  1. man that's awful. from what it looks like and described above, the reeds played a huge factor. i don't understand why anyone would be flying through those lanes without some sort of clear path and visibility. tragic
  2. i used it a bunch last season. it was great until all of a sudden turned into a slinky. no problems with breakage or knot tying though
  3. berkley half heads and the lunker city ned head have great keepers on them
  4. wacky rig, jig, texas rig
  5. i ALMOST convinced my wife to go on a deep sea fishing excursion on our honeymoon. yeah that didn't happen ?
  6. scary stuff. wishing you the best and hope everything is okay
  7. she's on board with it. one day out of the whole week is fine and we constantly encourage eachother to spend time doing things with friends etc. i am a very lucky man!
  8. my wife understands that fishing is my favorite hobby and that i do commit a lot of my own free time away from work to the sport of fishing. i also realize that i need to commit my own free time away from work to her needs and wants too. we have our first child on the way and due in august.. so i am going to fish as many tournaments as i can before that (and after) without getting scolded lol. we do our best to balance all of those things together. sometimes it causes a bump in the road for sure, but relationships are all about compromise!
  9. my stick of choice is 6'6 medium daiwa tatula medium fast casting rod. i throw hard and soft jerkbaits on this rod. there are a ton of other great options, but that is my recommendation around $150.00
  10. i keep it simple and have memorized what i always have on my 9 combos. (3) spinning combos all have 15lb braid to an 8lb leader (2) light crank and jerkbait rods have 12lb (2) all purpose 7'3 mh rods have 15lb (1) 7'1 heavy jig rod has 17lb (1) 7'6 flippin stick has either 17lb or 20lb and i have one extra casting reel with 50lb braid for frogging or flipping
  11. i always like a knew leader knot. i'll have to give it a shot. curious how it is with fluoro
  12. starting to prep and load up for the first couple tournaments coming in April.. added a 3rd fuego LT frittside 5 in spring craw keitech 4" easy shiners and 2.8" swing impact fat's zman trd's 3 spools of sufix 832 hi-vis yellow bunch of mccoy xtra clear copoly
  13. this is almost as exciting as watching paint dry
  14. for bank fishing i'd go with 2 rods medium power spinning rod medium heavy power casting rod lure choices obviously depend on what time of year and what type of cover is off the bank
  15. I highly doubt it. Our BASS Nation state team had questions regarding practice for the regional tournament we are fishing end of June and this was the answer we received.. "DURING THE OFF-LIMITS PERIOD JUNE 13-18 YOU MAY NOT BE ON THE ST LAWRENCE RIVER (US OR CANADIAN SIDE) BETWEEN THE EASTERN AND WESTERN TOURNAMENT BOUNDARIES. DURING THE OFFICIAL PRACTICE AND COMPETITION, YOU MAY ONLY BE ON THE US SIDE TO FISH. IF YOU STRAY INTO CANADIAN WATERS WHILE NAVIGATING THE BORDER PORTIONS OF THE ST.LAWRENCE, YOU DO SO AT YOUR OWN RISK. YOU MAY GET STOPPED BY CANADIAN OFFICIALS AND MORE THAN LIKELY WOULD BE REQUIRED TO RELEASE ALL SMALLMOUTH BASS, DUE TO THE CLOSED SEASON ON SMALLMOUTH IN CANADA."
  16. almost bad as mueller with 3 fish on day one of the 2014 classic....
  17. WHOOPS got the drew’s mixed up ? i meant cook ? too many drew’s in the top 10
  18. pumped for cook on that win! he deserved it. super impressive track record so far in his young career.
  19. i'm really pulling for cook here! hopefully he sandbagged his weight a little like he has the last couple days ?
  20. the fisheries tell you otherwise.
  21. these guys are a lot more patient with 16" largemouth on a spinning rod than i am that's for sure lol
  22. they sure do in my parts!
  23. 95% of the time i throw some sort of green pumpkin color since main forage in my parts are mostly bluegill and perch. once in a while i'll throw a shad color, but i leave those to the spinnerbait. early spring i'll toss the fire craw jackhammer just because i feel obligated ?
  24. drew cook with the dirty thirty on day one! 31lb. 13oz.
