  1. I think tempeture is the biggest factor. And if we don't get some normal spring weather soon our spawn will take place as late as early June instead of mid May. Does anyone else think the spawn will be late in their area because of this cold weather?
  2. The forum looks really good Glenn, and everything seems to be running smooth considering all of the changes. Looks like some neat new features have been added. Good job.
  3. I looked at some of those the other day. They looked like nice baits, they seemed to be well built and had nice finishes. I didn't buy any, think I will just wait and see.
  4. Do a search for lure collectors and those people can help you
  5. Has anyone had a chance to fish some with these?
  6. You can't go wrong with any of his jigs and he is helpful if you pm him. I suggest buying a small selection and trying them to see what you like best, none will be wasted.
  7. You will do as well with that as any other "attractant".
  8. Boy this is just too difficult to pick a favorite. It changes with the seasons and sometimes day to day and sometimes during the day. My favorite is what they will hit while I am on the water I guess.
  9. The older Lews reels were excellent and ahead of their time. I think a lot of this is based on their good reputation. I guess we will see over time if the new models are as good, but the few people who have them now seemed to be very pleased.
  10. All of those are good. I have caught tons of fish on a Mr Twister white grub. Does not have to be fancy.
  11. Thank you for that information I understand now. I have always put a little oil on the shims where the spool contacts them, looks like a place that gets a lot of wear. Thanks again.
  12. My favorite is the old 4600CB, might be Abu Garcia's first narrow spool round reel. Very, very well built.
  13. Very good, an answer from an expert. I think I am beginng to understand. Is it actually the tips of the spool shaft that are polished where they contact the shims? And how much contact does the shaft actualy make with the inside of the pinion gear?
  14. Have you looked at the Fenwick Silver Hawk rods? They are a Cabela's exclusive and very nice for the money.
  15. I guess you would not want to dead stick with this stuff. Right?? :
  16. ABU 4600 series are sweet reels and they last forever. I still have several that I use often.
  17. I have been reading discussions around the Internet about fine tuning reels and polishing the shaft in particular. Maybe someone can enlighten me on this. As I understand this they are polishing the part of the shaft that is actually inserted into the bearing. If that is the case, wouldn't that make the shaft spin inside the bearing instead of gripping the bearing and letting the bearing do the spinning. My point is a shaft that is a little rough should stick to the inside of a bearing and make the bearing spin. And after all isn't that what we want? Seems to me that a polished shaft would slip and create friction and take the efficiency away from the bearing. What do you guys think? Is my theory right or wrong.
  18. Another vote for the curly tail grub. And white will do just fine if I don't have any other.
  19. They have million dollar bodies and 2 cent brains.
  20. I just had an opthamologist tell me that I need to start wearing good sunglasses. For inshore fishing he recommended the green mirror/amber 580 lens.
  21. Good job AA that is a neat name and and story. This has been a fun topic. Good luck with the new baits.
  22. The bottom one is a Swim Wizz and the top one resembles a Big O but the body looks a little longer. I don't know the other three. One does look like a Tadpoly, but I never seen one with a tail like that.
  23. I think those of us who use a lot of Berkley baits just expect more when they release a "new line" of baits. And none of these really pass the look test. I bought a pack each of two different ones and as I said time will tell. If they catch bass I will love them.
  24. Berkley must have a plan but I sure can't figure it out. Power Baits are some of my favorite , but I am not very impressed with this new line. I have a few to try and time will tell.
