  1. let's bump this up. i'd like to know too. anywhere north of richmond to the skyline.
  2. following. i've been slaying dinks, small bass, bluegill, etc. i figure if there's small bass there's big bass too right? right now, just tossing nymphs & buggers. i guess i need bigger flies right?

  4. Thanks, I was thinking of hitting up the Loudoun County circuits...(public access ponds & maybe Goose Creek) after getting one shad at Fletcher's yesterday.
  5. Are Hildebrandt spinner lures strictly for traditional spinning or baitcasters? Do fly fishers use these lures? I was gifted a handful of these things.
  6. Post if you've had any luck, even if it's just bluegill that's biting.
  7. Not close by, but I stayed at Wintergreen for a wedding in May. As part of the property we stayed at we had access to local ponds. There's a "Smallmouth Pond," it didn't disappoint!!!
  8. New to the site, but have been pounding the banks for a while all over the area. There's isn't a pond, creek, retention pond that I haven't tried to catch fish. There's a nice juicy pond near Rte50 & Rte28 off Centerview Dr. right behind a Wingate Hotel. I haven't seen anyone else fish there, they're might be signs on the far side of the pond. I park in the hotel lot & fish the near corner. I've caught some mutant bluegill that have bit on nedrigs & plastic worms. @miPod seems like we're hitting some of the same places!!!
  9. omg....sounds like it comes down to personal preference. I like the SLX & I'm familiar w/Shimano comp on my mtb. Not sure how I feel about it just centrifugal brakes, most have 2 brake systems. I also can't decide between that & the Tatula Type R & now the Patriarch XT. Some one also mentioned the Casitas which fits the bill o f low profile, two brake system, etc. I may get one of those & also stock up on a KastKing Spartucus Plus as an extra reel. Yo folks are hella generous with their advice here, thanks so much.
  10. First post. Been bank fishing in Virginia for a couple of years. I've had one rod & one reel, a MH 7" Field & Stream w/Black Max3. I recently got a 7'1" Mojo Bass M/F travel rod. I'd like to upgrade my reel too. I've been thinking about: Shimano SLX, Tatula Type R, & a Casitas if I could find a good deal. I'm looking for a 6:3.1, RH, low profile, light weight reel, something durable & sub-$100. I do mostly soft plastics, but mi it up when those don't work, primarily w/spinners, chatterbaits, small swimbaits, etc. I've also looked at the KastKin Spartacus plus & Pflueger President XT, just bc of the matching cork handles. Thoughts? TIA.
