I haven’t found a “home” lake yet .  I have leased a nice spot about 20 miles from my house .  It’s a giant gravel pit that offers largemouth , white crappie , bluegill , and channel cat .

  • About Me
I have been an avid fisherman for 16 years .  I cut my teeth on zebco 303’s and ugly stik rods .  Now I fish st croix rods , *** baitcasters ,and pflueger spinning reels .  I would love to learn more about the way bass think and how they react to different weather conditions . Living in Kansas , I see the gauntlet of all weather conditions .  I am also a passionate Christian and believe outdoor activities like fishing get us closer to Jehovah .

  1. What lease are you referring too ? Is it the iron horse lakes one near burrton ? Great lease ! I have been told their are other leases around their but I don’t know who owns them .
  2. I have been looking for another bait casting reel to add to my inventory. I noticed that Kast King makes some bait casters that are color coded according to gear ratios...........sweet someone is as OCD as me lol!! My question is are these reels on par with 13 fishing or phlueger products or are these entry level reels that don't last. Thanks!!!!!
  3. I am in the same boat. I am right handed but I reel my bait caster with my left too. Its more natural for me. The only problem is finding reels that work for me. I am been using the 13 fishing inception 6:3 gear ratio lefty reel. My biggest struggle when I converted from righty to lefty was finding reels that suited my needs.
  4. Did the 7 inch pedestal add on make the boat unstable ??
  5. Went out yesterday in our neighbood pond and couldn’t get anything going with a jig but put on the ned rig and fished it realy slow and pulled out a 2 pound bass . First fish of the year !!
  6. The ned rig is one of my go to baits . I will try that . Thanks !!
  7. I am trying to use jigs more because I haven’t ever used them much before . My confidence bait is a Texas rig and of course the ned rig . I have always been told that working jigs like a Texas rig are the way to go in the winter .
  8. Any recommendations on bass fishing in Kansas in mid February ? It’s been cold temps in the 20s and 30s . I have been working a jig slow but not getting any bites . Any recommendations on baits this time a year ?
  9. Well said by all of you . I wish I had a dobyns rod retailer in Wichita .
  10. After hearing all this about dobyns , I am thinking about keeping my st croix spinning rods and going with dobyns on my casting rods .
  11. I put a 7 inch pedestal on my standard pelican aluminum seat bracket . Is that to high ? Am I asking for trouble with having the seat that much higher ? Thoughts ?
  12. Any ideas on seat bracket mods for the pelican bass raider ? I use the standard aluminum brackets that come with the boat . I am a big guy and I don’t know how much I trust the aluminum brackets .
  13. Does anyone have any thoughts on bass fishing pontoon boats ? I want something I can take the family out on and not worry about stability. Thoughts ?
  14. I tend to be a st. Croix homer as well . I have several mojos , an avid , and a legend tourney . I would love to give dobyns a shot but I live in Kansas and dealers are non existent .
