  1. I use the Eagle Claw retriever with jack chains hanging from it also. It works over 50% of the time. As for using a square bill I don't have any.
  2. Some spools of line don't have the diameter printed. I write on the spool after measuring.
  3. IMO the Academy and Basspro worm hooks are soft and the points bend. That said I still use them but carry a diamond sharpener to dress them and pliers to straighten them when they bend.
  4. I wear an AM24 when I get out of the truck until I'm back in the truck.
  5. Digital calipers from Harbor Freight.
  6. I use round bend worm hooks for a lot of my fishing and found Eagle Claw Brent Chapman hooks @ Walmart. They're 15 for $4.
  7. I find the 25 for $5 basspro and Academy hooks are soft. I use them but carry a diamond file and check them frequently.
  8. My goto is a pearl fluke on a 1/16th or 1/8th oz.
  9. And the only one so far.
  10. Spinning, CRB comfort palm swell. Baitcasting anything with the blank exposed since all I touch is the reel.
  11. Okeechobee Craw lately. 1/2 blue and 1/2 green pumpkin.
  12. 12/27 is the last picture.
  13. I always ask my wife of 50+ years if I can go fishing and never has she said no. She used to go with me and read while I fish but the past few years she doesn't get along with the sun. We bought a place in FL so I could fish in the winter.
  14. Hopefully you're right. That's one of the ugliest bass I've seen.
  15. I usually have 5 lakes and 2 rivers when I'm in FL that I trade off at + the gulf. I might hit more if a friend joins me. In GA I mostly fish 1 lake and a bunch of rivers and creeks for the GA Bass Slam.
  16. I don't exercise much except for some back stuff for 20 minutes a day. I eat fairly well and walk up and down stairs several times a day. I can't fish more than 4 or 5 hours at a time; I get tired.
  17. 50 ah lithium is plenty. I use one on my 16' tin bass boat with a 45lb trolling motor and it lasts for 3 days with 3-5 hours use per day. 12 lbs replaced the 70 lb group 27 that I used to use.
  18. Electric knife. I carried a 12v one on my saltwater boat and fileted hundreds of fish. For the ribs I sometimes used a paring or short filet knife. New blades are fairly inexpensive and come in various lengths.
  19. Went to the dock this afternoon to check on the boat; while there I threw a worm in the water, where else would I throw it. Pulled up a 12-13" LM. A few minutes later I had another bite and the line broke @ the hook. No more hooks so I went home.
  20. Years ago we had a moma and 4 baby skunks living under our bathtub. The shed for our washer dryer was attached to the house and the plumbing was there also. We thought they were cute and gave them a wide berth until one of our son's buddies came over with his dog. It was during the summer in So Cal with only a window A/C. It was bad. Now about the raccoon that came in the cat door, ate the cat food and one day got so full it had a hard time getting out. Never saw it again either. We lived in the city.
  21. Thanks A-Jay. Your site has most of the places I fish in FL.
  22. Thanks guys and girls. I'm headed to FL next week for the rest of the winter and maybe catch a big one.
  23. What is your definition of a "spring chicken"?
  24. Thanks. I think we're pretty well represented on the forum. It's a mutual admiration society; I like your posts also.
