  1. I have a Certate LT, Luvias LT, two Exist 3012H, a Ci4+, among many other reels. The Certate is a truly work of art. You won't be disappointed. They are awesome reels and I would buy another.
  2. Cool...if it is (as I am not familiar with the older spools), how do they perform? Thanks!
  3. Not sure if it's a Ray's. Wouldn't be a zillion spool though since this is a TD-Z (34mm) and a Zillion is a 36mm spool. I bought two off of someone on TT. They are really nice spools!
  4. Subtle, classic, finesse...
  5. Saw that soon after I posted that in your For Sale post. Nice looking reel regardless!
  6. Those SS Tatula reels are going for a pretty premium penny right now since they were so limited!
  7. There is on the Megabass rod that I put it on!
  8. What size Certate? I just picked up a 4000-CXH. Here is my Certate 4000-CXH. Changed out the knob to an RCS cork with a champagne gold cap. Best wishes on the water!
  9. Gorgeous perfection.
  10. It's a really good reel. For $150 it's better than most. Shimano and Daiwa are the brands to stick with.
  11. Cork looks so much nicer on the Luvias...
  12. 2020 JDM Luvias LT 4000-CXH. I am probably going to change the T knob to an I knob in black or cork with a champagne gold cap to match the accents of the reel. This is the made in Japan model. Reel weighs 7.6oz. and it’s the shallower spool JDM version of the 4000 size.
  13. What handle would you recommend?
  14. A new finesse special...Dobyns with a CT SV!
  15. And/or buy some of MountainMan83's spacers! They are awesome!
  16. Haha! Yes, I have 11 of them (6 XS and 5 H)! Three currently in rotation and the rest are NIB as I think they will hold their value in the future but I don't plan on selling them as they really are my favorite reels. And yes, that is a Megabass FX68 Custom spool which I believe is a 1010. I have purchased previously from this seller who is an active member on here and he is a good guy. Everything looks good and the reel was tuned by Ian. Thank you for the heads up though.
  17. This Ito arrived yesterday from a great member on here. TD-Ito with Megabass purple spool, Zillion TW SV G1 spool, and he even threw in a free reel cover and Megabass bait! Class act for sure! Thank you Scrapiron!
  18. The drag is the most essential part of a spinning reel. Period. Locking the drag on a spinning reel is actually kind of funny and almost silly. I lock my drag down on my casting reels when I am fishing frogs in heavy pads or jigs when I want to really put an oomph on a fish. Spinning reels are about finesse. Lock your drag down on a 6lb. smallmouth in the St. Lawrence and I can tell you what will happen with that fish LOL...oh wait it will be gone faster than I can explain. Aluminum framed reels are more rigid than others but products like Ci4 and Zaion are better blends of composite that resist flex. I have aluminum and composite framed reels in sizes from 500-3012H and have had no issues with flex. Daiwa's Exist at $800 is Zaion, the Stella at $800 is Magnesium (not aluminum), and some of the best selling spinning reels out there are composite (Stradic Ci4, Tatula LT, etc.). If you are using lower quality reels with cheap graphite and then add no flex braid with a locked down reel and I would then assume a cheap rod with a crummy reel seat since you wouldn't put a cheap reel on a good rod, you may have issues but again, those are extremes. Just like if you take a Honda Civic off road you can expect the frame to flex and maybe even snap.
  19. The new BPS Carbonlite 2.0 is a Daiwa. It is buttery smooth and for the price is a nice reel. Similar features to the Exceler but with BPS (actually more like old Shimano Stradic) colors. I have quite a few Daiwa spinning reels from the Exist, Luvias, Ballistic, down to the Legalis and Revros and this reel feels nicer than the Legalis. When they go on sale for $49 with free shipping it is a steal. https://www.basspro.com/shop/en/bass-pro-shops-johnny-morris-carbonlite-20-spinning-reel
  20. I had a Premier a few years back. Really nice rod. Lew's just came out with one for Hank Parker. It's funny how what was once old is now "new" again and the young guys think it's the latest/greatest.
  21. I agree! If you could find NOS certain Daiwa and Shimano reels, I would pay retail for them simply because of both their fishability and collectability. There is something to be said with reels from about 1998-2008. True quality at the time when the economy was doing really well and the price for the quality was there. Not saying anything bad about anything new, but my TD-Z's can cast as well as any reel out there at this point. And I have tried and compared many.
  22. Pistol grips are definitely coming back. I just sold two on that big auction site. Bought both for $36 total. Sold both for $240.
  23. Some nice Ambassadeurs there! Looks like my dad's stuff back around the same time. I see a Fenwick Flippin' Stick I believe too. And that Lew's BB1N needs a rod!
