my daiwa tatula 7’1 heavy definitely doesn’t feel like an all around “heavy” rod. the blank towards the bottom near the reel seat is almost the same diameter as my tatula medium heavies. definitely more backbone though
7ft medium action with 8lb test is my go to. i’ll sometimes throw a fluke on casting gear with slightly heavier line in the summer when tossing in thicker cover
water temps should be rising so look for points that are close to shallower flats and have deep water access. fish should be moving up. throw jerkbaits, hair jigs, ned rigs, shallow cranks, tubes
try this point right at the beginning of the sherman arm
Daiwa Tatula Elite 7' ML casting rod. Specifically designed for shallow crankbaits, jerkbaits, and light topwater. I have it and it is up there as one of my favorite setups.
hard to beat 3.8" keitech swing impact fats and keitech easy shiners. throw them on a ball head (weight depending on depth you're fishing) or an underspin
daiwa tatula elite 7'3" MH all purpose. i use it for everything from flukes, senkos, jigs, texas rigs, chatterbaits, swim jigs, topwaters, and swimbaits
early spring and prespawn: jerkbait, chatterbait, 2.8"-4" keitech on a ball head
prespawn and spawn: flat sided crankbait, wiggle wart, chatterbait
post spawn all the way to fall: chatterbait, swim jig, topwater, jerkbait
uhhhh candlewood is just shy of 5400 acres and the most heavily pressured lake in the state with 4-5 tournaments a week from early April to October... and it still takes over 20 pounds minimum to win a tournament 99% of the time. not sure what you're talking about when it comes to the quality of fishing
