  1. I see the rule you're talking about, as I said earlier.. I'm not looking for locations.. it was a general question about catching big bass post spawn. Looking back this is probably the wrong area of the forum to have even asked that.
  2. It's an amateur tournament. No pros allowed. Anyone can get in besides them or fishing guides. Look it up, they go all over the country. Currently they're at Lake Norman in NC. Top prize is a boat. I'm just looking for general help on catching bigger post spawn bass. All I'm asking for is advice, as with any tournament and fishing in general, people learn from others, I'm not asking for GPS coordinates lol
  3. Hey everyone, I'll be fishing the Lake Murray Big Bass Tournament in May. I fished lake Murray back in October and the lake was about 8ft low, it sucked at the time, but I marked a lot of brush piles and rock piles ect that I wouldn't have seen otherwise. Anyway, I figure since itll be May and postspawn does anyone have any tips on catching bigger post spawn fish. I'm guessing I'll need at least a 7lber to even have a hope of winning. I know Murray is a blueback herring lake, but with the bluegill spawning I'm hoping many of the post spawn bass will be closer to the banks and attacking those nest robbing bluegill. Any thoughts or tips?
  4. I have no idea what major trails do with them, as for my club, if we have dead fish someone eats them. I take mine to a guy at work the few times it's happened
  5. It says live feed on the website but it's just a page sayin it will begin shortly with background music
  6. I would rely on them as back ups. Maybe tie something on that's different and if it works use a better setup for that presentation. I've focused on buying better quality in recent years, and it definitely helps during tournaments. Although I still have an ugly stik or 2 with lower end reels I'll have something tied onto if I'm in a pinch or break off with just a few minutes to go in the tournament and dont have the time to retie. If I can help it, I never use that stuff or only use them as loaners to some of my friends who aren't as big on fishing as me.
  7. I went on Saturday. Found a booth with $1 per pack Zoom soft plastics right before leaving. Hated I didn't find it first thing, still managed to snag a pack of magnum trick worms, plenty of z3 worms, also a bunch of jig trailers. Basically for $12 I got at least $50 of plastics I'm sure. A lot of vendors seemed to have their prices at store level MAYBE a little less. It was a fun experience
  8. I mostly use copolymer. I decided to do this after fishing with a guy in a tournament that caught literally 30 bass to my 1. We were both using the same bait on a shakey head. I was using pure monofilament and he was using a braid to flurocarbon leader. Yes I was on the back of the boat, but that doesn't explain the difference and since I started using both floro and copolymer as leader material, my bites have increased.
  9. Typically I'm not gonna buy used gear, I'd rather just pay more and have it new. It's crazy to watch these people online try to sell something used for $10 less than brand new then charge $8 for shipping lol
  10. I love my Norman crankbaits. Nothing against Strike Kings, but between Norman's and Bandits I feel like I get out cheaper and have great success at all depths. Plus I find them on sale pretty regularly. I bought a bunch at 4.49 not too long ago
  11. Thanks! I'm gonna check those out. The whole custom and niche crankbait thing is new to me. I'm trying to evolve from being a stubborn worm fisherman. I've really gotten into cranking the last 2 years. Doing my best to learn all that I can
  12. I've fished lake Murray... and if it doesn't wanna give up fish.. its miserable. So much to fish, it's a great lake, but it can be a major drag
  13. Yeah that's who I bought mine from. I definitely hope the prices are reactionary! Any chance you wanna throw a dog a bone and name some of those companies or custom builders? Lol
  14. I'll be sure and look that up... as soon as i make another Facebook lol. But regardless thanks for the info... i wonder if we're currently in a price bubble that may eventually settle down lower... or if this is a case of get what you can while you can since no more are being made and the price is gonna continue rising.
  15. Yes I realized Ed had died. I thought they have always been this expensive though, but interesting to note that's not entirely the case. I purchased a "Kllr 2" and a "Bad eye". They look really nice. My eyes aren't good enough to read the dates lol. I'm sure some of its color dependent but I've seen the same models I bought sell for over $20 more than I paid. I'm late to the show on these, but I'd like to snag a few more. I like the look of the Mutts. So far the "ugly ducks" "round Willie's" and ones like I bought seem to not be as bad on the bidding wars as some others. Sorry I'm know I'm not being 100% clear on what im asking about them, they just seem unique and I'd like to learn whatever I can about them since there isn't abundant info out there that I've found. ( probably for good reason)
