  1. Don't know what they cost but a friend has an Avid 20XB and loves it.
  2. Quantum Accurist 7:1 with 60 lb Amazon something line. 7 1/2' heavy rod I was given with a broken handle.
  3. Use the darn thing. Most of the parts are the same as the Stradic. I have 2 that I use the heck out of.
  4. Secure the anchor line anywhere with one of these... Easy peasy. Be sure to use 3/16 rivets.
  5. If you have front and rear seats a rain/snow shedding cover is easy to make. I built a frame, out of 1 1/2" pvc, that fits over the seat posts and the middle rests on the deck. The ridge pole is about 3 or 4' above the deck. I put curved, electrical pvc, on the ends. I use a heavy duty silver tarp and many bungees to hold it on the trailer or use gallon water bottles. It's easier to put on with 2 people but I can do it alone if necessary. The pvc lasts forever and the tarp lasts for a couple or 3 years if left out all the time.
  6. Like most of you I avoid docks with people on or near them. I've talked to people on them and never had a bad conversation.
  7. I pretty well know all the hot spots in my neck of the woods but don't fish them 2 days in a row. The weather and wind are the main things I go by if my favorite places don't pan out.
  8. 40 or so years ago I found a BBQ spit motor @ a garage sale and adapted it for a dryer. 3 RPM.
  9. I prefer the AT Aero after trying others. I don't do the Comfort just the plastic with no front cork. The CRB palm swell is about the same.
  10. Got out @ dawn and threw a Chug Bug on a point and caught 2 nice, 1 1/2 - 2 lb, Alabama bass. One was hooked way down in the gills so I invited it home for dinner. Caught several more different places on worms, couldn't get any more top water bites. Come in @ 10:30 when the wake and surf boats came to play.
  11. According to the pictures the hubs are 4 bolt so the spindle is either a 1" or 1 1/16th" straight. Look @ the seal surface on the spindle and if it's worn/grooved you'll need a Speedi Sleeve to repair the surface and an oversize seal
  12. With Buddy Bearings the main reason why grease comes out the back is pumping them up too much. Yes LED lights last longer, use less current and they're more waterproof.
  13. All your fellow fishermen will hate you for the rest of your life. Personally I take one home every couple of weeks, and yes they're delicious.
  14. ☺️
  15. My long time partner found a new partner when I started spending my winters in FL, which is great. We fish several times a year though. He's several years younger, 75, than me and front seats me but I still enjoy his company. 95% of the time I fish alone.
  16. I carry their poncho in my kayak and have worn it a few times but never in an all day rain.
  17. Our daughter bought a Toyota Corolla with a stick shift and I had to drive it home for her. We lived in a very hilly area and I gave her some instructions and pointers. Within a week she was driving all over town @ 17 years old.
  18. I run an anchor line out of my front handle with a carabiner for the line. I used 3/16" rivets for the clam cleat that holds the anchor line. 1/8" rivets pulled out. I tried a trolley but it didn't work any better than the line out of the handle. I only use a kayak for running water so the wind doesn't affect me.
  19. I only fish rivers in my kayak and use an 18" section of 3/8" chain. If the flow is strong I use another piece of chain in parallel. I use a clam cleat to snub the anchor line and run it out the front through the handle. I don't have to put the anchor in the boat to paddle just pull it up to the handle.
  20. Personally I use a T/R finesse worm for 80% of my fishing and usually out catch my buddies. The only shakey heads are the ones I've found and I drop shot with a T/R.
  21. Bought a Kastking Versus reel that Glenn recommended. Don't know what I'm going to use it for yet. 5.7 oz and 8:1. Bought a Pacifisun reel and 8 lb fluorocarbon goes between the frame and the spool. Not recommended by me.
  22. King fisher's way is the closest what I do and I've caught my share of freshwater stripers up to 24-12. Be careful of bumping the trolling motor is the line is close to it.
  23. I had a slide-in camper and pulled my dirt bike trailer with it. Any correction ended with a jackknife if I wasn't going very very slowly. I could see an inch of the trailer wheel in the driver side mirror if I was going straight so what Tom said worked for me. I had a larger boat with 8' guides that I could get crooked and just bounce back and forth to load if I hit it crooked. It's harder to load my tin bass boat than any other boat I've ever had.
  24. I put Seafoam in my tank about once a month, about 6 oz. My tank is only 6 gallons and I use about 5 gallons a week.
  25. Lip grippers are another option but a rubber net is the best. Stripers don't hold still when lipped like bass.
