  1. Does anyone have any insight as to what might be new from Abu Garcia for 2021? It is their 100th Anniversary (as is Shimano's) and was wondering if anyone knew of any new higher end models being released? I am mostly a Daiwa/Shimano guy but got to collecting/using some of the 1970s Abu products and they are fun to fish. Just didn't know with most of the Revo line if it was just being replaced or something else was to be introduced. I can't find much info on the Zenon spinning reel but that is supposed to be a 2021 model as well. Thanks and best wishes on the water!
  2. The 195 might be a little bit nicer (and wider) of an option if it suits your budget. Ranger and Tracker are the same company.
  3. I really like two rods for spinnerbaits: Daiwa Tatula Elite 7'4" Howell Swim Jig/Big Topwater Gander Mountain cheapo 7' Heavy...this one is a blast and it was like $39 like 5-10 years ago LOL. But of your choices, the 844 or an 843 ideally.

  5. I agree...does anyone have any more info on the OP?
  6. I would bet around $250-300 today.
  7. Hello Joey, Welcome to the forum and best wishes on the water!
  8. My vote is the 150...fantastic reel! Solid and looks even better with lime green SLP knobs! Right now, it is sitting on my Curado 76H but I may use it for tossing lighter swimbaits/glidebaits.
  9. These two came from a good friend on here with a very nice story behind them. These are in the display case. The one on the left is from 1981 and the one on the right is from 1978. Thank you to a wonderful West Coast crustacean! ?
  10. If you have questions on the reels, I would be happy to help out. If your one reel is from 1973, if you look on the bottom of the reel foot, you would see 73xxxx (in other words, 1973, then the two digit month made, then the version in the last two digits...00 = 1, 01 = 2, etc. Let me know. Thanks and best wishes on the water!
  11. Some more fun...Ambassadeur 5500DA from 1980...only a very short run with the palming plate. Pretty cool reel with direct drive. This goes with the teal green 5000D reels I have and the copper brown 4000D!
  12. HPRBearings is the company. Not sure if they do regular cork but they obviously do the compressed and the EVA. They often discount their stuff too and/or the more you buy the cheaper the price.
  13. We used to be loaded with stores here. We had a Gander Mountain/Outdoors in Dickson City, we have a Field & Stream that opened a few years ago, we used to have some little mom & pop places (still have Hunter's Gallery) and we are about 2 hours from BPS (Harrisburg) and about 1.5 hours from Cabela's (Hamburg)... BUT...the best of all of them closed a few years back. It was called Angler's Paradise in Whitehall, PA...holy smokes what a selection and what a cool little store! I used to go with my father before he passed and hit the "trifecta" of BPS, Cabela's, and Angler's Paradise! They used to be such fun days and I miss those road trips with him.
  14. I saw that SV105P...:)
  15. Again, this was 2-3 years ago but I bought an SV103H from them and honestly I couldn't tell if it was ever out of the box. It was perfectly fine and I think they even threw in a free bait or something like that. My sister lives in that area and believe it or not, I was going to ask her to drive by to make sure it was legit at the time but it was and the reel arrived just fine. Hope this helps! Best wishes on the water!
  16. Here is yet another in my growing Abu Garcia "classics" collection. It's a 1978 Abu Garcia 4500 red bushing model. Not the more common 4500C with the ball bearings. Foot number is 780800 (August 1978 first edition) and it is in excellent shape. They didn't make too many of these.
  17. 7lbs. on the St. Lawrence would equal a 10lb. largemouth. However, in PA, I would say 5.5 - 6lbs. not coming from the Great Lakes.
  18. Just some fun cheapo stuff...I love these reels and they are great as knock arounds or for kids to learn on. Abu Garcia Blue Max (Wally World special) with a cheap CF handle from eBay. Total with line is less than $50 and it fires casts out there like crazy! I have three of them and ordered handles for all just because the 106mm handle length is nice for my bigger hands.
  19. I purchased from them about 2-3 years ago without a problem.
  20. Are these the regular Nanoace or the Iovino special rods?
  21. 4600C4. The narrow version of the reel and to me more comfortable to fish with overall.
  22. These are righties. Glad a grabbed them as they were just listed and I debated quickly but bought then both thinking what the heck.
  23. How does the FMJ compare to the X-Bites and Super Destroyer P5's?
  24. The Wally World special "Blue Max" combo is a heck of a deal for $68. It's an excellent caster too.
