a couple of years now. Last year was my first time fishing from a boat and owning one. I can't tell you how much I spent on baits, I bought a ton of different colors, sizes and styles. By the end of the year the only left on the deck was a jig, whoppen plopper, drop shot and a T rigged craw.
