I need some help and maybe some advice as to what to do…
A little over a month ago, I contacted a seller on here who was selling a rod. He accepted my offer for the model he was selling (selling because of some health concerns) and I sent him payment in the form of a check for the agreed amount. I sent the check actually to his father as he asked because of a particular circumstance he was in at the time needing surgery and not being at home. His father who is an older gentlemen deposited the check on his behalf and the rod arrived to me on June 7th damaged from USPS with about 6” of tip broken off in an open cardboard tube. I contacted the seller and spoke with him and he told me to reject the delivery from the post office and to send the rod back to him (he is the original owner) and he would remedy the situation. The post office marked it rejected and I actually put the person at the post office on the phone with him to speak about what to do. The rod arrived back to him safely and he contacted the rod company about a warranty replacement (as per their no questions asked policy). He assured me that a new rod was on the way and he would resend it back to me. He kept in contact with me until last week when he said he shipped the rod out to me. Since then, (6/27/18), I have attempted to call, text, and email this person after communication cut off. Could it be that he got a new rod back and decided just to keep it and my payment? That would be awful if so. I know I should use PayPal but have bought and sold so many items on here and other places using checks and money orders and this is my first issue in hundreds of transactions. What can/should I do? I hope he doesn’t have further health concerns and that is why he isn’t in contact, but at the same time, when he texted me that it shipped UPS last Wednesday, I should no doubt have the rod by now. Any help/advice would be great. Thank you and best wishes on the water!
